Nigeria presses Binance for user data on 100 top local users

The $10 billion might later be demanded from Binance. Also that Nigeria government wants Binance to give them the lists of top 100 Nigerian users. Also that they have requested Binance to pass the transaction history of the top 10 users for the past six months

As Nigeria you know say we no get am so no need to recommend an for people but all those software wallets na good to recommend because dem dey easy to get it.
Some stores has it in Nigeria but which I will not recommend because they are not official resellers and the price is huge. You can get it from the official website and they will deliver it to you in Nigeria.
343  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Blame game to cover incompetency on: March 13, 2024, 11:01:12 AM
I know you are just being sarcastic and exaggerating because Nigeria actually produce pencil and ruler that you mentioned. I'm not proud about the current state of this our beloved country but believe me, no country in this world that produce all that they use. You can not technically produce everything your country consume, you import some and export some too. Nigeria is not as bad as we always portray in the public. Let be honest, how many of us like to patronize our local products? Only few but we still want them to improve when we are not giving them the support needed. No company will survive without patronage.

The first pencil factory in Nigeria was established in 2018 or so, yet they are still importing pencils. See how late it is for a country like Nigeria that have so much population. But can't you see a lot of products that we buy that are from China and other countries? Almost 90% aside food. The fact still remain that lack of production is our problem and the federal government do not look for ways to increase the production. The one that I am most concerned about are electronics and other appliances. Our country can not produce everything but we need to try and encourage increasing productivity. Federal government needs to work on constant electricity to begin with and fund researches. Also making the environment to encourage foreign investors.
344  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: I need di best Wallet for Ethereum. on: March 13, 2024, 10:29:07 AM
You can also use  Exodus or Blue wallet as they are userfriendly  and are also non custodial wallet.
Exodus is a close source wallet and not recommended. Bluewallet is just for bitcoin and not an altcoin wallet, it is not supporting Ethereum.

Those coins have mini private keys, right? I'm not sure if Electrum takes those.
You can import mini private key on Electrum. We discussed about it recently on this thread: S-starting mini private key sweep

While rebroadcasting transactions may not directly increase the likelihood of confirmation for transactions with low fees, it can serve a purpose in certain scenarios. For example, continuously rebroadcasting a transaction can prevent nodes from dropping the transaction, giving the sender more time to potentially increase the fee or take other actions. Additionally, providing a free rebroadcasting service can be valuable to users who may not have immediate access to other means of accelerating their transactions. Ads and donations can help only for handling the traffic and hosting service.

If someone is very patient and not want to increase the fee, the person should not be surprised to see a transaction that he thought to have been dropped from mempool later get confirmed. Not all nodes drop unconfirmed transaction after 14 days. Some node runners increase the duration of time they can have the transaction in their mempool.

Respending a transaction using full RBF is not that easy to go about. If a transaction is not supporting RBF, the best is for the person to wait and let the transaction to drop from the mempool's so that he can respend the coins.

I will not recommend anyone to use those wallets that do not support RBF. If a coin is not confirmed, the sender can increase the fee.

If the purging later become higher, the transaction can be dropped from the node's mempool and the sender will be able to resend it.

This is what we tell people. Rebroadcasting transactions is not useful.
347  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SpeedyBTC: Free Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator Booster on: March 13, 2024, 09:33:17 AM
I assume I must re-iterate/change details on the website from transaction accelerator to Re-Broadcaster.
This is just a free service, where the transaction gets broadcasted to multiple node API's. At least for the ones who paid low fee have higher chances of getting confirmed sooner than estimation at high node congestions.
No. But if you are rebroadcasting the transaction continuously, this can likely make some nodes retain the transaction so that the person can not respend the coin in another transaction. Rebroadcasting transactions is not useful.

Also to mention this is not any kind of scam website and doesn't have any backlinks/scam links. However, I will do the needful details changes, this is upto you guys to make use of service. Also for now there are no Ad's, But remember I must also pay for the hosting services, hence in future I might get Ad-sense setup to the domain.
Suggestions/Feedbacks are welcome. Thanks for all the above comments!.
If you want ads and donations, do something useful. Rebroadcasting is not useful.
348  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SpeedyBTC: Free Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator Booster on: March 13, 2024, 09:18:07 AM
i wonder whether we should give neutral (or even negative) feedback to such service unless it's directly offered by either mining pool/miner or they can provide proof that they're working together with certain mining pool.
I do not think he has any proof to provide. He is accepting donation and also want to advertise while providing no useful services. Assuming someone use the accelerator and the person's transaction get confirmed, the person may want to donate but not knowing his transaction just got confirmed normally without any accelerator. He deserves red trust.
349  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Blame game to cover incompetency on: March 13, 2024, 08:51:45 AM
But the past and the present leaders are incompetent. What they know more is politics and not economy. Let me say there should be no room to complain. We all know the problem we have in Africa which is lack of production. Common pencil, ruler, torch lights, light bulbs are all made in China. We import matches from India. Government are not looking for ways to make sure Nigeria can be one of the countries producing phones, computers and the likes. The government do not fund researches they way they should be funded, telling the researchers to makes new things that can favour local production of something useful to the country and also be able to represent the country in the world. We just want to remain more of a depending nation and rely more on the West. They said they are joining BRICS, let us see how this will help if the foundation that is faulty is not yet repaired. Nigeria lag behind in technology advancement and many of what they are manufacturing are inferiors. Government needs to tackle all these. Is the present government tackling it? No.

Let us expect no traffic through the site
Don't create backlinks to sites that shouldn't be visited Wink
Are you referring to how I quoted it? I have edited it and removed the website link.
351  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SpeedyBTC: Free Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator Booster on: March 13, 2024, 08:26:37 AM
You're asking donations for a "service" that does nothing.
He also wants to use the site to advertise. A site that does nothing. Let us expect no traffic through the site which will discourage people to use it for advertisement.
352  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Federal government idea on removal of VAT on LPG and it’s effect on Nigerians on: March 13, 2024, 08:07:43 AM
if our government are directly or indirectly benefiting from our non functional refineries, then there is no guarantee that they signing any bill to that effect will make any difference.
I do not know how federal government will benefit from refineries that are not functioning. But I did heard that some politicians and rich men have refineries outside Nigeria. What I read before that is one of the reasons for the high price are the limited storages that the gases can occupy in the country, that it is lower than the demand.

Gas is now very expensive, kerosene isn't cheap, to even buy ordinary charcoal now na war and light no even de when person for think of using Hot plate.
Charcoal is always still better. Although, it is through that it is getting expensive, but everything is getting expensive in Nigeria as usual, but charcoal is very cheap if compared to gas and kerosine.

About electricity, some people are using prepaid and that will discourage them to use electric cooker even if there is constant electricity because it is also expensive. But people do not use postpaid can benefit from it if the electricity is good.
353  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SpeedyBTC: Free Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator Booster on: March 13, 2024, 07:47:09 AM
You go for something that you do not know about.

I have just gone through the website and it is true that you will only rebroadcast the transaction of people that submit their txid and not accelerate anything.

Quote
Accelerate Unconfirmed Bitcoin Transactions
Are your low-fee transactions stuck without confirmation for hours? Speed up the confirmation process by rebroadcasting your transaction to the Bitcoin network.

Quote
Fast and Reliable: Our service utilizes a network of well-connected Bitcoin nodes to rebroadcast your transaction, ensuring quick confirmation.

Quote
How Does Transaction Acceleration Work?
Transaction acceleration works by rebroadcasting your transaction to multiple well-connected Bitcoin nodes, increasing its visibility and priority for confirmation.

If you only rebroadcast transactions, you are not accelerating anything.
354  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Federal government idea on removal of VAT on LPG and it’s effect on Nigerians on: March 13, 2024, 07:37:05 AM
I can remember when fuel subsidy was removed and petrol (PMS) price was increased. Some people converted their generator and car to the one that can use gas. The gases prices are increasing. Government removed the VAT but it continue to increase. The price of 1Kg will soon be ₦20000

Government should at least make it a reality, because the way things are going it will soon get to a place where people will have no choice but to go back to traditional or local means of cooking ooo.
Some people have been going back to the old way of cooking. Anyone that can not buy it will have no option than to use wood or charcoal, but just that this is more common in villages and towns that is not well developed.
355  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: I need di best Wallet for Ethereum. on: March 12, 2024, 07:45:37 PM
For high amount: Trezor. You can use it with Matamask.

For low amount
Matamask
Unstoppable

Trustwallet is close source. Not recommendable.
356  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help on how to redeem the private key from a physical Casascius bitcoin on: March 12, 2024, 03:55:08 PM
You should use the format  p2pkh when recovering in Electrum.
That is true, but it is not necessary. The private key would work as well as adding p2pkh: prefix to it or not. But if the address is starting from 3 or bc1, that is when their prefixes are needed. For legacy address, it is not necessary.

Remember that you probably have a lot of money in bitcoin forks as well.
After you have sold your bitcoins at coinbase, you can try to recover your Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and bitcoin SV (BSV). They are worth some money as well.

There are many wallets which support those coins. But remember, move your bitcoins first (as they are the most valuable coins you have)
You are right. I think this guide should still be of help: LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service). But I hard that Coinomi is having issue. I am not sure about this. I have stopped using the wallet since 3 years ago.

Import the private key into Electrum wallet. You can use this guide: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/importing-your-private-keys-into-electrum/

358  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: NLC demands N794,000 minimum wage for workers in South West on: March 12, 2024, 01:04:52 PM
If you compare the rate of things in the country where each day the price of goods and services continues to go higher, it's good for workers to be paid such an amount of salary
Let me use Jonathan time for the comparison.

Bag of rice was ₦7000
Bag of rice now ₦80000
Minimum wage was ₦18000
If it is compared in relation to minimum wage, ₦205714 should be the minimum wage now.

Dollar was ₦150 at the time
Now ₦1560
If minimum wage was ₦1800
Comparing them, the minimum wage should be ₦187200.

I guess if we compare other goods, the result will be around ₦180000 to ₦250000. They should not expect the federal government to pay more than that. But things are getting expensive day by day which can alter my calculation.

The Federal government Hollywood transpond to waste time. Past prices of goods can be used to arrive at the new minimum wage.
359  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What's up with the regular tarnishing of our reputation ni? on: March 12, 2024, 12:38:05 PM
Who do you see complain recently?

If a country is not good and the citizens of the country are felling it, do you want them to be saying something good about the country?  I am not talking about Nigeria but countries that have bad economy and that their citizens have poor standards of living. Let me tell your the fact, that is not possible. Most people will complain. Common people.

But I do like people to be depending on the government. In life, depend on yourself and do something that can make you a better person tomorrow. Build your own future without the government's help. Most people nowadays are depending on the federal government or private white-collar jobs which supposed not to be like that. Less common people.

If you want to be rich, you will not think like the common people.

Binance execs detained in Nigerian capital despite country exit

Tigran Gambaryan, a former cryptocurrency-focused United States federal agent, and a second Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, have been held in Abuja without passports for two weeks and not yet released from detention.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/binance-tigran-gambaryan-detained-nigeria

We Nigerians know that they have not been released. I do not know why Nigeria government are acting like this. The Binance executives came to negotiate with the regulators but instead, they were detained till now ans not yet released.

I think the government are up to something.
