301  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: New Faucet - Instant payout on: March 20, 2024, 05:42:14 PM
I have just clicked on the link your provided and this is what I saw:

I guess your site would be full of ads and likely some scammers and hackers will pay you for their ads to scam people or make ways to trick people in a way their wallet can be compromised.

Yet faucets are complete waste of time.
302  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is It Time to Buy More BTC? on: March 20, 2024, 05:30:45 PM
If you can continue to DCA, this time is good to buy more. But the market is not in bull run for now but bull market is still coming.

I also think this price drop may present a good buying opportunity for someone looking to DCAing and I'm also looking to buy more BTC especially since BTC's price is low and there's zero fees on Bitget. Of course, as with any investment, only put in what you can afford to lose.
Is Bitget not an exchange? The zero fee that you meant is the trading fee or the withdrawal fee? I have not seen an exchange which makes bitcoin withdrawal fee to be zero and the exchanges are making money from their users because they charge far enough than it is required for onchain transactions.
303  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Which of the Decentralized Exchange is Good for Nigerians to Use? on: March 20, 2024, 08:49:22 AM
The most recommended is Bisq but most Nigerians may not like it. I can recommend Agoradesk but be careful of price manipulation. Use CEX to first know the best price. Hodlhodl is good but it has been long that I visit it and maybe things have changed but I do not know.

Nigeria and Binance matter still dey ground and Nigeria government dey plan to do crack down with others so make we too prepare ourselves for dat move so once dem start am we go use another means to buy and sell our coins without stress.
You know how Nigeria is. As the government have achieved their aim, they may not do anything against those exchanges any longer. You know already that the exchanges themselves are controlling the dollar price and making its be almost the same as the CBN price.
304  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Can someone with a monthly salary of 200k get married in this economy? on: March 19, 2024, 06:54:12 PM
Get married like paying for marriage rights for traditional and probably other marriage ceremony? Or you mean to keep a family?
Maybe he edited the post and make it clearer. He is talking about family and not marriage. You are not wrong by saying he can make conclusion from what is around him. We do not know if he is living in a city, town or village. We do not know how many children he has. So we can not perfectly have answers to this question.

Should this even be a discussion here? Don’t bring up topics that are not worthy of discussion just to increase your post count and activity, it is called spamming and it’s not allowed.
It belongs to societal discussion and which we can have on this local board. Something like this are welcome. You can easily know from how this forum is.
305  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What's the WAY !!!! on: March 19, 2024, 06:46:15 PM
You are welcome to Bitcointalk and also welcome to Nigeria local board on Bitcointalk.

This will be useful for you: Useful information for Nigerian newbies

The more you read and learn than posting, the better you will become. I was once like you.
306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quick Curiousity!!! on: March 19, 2024, 01:21:31 PM
It is possible but the chance is little. There are unknown miners that are mining blocks but not as often as mining pool. Also that the chance is low because the hashrates generated by single miners is low compared to the hashrates that mining pools are generating.

Try and differentiate between mining pool and mining farm. Miners and miners that have mining rig or mining farm can connect to mining pool. The comparison should be solo mining and pool mining.

Solo miners are miners that do not join mining pool but mining alone.
Mining pool are made up of miners that join their mining hashrates together to increase the chance of mining blocks.
307  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Government demanding from Binance the lists of its Nigerian users on: March 19, 2024, 11:33:28 AM
This one wey EFCC don enter the matter e mean say, Dem wan really arrest those users, e don dey really clear now say na their intentions be that. But my problem with this issue na besay, them don already succeed disable their fiat from binance so wattin Dem wan still use the name of those p2p traders do. Abi them dey plan to task them? Or place fine for their head? But one thing dey sure, as far as say them dey this desperate to collect those name e just mean say them wan either arrest them like the BDC and then, fine Dem.
I do not know what there plans are but I know that it is not something good. This also shows how incompetent our leaders, regulators and other government officials are. They saw the way but prefer just to go the wrong road all because of something not useful but to carry out their useless investigation. Instead of the government to make it mandatory for Binance to have office in Nigeria and tax them as people that are using them, they just prefer what they have been doing that makes Nigeria not to have good economy. They have the power but they do not have the brain that can help this country to move forward.
308  Economy / Reputation / Re: Anonymity of Bitcointalk forum members on: March 19, 2024, 10:09:00 AM
Since I registered as a member of this great forum, I discovered that almost every one in this Bitcointalk forum is Anonymous like each of our identity is hidden, age, location, country, and some other personal information.
To be anonymous, you need to use Tor anytime you want to visit this forum.

Does it mean that our activities here just ends within the forum and doesn't extend to real life? And how do we cope with performing transactions with one another even when our identities are not known and in a case of fraudulent activities, how can the culprits be held responsible or accountable?
For trading and businesses, you can use escrow if the member you are dealing with is not reputed. If the member is reputed, signing a message with bitcoin address or proving you are the real person using PGP signature is important.

Court orders Binance to release data of Nigerian users to EFCC

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Binance Holdings Limited to provide the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission with comprehensive information on all persons from Nigeria trading on its platform.

The court handed down the order in an ex-parte motion filed by the EFCC demanding information about Nigerians trading on Binance.

310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop adding features to Bitcoin that don't facilitate its use as electronic cash on: March 18, 2024, 03:14:01 PM
Ordinals, Runes and anything that is decreasing the efficiency of the network while increasing fees. The purpose of the network is to provide a "peer-to-peer electronic cash" system.  Anything that is not directly related to this mission should not be in the code.
Bitcoin developers pave way to the development of Ordinals and BRC20 tokens but they are not the developers of the tokens. It was later seen as a bug but which might intentionally be included by bitcoin developers.

With the existence of the tokens, the developers and miners can make fast and low fee transactions possible but that is not what is happening, but it is possible.
311  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Most secure wallet / hardware wallet for long term storage 2024 ? on: March 18, 2024, 03:07:28 PM
There are a lot of different hardware wallets nowadays, some of them are digital and others are pure metal, personally, i don't like the digital ones because i don't feel like they can last forever, but the mechanical ones are cool. I would recommend the Billfold:

This one is against fire, corrosion, water... so, for me feels like one of the most secure options nowadays. I don't like the fact that words can only use 4 characters, but is secure enough from my point of view.
Bitfodl is not a hardware wallet but a steel case for BIP39 seed phrase backup. OP is asking of a hardware wallet and not a backup.

312  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Most secure wallet / hardware wallet for long term storage 2024 ? on: March 18, 2024, 02:42:00 PM
Safest wallets are still cold wallets.

Recommended are wallet on airgapped device and airgapped hardware wallets. Or paper wallet that is safely created on an airgapped device.

Another safe wallet is multisig wallet if setup properly.

Making it more secure offline if it is single sig, passphrase is recommended.
313  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nor be Your Data Finish, Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am on: March 18, 2024, 12:12:02 PM
Information as them talk am na power if to say no be this thread me I no even know say cables self cut under water, no wonder I dey experience bad network for browsing since na MTN network I dey use I come think say maybe na just MTN network way no good I still went ahead to buy AIRTEL network still thesame network issue.
If you have the MTN app, you will get the app notification pop-up on your mobile device. I got the notification which MTN apologized for the poor Internet and also stated the reason.

But from the look of things now I noticed is not as bad as it was before I believe they are doing everything possible to make it work perfectly as before.
Yesterday was Sunday and I thought it was somehow good because it was weekend but the network is still good now. So it is getting better. It was said that some repair have been done.
314  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Will The Launch of Brics Help Solve Economic Crisis In Africa? on: March 18, 2024, 09:47:09 AM
Actually this Brics currency idea will definitely put a stop to the dominance of dollar in world financial market of a truth
How can you be so sure? Just like I said, inflation has it own advantages.

So what am trying to say is that, even though we adopted the Brics currency and we are still not doing anything different from what we are doing now, the Brics currency might be beneficial to other Brics nations but it won't be beneficial as intended to us
Nigeria and some other countries are planning to join BRICS and slightly want to shift away from the West. What I think more about is the there could be something called hidden agenda and trying to take away economy power from the US. Even if we join BRICS and continue to depend on other countries in technology, we will still lag behind. Countries like South Korea, Japan and some others are not joining BRICS but have stable economy because almost all what they are using are produced within themselves and also exporting.
315  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Will The Launch of Brics Help Solve Economic Crisis In Africa? on: March 18, 2024, 09:25:05 AM
Where is the link to the news.

Also 1 Brics currency is said to be equivalent to $55 and about £50 which makes the currency to be more valuable than the dollar and pounds and countries would no longer need the US
Because the price of a fiat is higher does not mean it is more valuable than US dollars. Marketcap of a fiat and trading volume is used to know how valuable a fiat is.

US dollar will still be a global reserve currency. No one knows if the BRICS currency will significantly have negative effect on US dollar or later its disadvantages may start surfacing. As inflation has disadvantages also it has advantages.

Well if the Brics currency is more valuable than the USD as claimed do you think it would stop the economic crisis in Nigeria or Africa, what's your say on that?
The problem we have in Nigeria and Africa generally is because will lag behind in technology and our leaders are in a deep sleep. BRICS currency can not solve that.
316  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Importing Vs Sweeping Private Keys; Wetin you need to know. on: March 18, 2024, 08:21:51 AM
Bluewallet is not mention. It is supporting WIF private key import. But I do not think it is supporting sweeping.

Many close source wallets are mentioned when there are numerous open source wallets that are available today.
317  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our newbies de ternish Nigeria, image too much for main boards on: March 17, 2024, 09:45:38 AM
I never attacked anyone here, the only reason of me saying something is because after making such posts it doesn't change anything and for you saying censorship and being self centered is non of my business, if others wants that for themselves simply not me. I do not care about being right or wrong as my points are on a normal ground, it doesn't point directly at anyone.
Some of you does not mean you, or that you are among. It depends on how you see it. I am not pointing to anyone. The people I am referring to know themselves and from their posts, you can easily know them. That means you can be among them or not. Make the conclusion yourself.

Edit:
We should not even consider this. What we should consider is what I have on my first post on this thread which is to go and do what you think as correction on the thread they create instead of creating new thread.  I mean what you think as correction because that does not means either of you are correct. That is how such discussion will be. The OP of this thread even accepted that.
318  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our newbies de ternish Nigeria, image too much for main boards on: March 17, 2024, 09:33:08 AM
This is the third of this thread in just few weeks. I did against this type of thread in the past because I knew we may be posting about something like this in new threads continuously and it is happening. I am not against giving your own opinion on the threads you people are referring to but no need of creating new thread about it.
I get your point boss, but the truth be told that, everybody get wetin Dey pain dem for this country and even op fit no fight am. The truth be told that, most of this threads wey these newbies Dey create na out of anger and pains and sincerely l, na the major reasons I no fit blame them. Most of us fit Dey reason say, no be only Nigeria and Nigerians Dey suffer this crisis but the truth be say, for a country like Nigeria, wey Dey rich in natural resources and it’s likes, you no suppose expect its citizens to wallow in hunger and abject poverty but yet we don Dey top chart for this very list which is very wrong.

So @charles-Tim, Abeg try person all these guys wey Dey create multiple threads as I believes anyone wey no Dey relevant go later drop down to were e suppose Dey, so make we try bear with them and try make take things easy with them.
Normally, we suppose they cover our nakedness, no be everything we suffer na him we suppose put up there for every body to see, we fit still check out not just we alone are suffering, their might as well be those who are experiencing worst than what we think we are passing true. Posting some kind stuffs out still doesn't solve the issue then why often is the need to raise the awareness.
I will neither say him nor you is right. Also I will neither say him nor you is wrong. It was everywhere on the news and news is not private but public. What I see more about this is that some of your prefer censorship and self-centeredness but that is not going to happen.
319  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Unconfirmed Transactions on: March 17, 2024, 09:01:24 AM
What is the fee rate (in sat/vbyte) that you used?

Use it to compare the fee rate in the mempool:
https://mempool.space/ for beginners
https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,24h,weight for pro users. I gives detailed information as the fee rate in the present and past minutes/hours etc.

The fee rate you used will be lower. If lower, that is the reason your transaction is not yet confirmed.
320  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Wallets with multiple addresses on: March 17, 2024, 08:22:46 AM
I have heard of the term UTXOs and unspent transactions a few times in the last couple years but still don't quite understand how they work. I'll get it one of these days, I hope!
You can use wallet like Electrum, Sparrow Bluewallet etc and go to coin control and see how it is. Assuming you were sent bitcoin to different or the same addresses 5 times, that means you have 5 UTXOs which you can use coin control to freeze or spend any of them if they are in the same or different addresses.
