So many people wanted Litecoin to change to X11 or Scrypt-N just to please the GPU miners, I don't see how reducing a coin count is any more a "big step" from that.
1902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] -POW & 3.33% POS - no IPO| 3 Exchanges | Anonymous Wallet Coming Soon on: May 23, 2014, 06:17:42 PM
The less coins and faster POW the better, I think POW is a silly ritual to get to POS status as it is.
1903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] -POW & 3.33% POS - no IPO| 3 Exchanges | Anonymous Wallet Coming Soon on: May 23, 2014, 03:52:37 PM
Yes I see it, but nevertheless I don't think it is good for the long term run. For example some investors avoid nxt because they have a distribution problem. I don't know if it is possible to have a richlist for anon coin but still the doubt for an unfair distribution is enough to avoid people. In the next month there will be plenty of anon coins and we have to compete with them. people have the choice. They will not pick a scam coin.

I guess I don't see how how whether mining goes on for 1 day or 1,000 days really effects distribution, either way it is the big multipools who will be getting all the coins.

If you want the coin then why not buy it, at this point it's just a few cents a coin, hardly expensive.
1904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] -POW & 3.33% POS - no IPO| 3 Exchanges | Anonymous Wallet Coming Soon on: May 23, 2014, 03:21:19 PM
FAIR DISTRIBUTION? MAYBE THEY SHOULD JUST BUY LIKE THE REST OF US, PRICE IS CHEAP

Exactly I don't get the whining. I own a laptop and have never been able to mine a coin in my life, I don't have the luxury of having a daily chart that tells me the most profitable coin to buy for the day, I just have to go with gut instinct and buy hoping to profit. Miners are important but everything shouldn't revolve around their wishes either.
1905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] -POW & 3.33% POS - no IPO| 3 Exchanges | Anonymous Wallet Coming Soon on: May 23, 2014, 02:32:41 PM

Now there is talk of PoW reward reduction, because god forbid anyone needs to wait 3 WHOLE MONTHS for their coin to go to the moon.  3 days is an acceptable amount of time to allow for fair and even distribution of coins these days.

POW is really only fair for miners, never for investors. I actually never understood why POS coins even need a POW phase, it seems pointless, the truly FAIR thing is to IPO all coins at the same price and let the market decide its value. But this is just my general statement on POS coins period.

The most important thing to me is it takes only two weeks for this coin to achieve nearly what DRK has been doing for several months.

I think the issue is people assume just because it takes a skilled coder like Evan several months to do it doesn't necessarily mean someone else couldn't do it in weeks, after all there is usually always someone more talented than yourself out there in any field. Also I'm sure Evan felt he could take his sweet time and build interest when you're the only coin on the block (not to take away from his work he's done a bang up job)
1907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NOT moderated conversation about SYNC coin on: May 22, 2014, 11:37:25 PM

Sorry, but you know very well, that those country, colour, Pos X11 coins, etc...  are all one piece of shit...
It's very risky to mine or buy those coins... so DON'T blame us!

I know I shouldn't take advice from Hippie Tech who believes David Icke's theory that reptiles secretly run the world, now that is some wacky-ass shit!

Oh and steak tastes good, bacon tastes good.
1908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NOT moderated conversation about SYNC coin on: May 22, 2014, 11:19:10 PM
And one more questions: why are those (SYNC, BC, WC) "multipools" good for??
To get ripped one more time?
There are no reputation, no statistics, no profit...  So why those fake multipools exists??

Btw to the multipool owners - please include some stats in the pool, i wanna see what my hashrate was for the last 24h etc, thank you !

LOL

Nooberous are those who do not see, yet believe. Tongue

They are noob magnets.

The maggot pools are also there to slow down any competition that may spring up.

EDIT

I recommend that you use the same title as the main thread. Just add the "unmoderated" part. Wink

You know you fudders cause me more profit loss than the actual scammers. If you want to be the hero brigade then why not bring attention to any of these coins before they build up significant volume?

So will anon tech be proved here shortly, like within 24 hrs or are we talking another few weeks on this thing?

I think it is entirely possible that Sync could "win" the POS wars while the market is now moving on to anonymous coins. There seems to always be a winner in every category of coins and considering the whole point of POS is to save your coins, build your wealth and not spend them, a rare coin with only 1,000 makes the most sense, it is less a day-to-day currency and more an ETF.

I would never deposit any bitcoins on there...you might lose them all.

Any computer connected to a network is at risk, you shouldn't keep a significant amount of wealth on ANY exchange, didn't anyone learn from Mt. Gox?
1912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 21, 2014, 03:07:36 AM
Personally I found it refreshing that Monero took off WITHOUT a logo or a gui wallet, it means the team wasn't hyping a slick marketing package and is concentrating on the coin/note itself.

XLB and DRM seduced people with some fancy graphics and BS and look where they are now.
1913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest on 99designs.com on: May 20, 2014, 08:43:14 PM
I was going to get on today to apologize to eizh, I was under the impression the logo bounty was being reduced to 99 dollars, then I saw it was $500 on the site which I think is a fair price so I started working on one. Well lo and behold I go to upload my design and AGAIN it's now been changed now to $300 prize. What next, will it be reduced to $99 tomorrow?

This is all the more reason digital contract technology on the blockchain is going to be huge, it will be harder for clients to pull such shenanigans when there is documentation for every every move in the b2b process.

Solid, it's $500 (that's what I see on the top right corner). What are you talking about? Does the site keep $200 for itself? If that is the case, I can increase it.

Posted in other thread but it sounds like they do, sorry to go off accusing you without noticing that.
1914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 20, 2014, 08:39:57 PM

Solid, no it's not. It's $500 as can be seen on the contest main page. I think you misread something on the site?

https://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/monero-mro-cryptocurrency-logo-design-contest-382486

Weird, when i'm logged in, there's a big yellow button in the top right that says $300 and if you hover your mouse over it says "The winner will receive a $300 prize"

However if I look at it logged out it says $499 Silver package.

Sounds to me like 99designs takes $200 of the prize money? If that is the case I think we can all agree that is the REAL greed right there  Grin
1915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 20, 2014, 08:09:38 PM

PS Re: logo contest. I regret I didn't send at least 1 MRO for the bounty so my voice would actually mean something. But I have to say it's very, very sad to look what's going on. One word: greed. I really appreciate all the work devs did with Monero, but this logo contest...

Actually he did it again, the bounty on 99designs was $500 this morning, now it changed to $300. It's a shame because I like the coin and its technology.

1917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest - 300 MRO bounty on: May 20, 2014, 03:45:21 AM

There's no doubt that there are logos worth millions and that quality scales with price. I do think there are good designs here, but the ideal situation is to have many to pick from. This thread didn't attract enough attention and the number of submission turned out be pretty low.

Couple this with the fact that today's logos are the same as yesterday's logos -- yet the price paid by the donators went up by a factor of 5, which no one could have predicted. There's a responsibility to get the best deal for the donators since it's all voluntary. One choice is to wait for the new attention and the unusually high bounty to produce more logos, but it's quicker to contract it out at this point. This was obviously not the intended path when the contest started.

So are you willing to revise the obscenely high 2600 MRO bounty for the gui wallet then? After all, its just a wallet skin, right? I'm sure you could find a Polish programmer who would do it for 1 btc.
1918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest - 300 MRO bounty on: May 20, 2014, 03:18:47 AM
And indeed, at 300 MRO (~$500-600) no logo is worth it.

I take no issue with not being happy with the logos in the thread, but as a graphic designer I take offense to that. Steve Jobs paid 100 grand for the Next logo from Paul Rand. The Nike swoosh is so iconic it is a multi-million dollar image. Logos are the most vital part of any brand's identity.

Obviously Monero is not Apple computers or Nike but you get what you pay for, if you want to go pay some Filipino kid 99 dollars to do a cut and paste logo on a pirated copy of photoshop that won't even probably be specced right for a four color press or be in vector format, well you will get what you pay for.

I just hate how our industry is so undervalued and shitted on all the time, there are guys who get paid more mowing lawns than designers who will work tirelessly into the night to create a presentation that could net a company a 200k contract and we never get any appreciation for it, it sucks.

Awesome, I think if someone can get even a basic form of darksend, XLB could be the Litecoin to DRK's Bitcoin.
