901  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Why most Nigerian struggle financially in January on: December 16, 2023, 12:55:59 PM
This is wrong. Why are many Nigerians buying used cloths? To wear better quality but at cheap price. This is enough to let you know what I will talk about traveling and expensive living which are meant for the rich people. There are also rich people in Nigeria.

Some people may not be good at management but you do not have to generalize it to all Nigerians. It is normal for people that are rich to use and go for something expensive, but some people are not like that and they cut their clothes according to their sizes.

But to be sincere with you, I do not see this your post useful or valid. I hope you will come with a better topic next time. Do not see this insulting.

I was late to submit the transaction in the last hour, but it worked this time.

The transaction has been submitted for acceleration, just wait until ViaBTC mine the next block. To know the mining pool or miner that are mining the next block, you can check it through this link:

903  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Should i change my BTC Wallet Address ? on: December 15, 2023, 06:36:14 PM
So you mean to say that even i change the address for future transcations, my previous address is linked to the Si^d^^ black listed address and even if i transfer the btc to few new addresses and then to binance, it can still be a probelm.
It is easy to trace the blacklisted address to your own address. Even if you change the address now, it does not matter at all. But I think if you do not use your address to receive funds from the blacklisted address directly, you have no problem. But if you are not having fund on Binance, I will advise you not to use the exchange for now.
904  Economy / Services / Re: please help to fast this btc Transactions on: December 15, 2023, 05:21:52 PM
You have to wait for the next hour to submit the transaction on ViaBTC. This is the link:

https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator

I will also try to help you to submit the transaction. If successfully submitted, I will notify you here. Know that you have to wait until ViaBTC mine the next block before your transaction will be confirmed.
905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to determine the right gas fee? on: December 15, 2023, 02:22:36 PM
And to make things a bit easier for you as a user, you have to chose a wallet that gives you a lot of options to chose from, like for example, I myself use mycelium wallet, it's one of the best bitcoin mobile wallet after Electrum and others, on mycelium, you will find alot of transaction fee options and how much time it will take before you get a confirmation attached to them all, this sometimes even saves you time from going to mempool, as those fee options are concurrently or live updates based on the mempool status of bitcoin.
The best is to check the mempool or a site that is proving the mempool service like the ones that I have mentioned above. It is not good to only check the fee estimated by the wallet. Mycelium is not supporting replace-by-fee, the reason I can not use the wallet. There are better mobile wallets, the three that I use are Electrum, Bluewallet and Samourai.
906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to determine the right gas fee? on: December 15, 2023, 01:17:12 PM
I think mistakenly pay the fees with such huge amount is almost impossible, there's should be a warning for that or the wallet doesn't allow you to send higher than the fast priority.
It is possible. It is better to use a reputed wallet that are recommended on this forum. There are two cases recently on the news and that were also discussed on this forum that very higher amount was payed as fee. It is good to know the fee that you used before broadcasting any transaction. Before reputed wallet will broadcast a transaction, the fee paid will first be displayed before you will click on broadcast.

OP, if you want to know more about fee rate, or sat/vbyte calculation, you can read this: Minimizing bitcoin transaction fee

Fee equals to feerate multiply by vbyte

Fee = feerate*vbyte

Vbyte is the virtual byte of the transaction.
907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to determine the right gas fee? on: December 15, 2023, 01:06:07 PM
It is not called gas fee. This is not altcoin. It is called transaction fee. Or just call it fee.

Therefore, I could set my own gas fee as a result of high transaction volumes if I could understand the memepool and congestion. To understand, I meant the math and calculation part, and what's sat/vB? I don't know how that works.
Use either

https://mempool.space
Or
https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/

to know the fee rate to be used.
908  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Seed and Passphrase/PIN on: December 15, 2023, 09:52:30 AM
I would worry about buying and using Ledger and similar wallets. Just buy a Coldcard or Passport.
It is worth knowing that Coldcard hardware wallets are not open source. The only recommended hardware wallet for bitcoin that you mentioned between the two is Passport which is open source.

Ledger Nano wallets are among the worst hardware wallets so far.
909  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Seed and Passphrase/PIN on: December 15, 2023, 08:29:00 AM
Long Term is the 12 word seed going to really always protect your funds?  is a 24 word seed secure with the rate of AI and Quantum advancements? Even with a passcode and a pin. And then what about a physical attack?

I also like to Sha passwords that can be split up to 16 different ways but that is too complex I feel, but much more secure and capable of many more words that can be used. What is the best practice here and what do you guys do for extra extra security???
Do not split your seed, it is not recommended. If you want to make your seed phrase to be secure offline, use passphrase along with it while generating your keys and addresses. With passphrase, different keys and addresses are generated. If someone have access to your seed phrase but not your passphrase, the person still will not be able to have access to your coins. Use a strong passphrase. Backup your seed phrase and passphrase differently in different locations. If seed phrase or passphrase backup is lost, your coin is lost. Do like 2 or 3 backups each.

For multisig, it is well explained above by Zaguru12.
910  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Kuda down time on: December 14, 2023, 10:20:56 PM
I opened Kuda just now and it is not working. It popped up an update and I updated it but still not working. This is usual with Kuda and it is always disappointing when I have not experienced anything like that on Opay. I will advice you to use Opay more often. You can also have both in case if one is not working, the other will be working. Palmpay is also good.
911  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Receiving a Big Payment made to my Electrum Wallet on: December 14, 2023, 05:45:35 PM
He also told me that I need to deposit/send $5000 BTC (about 10% of the BTC funds he sent) to my Electrum wallet
Do not make it confuse you. He will likely ask you to send coins to his wallet address. If you send it, he has just scammed you, not only that he fooled you. Do not pay him any money. Recovery services are scam.
912  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is it worth a newbie warning flag in this case? on: December 14, 2023, 03:52:13 PM
Nop! They won't. Scam is not moderated here, you could probably start a new thread offering to scam people straight away and the mods won't delete it.
Scam is not moderated, and newbies should know that, but there have been many of these obviously known scam that has been reported and deleted. There were some that I reported and got deleted by moderators.
913  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is Electrum affected by this Ledger exploit going on? on: December 14, 2023, 03:13:08 PM
Using Electrum with Ledger is safe.

If truly that Ledger Live is not compromised, it is safe to use it with metamask. But do not use the wallet to interact with dApps.

It is worth knowing that Ledger wallet is not recommended. Keep your bitcoin safe and separate from those altcoins. You can get Passport hardware wallet.
914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger Compromise on: December 14, 2023, 02:09:21 PM
Similar thread is existing already:

IMPORTANT: Ledger ConnectKit Library has been Compromised with a drainer.
915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did we forget about the lighning network? on: December 14, 2023, 12:27:59 PM
If this has existed a long time ago and it would solve the problem of network congestion, what do you think is the reason why people are not adopting with it? If there's a way to increase its adoption, how do you think it has to be done?
According to many reports, lightning network adoption continue to increase. Here is an example:

https://beincrypto.com/bitcoin-lightning-network-transactions-research/

Honestly, this network congestion will not gonna go away, it will happen from time to time especially if the market is quite bullish as it's expected that more transactions will be created, so we need some long term solution, unless we don't see it as a major problem yet.
If Spiderchain is implemented, maybe it can be of help. It will use PoS algorithm that is proposed while not affecting the onchain which is PoW.
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need Explanation on Defi on: December 14, 2023, 12:14:08 PM
Those, like banks are centralized institutions, they are third parties. With DeFI, not third parties with financial transactions. That is what supposed to be the meaning, but many of the them are not completely decentralized.

To understand more about it, read these:

917  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading on: December 14, 2023, 12:01:59 PM
Trading is:

80% Psychology
10% Risk Control
10% Execution
Your might have a good trading system, yet not be a profitable trader,to be a successful trader goes beyond drawing lines on your screen or a few indicators.

Work on yourself consistently and intentionally first and the rest comes easy!
Using drawings on a xhari and indicators is just part of what to know about trading, it can not help you to make profit all the time. Sometimes, your indicators will tell you where the market is going, but the market will go the opposite direction. You are correct about this.

But trading is more about strategies and risk management which will take up 60 to 70% of it. Mathematics is also part of it. Although viewing the chart using TP and SL on the exchange that you are using can be enough. But there are some calculations you will want to make before trading.
918  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is it worth a newbie warning flag in this case? on: December 14, 2023, 09:58:33 AM
But sometimes, it is better to report such a thread for it to be deleted. Posting something like 'scam' and nothing useful than that. That will make moderator to easily delete it.

I have also given the scammer a negative trust. Obviously this is a scam.

I would say yes, more warning means less people fall for such scam (even though it's one of obvious scam attempt). Don't forget show this forum show yellow or red warning (based on flag type) for people who visit this forum without login.
This is right, a flag will let people easily notice that it is a scam. But I am always wondering how some people can believe in such way to earn money.

Earn $1000 daily or more? Obviously it is a scam.
919  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Kuda warns users to be aware of social media scams on: December 14, 2023, 08:53:29 AM
Social scam isn't a new thing and any body using any mobile app should know how to secure their apps include this kuda app as well, security is what we should take serious unlike other things we do and we don't care about what outcome would be.
You are right that social media scam and scam generally are not something new. Scammers are always everywhere with the high rate of unemployment and underemployment in the country. It is we that should know how to avoid scam. But if someone bring up anything about scam in a way to let people to be aware of some scam and how to avoid them, it is good.

Still no matter how you bring up something like this, there are still people that are still scammed, likely because no one to let them know about such scam.

Many times, humans are greedy and foolish. They will trust someone that they did not know, or someone they have not seen before and not knowing anyone that knows them. If we do not use our brain the way we can avoid scam, anyone can scam us at anytime.
920  Other / Meta / Re: [proposal] forum subdomains on: December 14, 2023, 08:23:19 AM
I use google for this and it work as good. Example is when I searched for 'meta Bitcointalk' or 'Bitcointalk meta' and it will bring meta link as the search result. I use it for other boards and child boards and the searches are accurate. You can try it. I mainly use google for this.
