1041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: April 02, 2023, 05:43:59 PM
In my opinion, I think referral bonuses are typically waste of one's time because of its processes that seems so impossible to claim and recently I came across a thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5437603.0 seeking for Casinos with paid referral bonuses and I tool out time to read most of the responses there and they all seem impossible to claim referral bonuses.
I wish to know if anyone has successfully claimed referral bonuses and how easy was the process and what Casino did you claim those bonuses

You'll need to have hundreds of referrals to make it worthwhile. I have more than a hundred refs on my freebitco.in account and only 1 of them is still active but I am lucky because he is constantly making bets, selling FUN tokens etc and generating me some nice sats every week. I agree with you in general though. Somehow I manage to collect these refs in the past but I probably wouldn't do it today because it is not worth my effort. Making money this way is not very time efficient.
1042  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: You should write two copies of your seed phrase. on: April 02, 2023, 05:22:25 PM
Hear me out guys.

Paper can be really fragile, and all it takes is a tear or water spill or defacing to deny you access to your BTC forever.

So, you should make a second copy of your seed phrase that is identical to the first, and store it on a different place from the first seed so that they both cannot go down together except in extreme circumstances like a natural disaster.

Making more copies is risky too. A burglar might steal your home copy while you are not home... You may protect yourself from a natural disaster but then there will be other risks... On the other hand having only one copy is also risky because anything can happen to it. There isn't a foolproof easy solution to this problem imo. Physical paper wallets have their own risks, memorizing the seed words is also dangerous because dementia is a bitch... computers can get broken or get hacked if they are connected to the internet. Should you make 2 copies of your priv keys? Maybe. But I know for sure, you shouldn't make more than 2.
1043  Economy / Economics / Re: Is some certain lifestyle a waste of money and time ? on: April 02, 2023, 05:10:32 PM
You are describing an addiction here. People get addicted to various things during their life. Sex, alcohol, gambling, smoking, drugs, gaming… just to name a few. Any of these activities can become a problem when you overdo it. So let’s say you have so much money and you don’t have to work anymore. You can buy whatever you want… If you decide to do drugs and do lots of them every day… what would happen to you? Your body would be ruined. What if you decide to play playstation everyday? Same thing happens…

What about eating from the McDonald’s every day? Your whole body will explode. Yep eating shit is a legit addiction as well. I probably named every shitty addiction above. Anything I missed?
1044  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia and others, move to use Yuan instead of dollar. on: April 02, 2023, 03:27:08 AM

If US will bring back the production and manufacturing companies in US soil, it wouldn't be this easy for Russia and China. But I think Trump had this plan before he was kicked by Joe.

Not everyone is on BRICS  side though so USD will not go to zero. Its a diffirrent fight this time now, its not just military but economics and they are losing in both these. Catching up will be a struggle while one by one the world unites for Yuan.

The US can’t bring the production back from China because they can’t afford pay their employees. The US is broke. They moved the production from the US to China years ago for this exact reason. They can’t pay. They thought, “Why should we pay the American employees $3k, while the Chinaman is doing the same work for us for $1k?” And that’s how the great empire of the United States lost its dollars&power to China.

If China stops sending their ships to the US, the US will go back to the stone age.
1045  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining with Nuclear Power on: April 02, 2023, 03:20:01 AM
In my opinion mining Bitcoin with Nuclear power energy is not realistic because there are almost of regulations to run Atomic or nuclear power because only governments can allow this.
And if we do this than it would be sustainable energy but there could be a lot of cost to the staff because they have to monitor these mining facilities. That's why I will recommend alternative options and that are described below

1. Solar Power
2. Wind mill
3. Water Source of Energy

Energy is energy. When you use “clean” energy, you only pay for your energy upfront. The difference between nuclear and “clean” is the space. How many wind mills and solar panels would you need to feed a farm like what OP described? I guess it would be a lot. And then you need to have a very big field to store these mills and panels, you need to do their maintenance etc… see where I am going? When you use nuclear, none of these needed. Plug in and done. Clean energy is not practical and certainly not clean when it is used on a very big scale.

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."

As TryNinja said, you are now just another rabbit in the rabbit trap. If you want to get out of the trap, you need to pay a fee and the fee is 22%.  Grin

I agree with you on that these things ain't making crypto adoption easier and you know what? That's the whole point. The banks don't want to do any business with the crypto exchanges for a reason. They don't want you to buy crypto. That's because your government also don't want it.

When crypto people say "We are going to destroy the FIAT, the banks horrraaay" You didn't think that was going to happen in a bed of flowers right?
1047  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex to shut its U.S operations on: April 01, 2023, 03:35:30 PM
Bittrex died for me the day they made KYC mandatory and now they are losing their US operations... It is not a big surprise. They should have kept thier operations off-shore, accepted no U.S. customers and maybe then they would still be relevant today. It is just
nearly impossible to do any business with the US government. Iran, China, Russia already stopped it and now even their old partner Saudi's are leaving the US Dollar... The US needs to get its shit together asap.
1048  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia and others, move to use Yuan instead of dollar. on: April 01, 2023, 03:07:48 PM
This is what could be referred to in international politics as power tussle in terms of international levels of analysis. Haven such two conflicting countries like China and Russia coming together based on mutual economic interest against a common rival the USA is one that could be very frustrating for the US dollar with the unambiguous leverage and advantage the likes of Russia, China, Iran and Saudi Arabia have come together to give to the Chinese Yuan. With Russia in the forefront bent on the use of the Chinese Yuan instead of the US dollar in their country and in all of it's transactions and trades settlements with Latin America, Africa and Asia countries.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/russia-turns-to-chinas-yuan-in-effort-to-ditch-the-dollar-a8111457

What does this new development make for the US economy and the US dollar in the coming days and years to come.

Give your personal opinion on this development!

Another major blow to the US Dollar. The US sanctioned so many countries, now these countries are making their own deals between themselves and they are practically sanctioning the US back. The US Dollar is still the best currency out there but these countries aren't dumping the USD because they really want to, they have simply no other choice. They just can't make money and survive anymore if they bow down to the US.

Iran has lots of oil and the world needs oil. Russia has lots of gas and the world needs gas. What do you think these countries gonna do? Stop selling their commodities and starve to death just because some other country wanted that?

In this picture China has all the leverage over USA. Not looking good for the USD.
1049  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk x Flappy Bird on: April 01, 2023, 03:34:57 AM
I love Flappy Bird which was removed from stores on February 10, 2014. After 9 years it returns on Bitcointalk today.

Flappy Bird short history as it has less than one year old. It was launched in May 2013 and was removed completely on February 2014.

That game is funny and addictive so I appreciate theymos to bring it back. Will the game stay forever on the forum?

Inside the Brief Life and Untimely Death of Flappy Bird[/rl]
[img width=200]https://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gamelife/2014/02/title-660x440.jpg[/ig]

This was a great experience. I definitely forgot how hard and great this game was. I couldn't collect more than 2 coins on my first 10-15 attempt and then I collected like 10+ coins  Cool However the game won't probably stay as it is just an April fools joke. There were other great April fools additions to the forum in the recent years and none of them stayed. I don't expect this one to become an exception. This is a bitcoin forum in the end, not an arcade machine. If you want to play flappy bird, you can do it on everywhere.

See? There are many websites have this game. Nobody cares if google/apple banned it on their platforms.
1050  Economy / Economics / Re: New currency from BRICS countries on: March 31, 2023, 07:15:48 PM
I don’t think it has anything to do with btc. I think you need to realize that the world is not spinning around btc. These countries come up with a new currency so they can dump the USD. It seems like a futile attempt but still, at least they are making their goals clear: They don’t want to do any business with the USD. I can’t really blame them for this because the US has been weaponizing their currency for a very long time. Somebody has to say “enough” to this crap.
1051  Economy / Economics / Re: Is capitalism killing morality in the name of the law? on: March 31, 2023, 05:10:27 AM
Usury is an immoral profession in almost every society. But today this immoral profession has a modern counterpart. Its name is banking. And banking is regulated by law.

Making money by prostitution is an immoral profession in almost every society. But today this immoral profession has a modern counterpart. Its name is porn industry. And the porn industry is regulated by law.

Do you think moral concepts are being killed by capitalist imposing laws who want to make more money?

If you want to live like a saint, what are you doing in this forum? Bitcoin is being used by many criminals but here you are making posts here. Porn is still making the most money because there is infinite demand and so little pussy supply. Even though it is legal to make money that way, it is still not everybody's first choice. If everyone was a porn star, the market would be oversaturated and no one would make any money.

Humanity can't exist without capitalism. Socialism is against our instincts. Capitalism exists because we want it to exist.
1052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most likely category of people to become Gambling addicts. on: March 30, 2023, 08:51:17 PM
Poor people get addicted to gambling very easily. Since they don’t have the brains to get rich from the normal ways like working, gambling is their only chance to get rich because gambling mostly requires no skills as it is only based on the player’s luck. Obviously the games are designed to make the casinos rich taking the money from the pocket of the players, these addicts get poorer and poorer while they expect to get richer. It is a brilliant business.

Howdy Theymos

Quote
We (staff) were asked to stop advertising mixing services.

What's the reasonning behind? Or you prefer anticipate?

I suppose if HSBC create a signature campaign, it won't be a problem  Cheesy

Who exactly said this? I'd like to see the source of this quote if you don't mind. Was this a private message?

If theymos really said this, it is easy to guess his reasoning. You don't need to ask him.

1- Staff endorsing mixers might get the forum in trouble.
2- Mixers can't guarantee your privacy even though they say they do. That's possibly false advertisement.

1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a casino ever run without the government's awareness? on: March 29, 2023, 12:23:05 AM
Every now and then those decentralized services still need some human interaction and that alone makes them semi-decentralized and that means the gov will find that “human” sooner or later and tax him.

I believe it is possible to create decentralized dice casinos but when it comes to sports betting, everything changes. A decentralized casino can’t handle this kind of task. These “decentralized “ sports betting casinos need input data and that data is human generated. So there will always be a human managing this data and that will be the weak spot of these projects.
1056  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance CZ sued on: March 27, 2023, 05:10:51 PM
Binance CEO Zhao and his COO got sued by CTFC ( commodity futures and trading commission ) , why won't these people just leave this man alone?  Angry also is this why the market is currently crashing? These people mean CZ and I hope this guy will move out of the US for good, those people are just still mad with what he did with FTX, many secrets came to the light and many aren't too happy about it.

1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing looses Vs Finding closure: Any difference? on: March 26, 2023, 03:53:29 PM
There is only one rule you need to know when you are gambling. You are going to lose in the long run unless you do the forbidden stuff like EV/Arbitrage betting. I am saying forbidden because they make you win and if you are winning who is losing? The casino. Obviously they don't want to lose because it is their business to make money.

So, when you decide to play even more to make up for your losses, what do you think gonna happen? You'll lose even more money.

If you don't want to lose money, just stop playing. Be a responsible gambler. Play once a week, twice a week, whatever... Have a plan and never change it.

3) He is self-moderating the thread

Just don't post in any self-moderated thread unless you really trust the user that created the topic. Whenever I enter a self-moderated topic, I immediately close that tab because I know that the OP would delete any posts he don't like. Maybe he won't like what I am going to say and delete my posts too... then why would I risk my precious time on that? I am posting my message so people can read it. If somebody can delete it because he/she can without a reason, then it doesn't make sense to make that post in the first place.

1060  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does your country tax your gambling winnings? on: March 26, 2023, 09:05:02 AM
Mine does. It is taxfree if you win anything below ~$1200 but if you win more than that, you'll have to pay a 20% tax to the government on that winning.
How do you determine winning?
From bank to bookie $1k. Then from bookie to bank $2.2K?

How about from bank to bookie more $1k after that coming $2.2K. And no other incoming from bookie. that leaves $200 only but you had incoming of $2.2k and it seems you are being taxing for even $200!

Here they don't give a damn about what went to the bookie from the bank and what came back. If you made any profits on a game and that profit is bigger than appr. $1200, then you have to declare your income and pay a tax. That's all that matters. It may sound ridiculous but the gov is the only bookie around here.  Cool So the money you send from the bank to the bookie, it goes directly to a government entity. Now you should get the idea of what's happening. Cool You can't hide from the taxxxmannn
