861  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New crypto stealer: Rhadamanthys Stealer malware on: December 21, 2023, 07:52:26 AM
In recent times I have been seeing news on this crypto attack malwares and how there are improving the more we update our security measures the higher they increase in viruses to attack but phones to still information.
You may have just been seen malware news recently, but malware news is something common.

My major concern is the fact that it can be in operation without our notice even with some anti malware, so avoiding it now seems to be difficult because it all over the place already from every site you visit regularly like YouTube most time normal videos are link to YouTube.
I am not certain of the ads on YouTube. Just do not click on the ads. Or you can go for the premium version which has no ads and have more benefits. I prefer the later.
862  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New crypto stealer: Rhadamanthys Stealer malware on: December 21, 2023, 07:12:32 AM
So as much as possible stay away from those sites, do not download any fake softwares. Everyone should be very careful more than ever as criminals are very much into our space right now and we don't want to be the next victim here.
We are in the time that we should have like 2 phones and a laptop. One phone for just something like mobile wallet, banking apps and things like that, but not about just browsing any site. The other phone for browsing much more but still to be careful of malware, avoidimg malware download. The laptops for not browsing much. I mean not to browse just any site than known URLs. To avoid malware is simple but most people that have been affected are not doing things that can make them avoid malware. It would have been late before they will realize that. Even with one device, malware can still be avoided.

But for high amount of coins, it is better to use a cold wallet like Electrum or Sparrow on airgapped device, or to go for a multisig wallet with a proper seed phrase backup.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Trying to find exchange using address for access to old forgotten balance on: December 21, 2023, 07:03:28 AM
Ok, thank you. May I ask how you traced it to HitBTC?
I use wallet explorer for it.

https://www.walletexplorer.com/

You will see a space at the top of the site, paste the address there and click on search. You will see some transactions there which are inputs are from HitBTC, if you click on some, you will see that they are used for consolidation to the address that you posted above.

Example is this transaction: https://www.walletexplorer.com/txid/007c83ff0da350c5e4f77005966cebbb5ff63163e490d211b24c20ee9382c965

You can see that the sender is HitBTC. It is used to consolidate their high input. Which means HitBTC is also the owner of the receiver address.
864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Trying to find exchange using address for access to old forgotten balance on: December 21, 2023, 06:56:48 AM
The exchange I traced it to is HitBTC.

If you are referring to doge, this supposed to be on altcoins board. But that address on your post, which I quote below is a bitcoin valid address.

865  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: ogbonge threads when fit reward your positive contributions: on: December 21, 2023, 06:44:59 AM
The second link which is Ratimov, now called Symmetrick. He is not giving merit to people anymore. Or am I not right about this? Maybe he may later reconsider.

The fourth and the fifth links. Posts there were 2022 posts. I do not think he is still giving merit there.

The first link is about all-time most generous merit senders and not a thread to reward people merits.
866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think Bitcoin ETF will be approved? on: December 21, 2023, 06:23:47 AM
I think it will be approved within Dec last.
What you guys think?
Because of what you are seeing? Just like those tweets on X and what you are reading on the news. Making it to look like spot bitcoin ETF will soon be approved. People are expecting the approval to be in the first quarter of next year. But as for this year approval, I do not think that is going to happen, spot bitcoin ETF is not going to be approved this year.
867  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance withdrawal fees are too high, what do I do? on: December 21, 2023, 06:10:58 AM
Currently, the withdrawal fee are 0.0008 btc, which is too high. What sould I do? I can't leave my btc on Binance, feeling kind of unsafe.
If it is small amount of coins, I will advise you to use Muun wallet and send to it using lightning network.

Since the fee is too high and you are scared to leave your coin in the exchange due to obvious reasons, then I’d suggest you convert your coin to a stable coin probably Usdt and withdraw it.
What if he wants to send it to his own wallet? USDT not an in this regard option.

Or just keep watch of mempool, if the transaction fee comes down (I believe that of binance should also be affected) then withdraw your coin from it. You can keep track of the transaction fee using this bot. https://t.me/BitcoinFeesAlert_bot
Binance use a fixed fee.
868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 03:23:32 PM
Transaction fees are occasionally high, but it's not a trend of them getting higher over time. It's just that, at some periods, some events trigger increased activity, and those periods are bad for casual Bitcoin users just wanting to make a small transaction. 2022 was a year of very reasonable fees, and the same goes for parts of 2023.
But this time is different. Although, it is possible that bitcoin and Ordinals transactions may reduce sometimes and the fee can become low, but different from 2022 and the past when there was nothing like Ordinals.

I don't think Bitcoin's "whole concept" is of it being the cheapest system. To me, it's more about having a currency that's truly independent of the governments and from corporations; it's also about being able to send funds online without intermediaries.
It would have been better if the fee is cheap than how it is now.

transactions are not guaranteed to be added to a block. many transactions get rejected..
you wanting the junk to continue is your own foolish nonsense of wanting bitcoin to become annoying and expenive to transact so you can promote other networks to idiots
Never mind me that I quoted this. Some people called the transactions as spam on this forum, but you can see how clear that BRC20 topics reported are not moved to altcoin boards but stayed in bitcoin discussion. Also that there is nothing developers are doing to make this type of transaction not to be on bitcoin blockchain. I am starting to think that this spam are now considered relevant and seen as bitcoin tokens.

They are currently more than 30 of them with new ones been lunched also, the likes of CSAS and 1000SATS getting the new attention. OP can easily check on them on coinmarketcap at the categories page
The real name is SATS. But some people and exchanges refers to it as 1000SATS which is still SATS in different denomination. That is SATS price multiply by 1000.
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 01:36:50 PM
The whole concept of Bitcoin being the cheapest payment system already got ruined after 2017. Then came a time when institutional investors started buyin Bitcoin and we saw a new ATH. Everything was looking good until these guys, ORDI started utilizing the infrastructure for their own shit agenda.
It is worth knowing that Ordinals started with NFTs before BRC20. ORDI is just one of the BRC20 tokens but there are many of them. There are many to come is be what people are predicting. So let us expect more congestion if nothing is done.

Not only ORDI that caused the recent congestion, SATS is also part of it and other BRC20 tokens.

With what I am thinking, Ordinals will stay. Bitcoin developers need to look for means to make the transaction fee cheap as it was before. BRC20 will likely grow and the onchain transaction will increase if nothing is done.
870  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Topics Does Dex address Have a time Limit? on: December 20, 2023, 12:30:37 PM
Although say I no de aware for now if any CEX de do am .
This is how a true decentralized exchange should be. The decentralized exchanges that I know about are like this or will provide you many addresses that you can select from. They do not have a fixed address. You can send to many addresses that are yours. But it is good to read the instructions as I have said above because the OP did not specify on the decentralized exchange that he is using.

As 4 dis matter e fit sti b say d pesin make mistake wen e de try copy d address.
An exchange can change the deposit address at anytime. Although, most of them will notify their users. Not all users will read the notification because some do not have access to the email and some many not access the exchange to see the notification. Some will only know when the money has been sent to the old address. I think contacting the customer care may solve this.
871  Economy / Services / Re: [Available] 💹📈 Bitcointalk Campaign Management 💪🔥 Signature & Bounty on: December 20, 2023, 12:02:15 PM
PM sent.

You are a good campaign manager. Undoubtedly.
872  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Topics Does Dex address Have a time Limit? on: December 20, 2023, 11:10:13 AM
It depends on the decentralized exchange that you are using. Read the ToS and also read the instructions given about your deposit address. A good decentralized exchange will generate another bitcoin address for you anytime you have used one for deposit. But just like noncustodial wallets, that does not mean you can not send to the old address, but make sure you read about it on the decentralized exchange that you are using.
873  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What faucet do you use daily? on: December 20, 2023, 08:22:27 AM
Faucets are waste of time. If you try those like Freebitco and Cointiply, you will realize that they are waste of time. I have stopped using faucets since some years ago when I first knew about bitcoin. I had not profit as I was unable to get to the minimum withdrawal and the 2 or 3 days spent on it were wasted.

I do not think people that launder money will use faucets. They will prefer other available means. Businesses are commonly used to launder money.
874  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Continue to accumulate Bitcoin, till bull run or take break and enjoy Christmas on: December 20, 2023, 08:05:53 AM
Di matter now be say dis December, celebrations fit to affect our plans and we fit no meet the target of our planned btc accumulation before di bull run. So e go take great discipline to forgo di enjoyment of dis festive season with family and friends, and focus on the investment plan.
If you are a married man, to look responsible, you have a lot of money to spend. If your family knows that you are earning money and you are not yet married, there are situations that you will have no option but to give your family money as part of your responsibility. A responsible man will have no option at times than to spend. But it should not be done lavishly but appropriately in a way we should be prudent with our spending.
875  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: U don Plagiarist ursef on: December 20, 2023, 07:46:53 AM
OP you tried for not reporting him as a plagiarists but I want to ask that since he created the thread in Beginner and help and also brought it to the local board and considering the fact that all the contents in the thread was originated by him does it mean he plagiarized?
It is not plagiarism, but he violated one of the rules of local board:

12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting topics in the local language boards if they're translated and re-posting marketplace topics in the altcoin boards if altcoins are accepted).

Assuming he translated it to Pidgin, there is nothing bad about that, but it is still in English.

@teamsherry
I hope you can see this. It is better not to make such mistake again. So far you have it posted on one board already in English, no need to post it on another board.
876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the transaction fee will high if I send small amount under $50 on: December 19, 2023, 08:59:00 PM
Anyways, I hope that the price for the gas fee can come down as soon as possible so people can transact more. The fee was always a lot more affordable/reasonable than this.

The fee is not called gas fee. This is not Ethereum network or an altcoin network that refers to their network transaction fee as gas fee. Bitcoin transaction fee is called 'transaction fee'. Or just call it fee.

If BRC20 tokens are getting more recognized, more people will be using the tokens and the more bitcoin network would be congested. I hope bitcoin developers will have something to do about this.
877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitwise The Year Ahead: 10 Crypto Predictions for 2024 on: December 19, 2023, 08:48:14 PM
I believe we will see a bullish next year if there is no pandemic.
People that speculated that COVID 19 pandemic was the cause of the bear market during the pandemic time were all wrong. If there will be pandemic next year (but not what we wish), bitcoin price will still increase. All-time-high would begin by next year and likely there would be all-time-high in 2025. Also let us not expect any pandemic to come than to hold some bitcoin.
878  Other / Meta / Re: Is really referral or affiliate are not allowed in Forum ? on: December 19, 2023, 03:13:19 PM
They are allowed in your signature.
Yes. There are even some campaigns that their signatures have referral links. This can be used to know if there are people from this site (Bitcointalk) that join (the site with the campaign) or use their service through the referral link.
879  Other / Meta / Re: Is really referral or affiliate are not allowed in Forum ? on: December 19, 2023, 03:06:41 PM
Referral links are not allowed. But allowed on announcements threads (I mean the OP of the thread).
880  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How Can knowledge of Bitcoin Eradicate Poverty on: December 19, 2023, 12:17:59 PM
Having knowledge about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can not eradicate poverty in Nigeria. Everyone can not also be smart or knowledgeable about it, while not everyone can know much about cryptocurrencies.

The cause of high poverty rate in Nigeria is because of incompetent leadership, corruption and mismanagement by our leaders. If bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not the cause, they can not be used to eradicate poverty in the country.

If you educate people to know about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, and they do not have money to invest in them, they still have nothing to gain. Nigerians knows a lot about cryptocurrencies, it gives some people opportunity but not to the extent of eradicating poverty.
