1241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to organise your Bitcoin wealth for a lifetime? on: January 20, 2023, 06:47:58 PM
The more complexity you have with your finances, the more likely that you will fuck it all up.

For crypto, you only need 2 wallets:

1- A hot wallet where you keep low amounts for your daily purchases. (A mobile phone would do)
2- A cold wallet where you keep your life savings. (A self made paper wallet)

You don't really have to make it more confusing than it already is. If you can't keep it simple to keep your coins safe, maybe you should stick to banks.
1242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is FTX going for a reopen? on: January 20, 2023, 06:21:52 PM
GM crypto fam.
As I was doing my usual Friday market check-in, I came across an unbelievable story about a new FTX CEO wanting to reopen FTX, and FTT token surged 30% on the news.
I'm really curious to hear your opinion about this. Is there something I'm missing? Why would anyone be willing to go back to FTX after what it did to the industry?
Sources:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-01-19/ftx-token-jumps-after-new-ceo-says-exchange-could-restart
https://app.getresponse.com/view.html?x=a62b&m=BVDWtR&mc=9Q&s=BtgXWnG&u=QcLhh&z=ECFYM10&

Hopefully not. The brand is tarnished beyond repair. Nobody in the right mind would ever trust that exchange. It doesn't matter if they get a new CEO. That exchange is finished. They should just declare bankruptcy and try to find ways to make their customers whole.

Let's say they found a new CEO for this scam exchange. Is he going to pay for the stolen coins from his own pocket? If not why even bother?

FTX needs to die asap. Bankman should rot in prison. There is no other way out.
1243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 20, 2023, 06:18:06 PM
There is this thing about shopping and airlines that when you check and forget, they send you bonus or discount for your possible shopping/trip. Same holds true for casinos, if you just register and leave they will send you some bonus to get you started playing.

Most casinos give you that kind of stuff. It is not a big thing. The important thing is, you cannot benefit from those unless you deposit coins and spend them. So just creating accounts to get bonuses has no meaning at all. What good is it if you are not going to deposit any money to that casino?

It is same for the airlines too. They give you those bonuses only if you buy tickets from them. Even if you have 100 different accounts in 100 different airline company, it don't have a meaning.
1244  Other / Meta / Re: Gambling discussion board needs a child board? on: January 20, 2023, 03:43:44 PM
Can you give me 10 high quality topic discussions about gambling discussion should be?

I don't think topic like: "guide how to prevent from gambling addiction", " step how to know if we''re an addicts", "history x game", " how to become a good gambler" etc that's just a generic topics and it's repeated over and over.

I disagree with your idea.

I agree with this post.

Gambling discussion board is fine as it is. There are barely any meaningful discussion in that board. Adding more child boards will accomplish nothing. Let's say we added a "slot games" child board. Who is going to post there and what? What can anybody possibly discuss anything about slot games? It will be more of the same spam just in a different sub forum.
1245  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: An honest answer on mining with solar on: January 19, 2023, 06:02:36 PM
Solar or not, forget about mining.

The only situation where it makes sense to mine crypto if you have free or near free electricity. If you can't have this, then go buy bitcoin with the money you are going to spend on hardware. It will be a much better investment.

Doing maintenance of the hw, keeping the track of electricity prices, replacing the broken miners, updating the software... You are going to spend your time on this crap and you will probably make less money than who only bought and held coins.

Is your time really that worthless?
1246  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚖️ Crypto Gambling Foundation ⚖️ - Fair Gambling For All on: January 19, 2023, 10:23:40 AM
Amazing news.

It is not a secret that gambling is a dirty business which is usually owned by dirty people.

But this can change. Corruption is not our destiny.

We can provide responsible and fair gambling to the player base. Everybody wins.

No more scams, no more cheats.

If the gambling industry starts a union and can punish the bad apples among them, we all can have a better future.

It always starts with a dream, Martin Luther King.
1247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Genesis Bankrupt, Impact on BTC? on: January 19, 2023, 04:31:35 AM
Impact on btc? Obviously btc will survive like how it did before in similar circumstances. However the prices may take a big hit. Maybe $15k happens again in the upcoming weeks. It is probably a good idea to wait for a better price if you are thinking about making purchases nowadays.

Genesis, ftx, mtgox, cryptsy these companies come and go but btc outlives them all.
1248  Other / Meta / Re: Know who ignores who on: January 18, 2023, 12:22:36 PM
Lately I've been wondering if we can find out who ignored us.
Is there any way to find out who ignored us?  Huh

Try to have a conversation with the person that is in question and if he is ignoring you then he won't have a conversation with you. It is that simple. A person can have you in ignore without using the forum's ignore functionality. What then? Does it mean he is not ignoring you just because he isn't using this forum feature?

People even get mad when you include them in your distrust list.

Who knows how mad they'll get when they find out their "friends" have been ignoring them all along.  Grin
1249  Other / Archival / Re: Mass adoption: Naming my child bitcoin on: January 18, 2023, 06:58:47 AM
Good day guys! I would really like your input on this subject. It is the joy of every parent to see their children standout and excel in life and when these little ones are born parents bestow upon them names according to their tradition or culture, religion, places they like or have been to etc. Some of these names can contribute greatly to the success of a child while others has nothing or little impact on a child. I picked this unusual name for my child because I believe in it, it's potential and I think it is more than just a cryptocurrency. It is a new method of looking at finance and having an identity of oneself as a player in the financial world. It is a revolution cutting across the financial sector like a wide fire and I'm happy to be part of it.

I know this might sound crazy to some persons. Actually, I've been thinking about this for sometime now and I have discussed it with my wife and we have agreed to name our first child bitcoin. We got married last year and we're expecting our first child anytime soon. I'm from a country where bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are banned by the government and I think naming my child bitcoin will not be such a bad idea as it would help create awareness about bitcoin. For persons who might have heard about bitcoin, it would make them to be curious as to why I came up with such a name, while others who don't know or haven't heard about bitcoin... It would pop up questions like... what is bitcoin? Who created bitcoin? What are the advantages of bitcoin? How does one acquire bitcoin? etc...  And this would accord me the opportunity to enlighten them about bitcoin and the advantages it has. I believe this would in a little way help promote mass adoption of in my locality and the nation at large.

That's pretty cool. Make him a sister/brother and name her/him litecoin or ethereum. Maybe 100 years from now, bitcoin would be a common name among people. Who knows?

-What's your name?
+My name is Bitcoin. Bitcoin Bond.
-Who is your sister?
+Ethereum. Ethereum Cash.

A bitcoin bond would be cool too but it is kind of tricky because bitcoin has limited supply and nobody wants to borrow something that has a limited supply. People borrow USD because they know that they will make a profit since the USD always loses its purchasing power in the long term.
1250  Economy / Economics / Re: Reserve Bank of India Governor Calls for an Outright Crypto Ban on: January 17, 2023, 08:50:34 PM
CBDCs are just fiat that claims to use blockchain technology, but they are fiat. They offer no value more than fiat.

I hope indian government will not be very stupid to leave cryptocurrencies and ban it. The reserve bank of India governor is only self-centered but he is just a single person. Single person can not ban cryptocurrencies when the citizens likes it. He wants ban of what the government sees as a means of getting more tax.

Te reserve bank of India governor see crypto as gambling, he should propose ban of gambling in India too.
Even if the Indian government will ban crypto, that won’t guarantee that people will stop from using it completely. The citizens will surely find ways on how to access crypto, even if it means going outside India to make  crypto transactions. Well, I guess you’re right, the governor is just selfish and greedy, he will do everything in his power to ban crypto but we know for sure that crypto is here to conquer the world inevitably, but it won’t mean eliminating fiat as crypto and fiat should still work hand in hand.

That's true but you can't deny that it will delay crypto adoption a lot in India. Yes the individuals will be able to use crypto and the gov/cb won't notice it unless someone reports these people but on the other hand, no Indian company will ever accept crypto. That would practically kill crypto in India. Only the very hardcore fans will be using crypto and the general mass will avoid it.

Crypto itself is decentralized and can't be stopped but the gov stop the companies that do business with crypto.
1251  Economy / Collectibles / Re: FUNDED COLLECTIBLES on: January 17, 2023, 05:33:48 PM
I would never, ever buy any loaded coins from anyone. Even if the seller was satoshi himself.

"Don't trust, verify."

That's because I know for a fact that people can change. That doesn't necessarily mean that yogg was pulling a long con. (maybe he was but that's not my point)

Sometimes people have unexpected traumas like losing a family member or a spouse or something else. (maybe having an heart attack?)

Then some people act like nothing has happened and move on, some start drinking and some other become criminals telling everybody to go fuck themselves.

Walter White is a great example. A guy as straight as an arrow becomes a crime lord.
1252  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle your losses on: January 16, 2023, 08:41:41 PM

First I draw a plan of how much I am willing to risk for any bet:
I so much believe everything starts with a plan. To avoid been carried away by my loss or urge of trying more chances I first plan how much I'm willing to risk and if it goes I pause to try again when next I have made new budgets.

This is the most important step imo. If you can't make a budget for gambling, then it means you are ready to risk everything you got. When you risk everything you got, sooner or later you will lose everything you got. It doesn't matter if you win at some point, you will keep playing because you'll think why not win more? then you will lose your winnings first then you will lose your savings.

If you make a budget first though, that won't happen to you.
1253  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you sell off during the 21k price breach. on: January 16, 2023, 12:33:20 PM
Not many people expected the sudden rise in the price of bitcoin in the early part of 2023 as speculation i have online and also in the forum have started the bull is not going to be coming anytime soon. But the price of bitcoin surprisingly reached 21k on Saturday and many short time holders saw this as a wonderful opportunity to sell off some of their coins and wait for the price to go low again before buying.

So are we to expect any sudden drop down to 16k again on the price of bitcoin this year or we will going through with this current 20k to 21k mark.?

No. A fair price for a bitcoin is one million USD. Before we reach that price, I ain't selling shit. Bitcoin has limited supply. FIAT has unlimited supply. When you think about it, even a million US D looks like a conservative prediction. In theory you can't even measure one bitcoin in terms of the USD. That means bitcoin's fair value in USD is basically infinite. 999999999999999999999999999999999
1254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the core dev team plan to fight Quantum computers? on: January 15, 2023, 05:31:16 AM
That’s how I remember it too… the devs aren’t afraid of quantum computing at all because the whole banking system will be at risk if quantum computers are capable of cracking SHA256. They probably think that there are only 2 possibilities.

1- Quantum computing is fugazi.
2- If it is real, somebody else will come up with a fix and we will apply that to bitcoin
1255  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I lost my BTC form electrum wallet on: January 14, 2023, 03:30:36 PM
I believe Electrum wallet. So I use it as a storage wallet.

I have been transferring profits from the exchange to Electrum wallet.

Until I found my all BTC was transferred to bc1q9zhxlm2j6v2kn48vfv4jmh8kqjlds6v6pjxzjv.

about 3.2 BTC (on December 22 ). The software is Downloaded from electrum.org Not updated .

I want to know what happen

You probably got hacked. Could be a PC virus, could be a trojan, could be that someone close to you robbed you. Have you ever let any other people use your computer? Someone who knows about your interest in crypto can find your electrum wallet and steal your keys in a matter of seconds once he have an access to your PC. This person might even be a family member. You'd never know.

What's your operating system? Windows? If you say yes, it is time to switch to linux.
1256  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Crypto should be banned or soon to be. on: January 14, 2023, 02:09:47 PM
Crypto aka shitcoins should be banned, Bitcoin must not.

This depends a little bit if all words are independent. If yes the will be 24! = 620.448.401.733.239.439.360.000 permutations of the words. Assuming that you computer can check 1 billion permutations per second (which is is way too optimistic as this would assume that a signature / public key could be computed within one clock cycle which he can't) this would mean that your computer still would need 620.448.401.733.239 seconds which is 19674289 (19.6 million) years as the absolut minor / lower bound. This estimation however does not take into account technological breakthroughs in computing hardware which could very well happen in that time frame (:

Nobody's banning anything. Shitcoins deserve to survive as much as bitcoin. In fact some shitcoins are as good as bitcoin, if not more. They aren't many but there are a few. And once you ban every shitcoin in existence you are also banning the new tech from emerging. Bitcoin don't need that kind of artificial monopoly. Bitcoin is and will always be the best as long as it updates itself with the new tech as it did before with segwit.
1257  Economy / Collectibles / Re: My Cold Keys Just Got Swiped! All Halving Sets!! on: January 14, 2023, 10:30:20 AM
What a fucking nightmare. Yogg you are reading it even though you said you will never come back here. What a waste of everything earned in years, everything was done for bitcoin and the community.

I can imagine how it feels like, how it looks like, how it thinks like. I have been there but not as bad as you. I did not have to sell my house, car or business but things were moving that way that if in the right time I was not seeking help then I could lose everything.

Listen, nothing is too late. Everyone have family. Surrender to them and ask them to help you. It's a mental disease and it needs treatment.

If you want to to report this to his local authorities, you can contact the Rouen FR, Police Dept here:

[...removed to make it private..]

Thanks... & sorry, I'm just as pissed and angry as the rest of you, probably even more so... Sad
It's better to remove the personal information from here and post in it the investigation section.

I feel bad for everyone who lost value of their favorite collections.

This incident will make a target of anybody with a good forum history/reputation. Now people will start to think, I am buying this whatever stuff from this excellent forum member but… what if he decides to fuck me over?

Yep.

So after all these years, yogg decided to sell his reputation for money. Sad as fuck.

No matter how trusted the seller is, buying loaded coins was never a good idea anyway.
1258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How wrongful can this go? on: January 14, 2023, 10:19:37 AM
I don't like giving out my private information for any project or platforms online and I have no choice but to provide wrong personal details in order to maintain anonymity, how bad can this get if anything happens to the website system?

Is this a wrongful approach to online casinos that requires KYC? Or any of you have a better solution? There must be someone like me on here that have their ways around this. Share ideas if you can.

Nothing can go wrong for you if you provide wrong information. At worst your account will get locked and that’s if they do serious KYC.

Lots of things can go wrong if you do full KYC and give true information however. Lots of exchanges got hacked before and their customers’ info has been leaked. Often these passport scans, selfies get sold in the dark web. You don’t want that crap to happen to you believe me.
1259  Economy / Speculation / Re: what caused bitcoin to go up this january 2023 on: January 14, 2023, 10:14:17 AM
I see the price of bitcoin has increased, from 18000 now to 21000. and I think this is a good increase, at the beginning of 2023 and I think of course this is a sign that bitcoin will soon go to a bull market,

but I want to ask is bitcoin going to a bull run, or is it just a trap,? which later the price of bitcoin will fall again to 18000 or 17000?

It is impossible for anybody to know what’s going to happen next. Well we may predict the result of some events correctly but it is never going to be 100% right every time we make a prediction. So when you ask if we are in a bull run or is this a trap, you will get all kinds of answers. Some will say bitcoin will go down it is a trap and some other say “no it won’t go down we are in the bulll”… How are you gonna know who is telling the truth? You can’t possibly know that. Nobody can.
1260  Economy / Speculation / Re: I think Bottom is gone on: January 14, 2023, 07:11:42 AM
It appears so for now but we will never know for sure. What if another bad thing happens tomorrow and bitcoin/stocks make a nosedive? To be honest,I think technical analysis is bullshit. Anybody can draw any line on any chart. Yours isn't an exception. Everybody says something according to TA but there is no one TA, everybody makes their own. People were saying bitcoin was cheap when it was $30k, then it went to $15k. According to them $30k was the bottom. Where are they now? Making new charts.
