781  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Who owns the key? on: December 30, 2023, 08:24:23 AM
You can not clone a private key. Cloning is used in biology or something medically related and not in cryptocurrencies. You own a key by generating the keys yourself. Your wallet can do that. You can not be able to crack bitcoin private key, not to talk of either you own the coins or not.
782  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool is congested, use ViaBTC free accelerator. on: December 29, 2023, 10:13:01 PM
Even di bumping sef e no dey work like dat again.
What do you mean by bump? Are you referring to replace-by-fee to increase the transaction fee used?

I just pray say make people money no go stuck inside mempool oh. Di matter dey get serious say by day.
After 14 days, it would have dropped. If your coin not seen, settle server to manually and change from one server to another.

The only way to make a fast transaction is to pay very high fee the your transaction will go very fast. And as for the telegram bot, I don't know how it works.
What do you mean by as for telegram bot? To bump the fee or what?
783  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto investment vs real estate investment : Which one more dependable? on: December 29, 2023, 09:59:20 PM
If you can understand about bitcoin, it is better. But there are time to invest and time not to invest. Learn about that.

If it is crypto, you might lose if you do not research very well. You should know that crypto is risky and it takes patience. It is not that you would be rich in just one day.

Real estate is good and what most people will choose, but it requires huge amount of money. You also need to have your lawyer at work and for advice.

In general, avoid scam and have knowledge on what you want to invest on.
784  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: be careful!! Scammers opportunity to get to you @CBN UPLIFTING OF BITCOIN BAN on: December 29, 2023, 09:38:46 PM
So probably federal government and CBN was also trying to prevent such magnitude again to prevent it citizens to fall into victims because the lost from the MMM Ponzi Scheme was much. And people were crying and some even died because of the shocked. A guy fainted in my location.
If CBN see cryptocurrencies as a Ponzi scheme, it would have been mentioned in the news immediately during or after then ban. There was nothing like that.

The federal government has nothing to do about this as they were mute and not saying anything about cryptocurrencies.

CBN wanted to protect naira and have full control at the time.

And in the time of the ban, the CBN and other agencies were using it to monitor the Blockchain and you should also know that federal government was aware that in the #Endsars, they discovered that most of the funds that were using it to sponsor the protest were traced down to Bitcoin and I believed that should one of the reasons of the banned.
CBN said they have been looking into cryptocurrencies some years before the ban. I am lazy to look for the link. EndSARs is just used by the CBN as a means to ban cryptocurrencies in a way nobody will be able to go against them successful. The deputed CBN governor statement was also very different from this. His statement was about how some people were preferring to use crypto for business or something like that. CBN will prefer naira.

And for @Miles2006, one of the reasons why the government uplifting the ban because they discovered that Bitcoin will help the national economy to grow because they are going to invest in it. Because they have seen individuals using Bitcoin to become billionaires, such Obi Cubana and likes. And they also discuss that other countries are doing well with bitcoin has they accept to use it. Therefore, they is no interior motive from the government to uplifting the ban. Let wait and see next two years to come.
There is no two reason than CBN governor has been changed and we have another president. If Buhari and Emiefele is still there, nothing will change.
785  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: be careful!! Scammers opportunity to get to you @CBN UPLIFTING OF BITCOIN BAN on: December 29, 2023, 08:44:15 PM
when CBN ban bitcoin them get enough reason saying bitcoin na scam project etc
Are you sure about this? I have not seen anywhere that CBN called bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general as scam. Although, it is possible that they may say some scammers are using it. You should also know that this present government are in favour of cryptocurrencies. You should know that when they include crypto in the financial act of 2023.
786  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [ECONOMICS] Who's Using eNaira Here. Expect Less Cash in Circulation on: December 29, 2023, 06:03:42 PM
According to an Economic Report’ for August 2023 by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Quote
The volume of eNaira in circulation rose by 284.6 per cent to N9.78bn in August, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria. This is as the volume of notes and coins declined by 14 per cent to N2.65tn in August 2023.
https://punchng.com/e-naira-jumps-by-284-notes-decline-to-n2-7tn-cbn/
When I went through what some people posted, I think they are confused because the news makes it confusing. Let me quote this which I read from the news:

The title:
Quote
E-Naira jumps by 284%, notes decline to N2.7tn – CBN

Parts of the news contents:
Quote
The volume of eNaira in circulation rose by 284.6 per cent to N9.78bn in August, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

They are thinking it is N2.65tn eNaira.

eNaira is not also a coin. The news is referring to naira and kobo and that can be confusing.

It is possible that people using eNaira may have ₦9.7 billion on their wallet in total.
787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding Bitcoin - Hashrate and Price Dynamics on: December 29, 2023, 05:37:59 PM
Bitcoin hashrate was increasing in 2022 but it was a bear year for bitcoin as its price decreased from all-time-high in 2021 to $15500 in November 2022. But it is likely because miners believe that the price of bitcoin will increase and reach all-time-high.

The more the price of bitcoin increases, the more miners will make money and that will encourage them.

Is Bitcoin's growth better signaled by its hashrate or price?
Bitcoin growth is signalled by adoption, but known through increasing marketcap and price.

Or does hashrate, reflecting network strength, outweigh the market-driven price as a reliable indicator?
Because of the hashrates, some people will prefer bitcoin because it has stronger and safer blockchain.
788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone know what is going on with ViaBTC transaction accelerator? on: December 29, 2023, 05:05:39 PM
This has been answered two day ago, which means you did not see it. Read this: Re: ViaBTC offers no more free TX acceleration?

Bots are submitting transactions faster than humans. Most transactions are traced to be Ordinals transactions.
789  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you ready for crypto investing in 2024? on: December 29, 2023, 03:28:43 PM
Bitcoin may get to $100000 in 2024. If not $100000 in 2024, it will get to all-time-high in 2024 and $100000 in 2025. This is the year we have all been expecting. Although, this year was very bullish but we are expecting more to come in 2024. People that are not investing will miss again.
790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understand your wallet on: December 29, 2023, 03:23:55 PM
every custodial wallet does that.. some of them even keep the private key to themselves and don't let you import your wallet anywhere else. you just have to login with email and password and use them forever that's what they want.
I just want to point out that it is not some of them but all of them. That is why they are called custodial wallet.

custodial wallets are only good for keeping a small portion of funds which you intent to use regularly in various payments/expenses. and trading.
On custodial wallet, you will be charged the network fee and their own fee, making the fee higher. So using only noncustodial wallet is better. You will also be able to have full control of your coins.
791  Economy / Economics / Re: How will the BRICS currency influence Bitcoin? on: December 29, 2023, 03:15:45 PM
A lot of these countries started to use Crypto currencies like Bitcoin to bypass these restrictions, so it will be natural that less demand for Bitcoin would occur, once these countries created their own single currency.
Which BRICS country have you seen accepting bitcoin for international trade? The only one that I know of that wanted to do that in the past is Russia but no BRICS country is using bitcoin for international trades that is officially known as of now.

What do you think will happen to Bitcoin, when these BRICS countries created their own digital currency? Will there be a significant drop in the demand for Bitcoin?
They are not using bitcoin for international trades so nothing will happen because there is no dumping of bitcoin.
792  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [ECONOMICS] Who's Using eNaira Here. Expect Less Cash in Circulation on: December 29, 2023, 02:55:46 PM
1) Who dey use eNaira here? If you have downloaded the app, has any merchant accepted the eNaira for payment? Me nor understand this statistics at all whether it is for usage or downs of the app.
What I read about it before was that people from part of north show high interests. It is clear that most people from the souths do not show interest. I have not seen anyone using it before and I do not use it because of that. I have downloaded the eNaira speed wallet all like 3 times or more but I do not see any reason why I should use it when people around me are not using it.

2) We are slowly transitioning into a cashless economy. If you dey do any form of business here, how you don dey take prepare your business and that of your customers for this change? Abi do you feel that we are not ready for it yet?
I went to fill gas some days ago, only 2 people paid using cards and online while the remaining 5 people before me paid using cash. Also as people are using PoS already and also accepting online transactions even without eNaira is part of the cashless...

Edit:

Edited because some people are not reading the news while people should know that the notes and coins referred to on the news are the physical naira. Not crypto. Not eNaira.

According to the news: The volume of eNaira in circulation rose by 284.6 per cent to N9.78bn in August, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria.
793  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Just think of holding and not the high transaction fees. on: December 29, 2023, 02:44:56 PM
But I come here just to tell us say make we way dey accumulate our Bitcoin with DCAing strategy or not,, no fear for the fees but make we hold am well.. Na how to protect our coins we suppose to dey think of instead of the high fees.
If you want to DCA, it is better you do it wisely.

Assuming you are DCA bitcoin every week with the money you make on this forum every week using segwit addresses. You did not spend the coins for 52 weeks which makes it a year and you want to sell it. That is 52 inputs to 1 output.

52 inputs to 1 output with segwit addresses. The virtual bytes is 3578.

If the mempool is 50 sat/vbyte, the fee that would be used is 178900 sat. That is 0.001789 BTC. If bitcoin price is $45000, that is more than $80.5 fee paid.

It is good to accumulate, but you need to consider the inputs. Do not let it build up too high. You may first consider to use side chain or lightning network and later send it onchain like every month.
794  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Economic benefits of lifting the ban placed on cryptocurrency on: December 29, 2023, 02:32:55 PM
My country pipo I use better greetings take salute every one of una wey dey here, I sure say as Bitcoin enthusiast wey most of una be, una go don hear about d news say government don remove the ban ontop cryptocurrency which includes Bitcoin so now we fit transact Bitcoin freely without fear say anybody go hold you say you dey run street or illegal.
You do not need to fear before because Nigeria government did not ban bitcoin and other crypto, but just that CBN banned it and we moved to only P2P trading. Recently I can see crypto exchanges accepting other payments like credit cards again after the ban has been lifted.

Now my own be say make we discuss how dis new development go take benefit all of us, me I see am say one of the way e go benefit us na to create a safe space for us to save our money make d value for no too come down because we know how our naira dey behave now but if ur moni dey crypto e no go too fall.
During the ban, we were still able to buy or hold and sell cryptocurrencies using centralized and decentralized exchanges and also through direct P2P.

After the ban has been lifted, likely government will begin their 10% capital gain tax and also tax crypto businesses. The government will benefit more.

Let us expect more crypto businesses, and that means more employment and adoption.
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help accelerate my transactions I will pay 30.00 USD. on: December 29, 2023, 02:20:38 PM
If I remember correctly, it used to say something like "already accelerated".
I am just noticing this post. When I help someone to accelerate a transaction just a week ago before Ordinals transactions are spamming ViaBTC free accelerator with bots, I still saw it written like in the image on the link I have posted before some weeks ago on this forum, just as it is in the image below.

After the submission has been successful, you will see the text which I think you are also referring to. But if you want to submit the transaction again, you will see this text in orange in the image below:

796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: December 29, 2023, 01:32:40 PM
This news was 4 days ago: https://cointelegraph.com/news/sec-spot-bitcoin-etf-updates-deadline

If you read the news and what has been happening before that time, you will know that United States SEC will approve bitcoin spot ETF in early 2024.

There is not need to discuss about if it will not be approved or not because it will be approved.
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me to accelerate my transaction on: December 29, 2023, 01:15:00 PM
My advise is to just wait and see if the transaction will be confirmed. If the transaction did not confirm after days, you can rebroadcast it with high fee rate after the transaction has been dropped from mempool.

If you are in haste, you will need to do child-pay-for-parent if you can spend part of the coins with unconfirmed transaction or if the transaction has a change address because the transaction is not supporting replace-by-fee.
798  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool congestion and the lighting network on: December 29, 2023, 12:14:13 PM
Ok thanks but I have to create channel with another to make the transaction fee more cheaper. I have been trying to do things since but no way. And if the lightening Network is much more cheaper then it is better to pay the onchain fee and be using it. But why is it that people are not using the lightening Network when they know that the free is cheaper? Because if I create channel with B and it will not be only B I will making transaction always and if if make transaction with B always, forum Members go say na my second account and those causes e full forum.
The reason most people are not using lightning network that I guess is because it is too complicated to use. Also that it is recommended for low amount of coins, unlike the onchain that can be used for any amount. Some people can also be discouraged that lightning network requires onchain fee to open a channel. While some people may think about vulnerabilities. But still the lightning network adoption continue to increase.
799  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: December 29, 2023, 10:38:23 AM
My settings: "Tor" and "From Blockchain". I received a small LTC-payment, which even after 11 confirmations didn't show up. When I killed Unstoppable Wallet and restarted it, it rescanned the last transactions and my transaction showed up. That's not how I expect a wallet to work.
I have the worst experience when I used it for litecoin few months ago. I had to send and keep resending the transaction until it was finally successful which was the third time. It has synchronizing and sending issue. I will not recommend it for coins like bitcoin, litecoin, dash and other coins that have synchronizing issue. It is only good for those like BSC, Solana and others with their tokens.
800  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin Halvin on: December 29, 2023, 09:30:48 AM
Can someone explain the significance of the upcoming Bitcoin halving and its potential impact on the market?
One if the significance is that halving makes people to fomo, become bulls and some months after would be the start of bull run. But normally as apogio explained it up there, it is correct, the supply is reduced and bitcoin will become scarcenthan if the mining reward is not reduced.

This is kinda complicated to me.I should read more article about this. as a summary. as you say whenever bitcoin halving emerges, Bitcoin price goes down?
Likely bitcoin price will go up after halving. In past, after halving, bitcoin price went up. It was caused because the mining reward was reducing and more people were buying as the adoption continues, therefore increasing the price.
