821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does anyone keep an updated blockchain on his airgapped laptop? on: December 27, 2023, 07:43:46 AM
What if you save the blockchain files from the hot laptop and put them into the airgapped laptop? this way you would see your funds in your airgapped laptop too, it would be cooler than seeing 0 BTC.
The function of a airgapped device is to store your keys which can be used to sign your transaction. If you do what I quote, your airgapped wallet is no more airgapped as long as you do not see 0 BTC anymore. If you have a wallet on an airgapped device, you will have a watch-only wallet on another device which you will use to track your coins. It is also worth knowing that your coins are not stored on your wallet but rather on blockchain.
822  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: When last did you drank to stupol on: December 27, 2023, 07:08:31 AM
To some, alcohol is good, although medically sometimes it is prescribed, but it is used in a moderate manner, not by drinking 10 or even 12 bottles at a time, which is what is common among those who engage in the use of alcohol. The advice I will give here is to stay away from alcohol unless it is prescribed by a doctor in order to stay healthy.
Alcohol is not bad, short term too much consumption or long term consumption is what that is not good. Doctor do not have to prescribe to someone to drink alcohol. The only when to stop drinking alcohol is when doctor recommends someone not to take it anymore. But it is good to drink alcohol responsibly.
823  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Keeping our identity hidden on: December 27, 2023, 07:00:46 AM
Yeah it's really similar but not actually same thing if you check from the explanation I gave to @ Legendary Charles-tim
The reason some people may not want people to know their country is privacy. They will just prefer not to let anyone know. A good poster may think that way and grow in rank as he continue to post. The second reason someone may not post in local board is when he has alt. He may just be using just one account to post on local board but avoiding to use the other. Another reason is that the person may not feel like posting in local board.
824  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool congestion and the lighting network on: December 26, 2023, 09:51:55 AM
Lightning network fee is zero dollar or very cheap and transactions are processed as fast as possible. It is still a good alternative. But if you run your own lightning node and have your own channel, you will first have to fund your channel which requires onchain fee. But if you use wallets like Muun and some others that have their own lightning node and channel, you do not need to open a channel. Lightning network can still be good fire small amount of coins.
825  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Post wey dey delete can it be recover from the system on: December 26, 2023, 09:20:12 AM
You have deleted a post or not, or you have deleted a post that your address is included or not, the deleted post can be seen on https://ninjastic.space/

What that matters most is to not do what we make your account to become no more reputed. If you have alt, do not merit yourself and do use your alt to vote. Even if your alt is known, be able to defend yourself without any problem. Also grow a thick skin.
826  Economy / Services / Re: Need Btc transaction Acceleration (Paid task) on: December 26, 2023, 09:04:01 AM
In case of next time, use wallet that is supporting replace-by-fee. You can read this: Bitcoin open source wallets that support replace-by-fee (RBF)

You can speed up by yourself through mempool.space by creating an account and pay $40.79 right now to be included on the next block. Click accelerate on your TXID
This is what I have been seeing since over 3 or 4 weeks if I want to use the accelerator:

827  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: December 25, 2023, 10:02:43 PM
Since he already has Ethereum in his Unstoppable Wallet, he should be able to use the internal swap feature to exchange the native ETH coins to the ETH tokens he needs on the Optimism layer, I assume.
Just like how it is on some altcoin wallets, like Trustwallet which is close source and not recommendable. This is what I found on Unstable wallet:

It is yet not possible on Unstoppable wallet. That ETH supposed to have optimism symbol which can make it confusing as it is in ERC20 symbol, but it is ETH on Optimism network.

First you should stop using shitcoins and silly tokens, but if you allredy have them at least do some minimal research how they work before asking questions like this  Tongue
And note that swap option in unstoppable wallet is using third party exchanges and partners.
It is true that many altcoins are regarded as shitcoins buy bitcoin enthusiasts, but I do not accept that he should make minimal research before asking such a question on this forum because you do not know if he searched online but unable to have a solution. This is a forum and we are here to learn from ourselves. But the question would better be in altcoins board instead of this thread. He created a different question that has been moved to altcoins board that needed the same answer as this and I think he knows what to do now.
828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have a question about cancel a transaction on: December 25, 2023, 07:27:21 AM
hello, I have a question about how to cancel a transaction which already commited to mempool but not confirmed?

if there is no way or tool to cancel a tx, is it need to develop one?
You can use wallet like Electrum or Sparrow to do that. But as Zaguru said, it is not actually cancel transaction, it is also a replace-by-fee transaction in a way the coin would be sent to one of your wallet addresses that you make the transaction from.

If you use a wallet that supports the RBF feature, you can cancel transactions that have been broadcast to your own address by increasing the fees. Apart from that, to speed up transactions, you can also use the RBF feature to increase transaction fees. To be able to do this, you must have remaining bitcoins in your wallet, otherwise you cannot do it

To see how RBF works, you can check out this thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5422456.0
There are some wallet that support replace-by-fee to pump fee but not having it to cancel a transaction.

If the transaction fee is too low and unfortunately the mempool congestion doesn’t reduces such that the transaction fee rate comes down to your range of fee then the transaction will be dropped. The default time is 24 days from the day you broadcasted your transaction but it varies because nodes have different mempool settings so could still have it beyond those days which extends the time for it to be dropped. Also the wallet you might be using could have an in built rebroadcasting feature which will continually rebroadcast your transaction and then stopping it from getting dropped
Typo, you meant 14 days, not 24 days. What to take note also is the purging. If the purging becomes higher than the fee rate used for the transaction, the transaction will also be dropped from the mempool.
829  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool is congested, use ViaBTC free accelerator. on: December 25, 2023, 02:01:52 AM
@Charles-Tim, I want you to help me see if you can accelerate my transaction, I have been trying over and over again but didn't succeed. Right now I am temporary banned from using it because I over did it.
Here is my TX I.d  e1f3ddfcdc672ccf74e0a9f7fb32620850ad58221649d3b7b71a417ed3d8bc7b
Thanks in advance.
I was not the one that submitted this transaction, but either you submitted it yourself or someone helped. The transaction was confirmed some minutes ago. It was included into a block by ViaBTC in the block it mined.
830  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is Trezor wallets safe on: December 24, 2023, 03:52:06 PM
You can get Trezor for altcoins. But know that Trezor one and Trezor T are recommended to be used with passphrase because both only has MCU and not having secure element that can make the seed phrase hard or impossible to be accessible during physical attack on the hardware wallet.

If you lost your passphrase backup, you will lose your coins just as if you lose your seed phrase backup. Backup your seed phrase and passphrase differently in different locations. Have like 2 or 3 backups each.

As for Trezor safe 3, its secure element is close source. Just take note of that.
831  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transaction fees on Electrum on: December 24, 2023, 01:33:14 PM
In Electrum wallet, for on-chain transaction, you have 3 options to set transaction fee: ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival), Mempool, and Static.

Your demand is set the fee rate manually by Static option. Please read my thread for details.
The best is to be able to customize the fee. The static option can be helpful if the mempool is not congested and the fee rate is low. But if the mempool is congested and the fee rate is high, the static will become not accurate.

These are the fee rate option for static: 1, 2, 5, 10, 30, 50, 70, 100, 150, 200, 300 sat/vbyte.

Assuming the high priority is 123 sat/vbyte. Static option do make makes it accurate.

The higher the fee rate the higher the static fee rate inaccuracy.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Umable to transfer from Unstoppable Wallet on: December 24, 2023, 10:50:42 AM
Just like I said on this thread:

I am having an issue in swapping and transferring OP. When i try to swap the OP to the USDT,  the below error message appears. Even though i have enough ETH in my Unstoppable wallet, yet it says the eth balance is low, while i have more than 1000$ of ETH balance in my wallet.
Optimism (OP) is layer 2.

The fee is not ERC20 ether, but ether on Optimism network.

Search for ETH on Unstoppable wallet, you will see ETH (Optimism). That is the ether that you will use for the transaction. On exchanges and onchain transfer, the ether transaction fee on Optimism network is very cheap. So buy it should not be a problem.

Not ether on Ethereum network that you need for it, you need ether on Optimism network for such transaction.

834  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transaction fees on Electrum on: December 24, 2023, 10:08:11 AM
For the fee, just check the mempool and use the fee rate (sat/vbyte) that you see there. The fee can be higher because you have more inputs and/or outputs in the transaction that you want to broadcast.

You can customize the fee on desktop Electrum. But it is worth knowing that you can not customize the fee on mobile Electrum. On mobile Electrum le, you have to rely on the fee slider which may not be that accurate for you at times.
835  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool is congested, use ViaBTC free accelerator. on: December 23, 2023, 10:16:12 PM
. I use ViaBTC free accelerator always and it works.
@Charles-Tim, I want you to help me see if you can accelerate my transaction, I have been trying over and over again but didn't succeed. Right now I am temporary banned from using it because I over did it.

Thanks in advance.
If your transaction fee is too low they won't accelerate it for you so you have to increase the the fee then try it. I just checked it for your but you late to submit so you have to wait till 12am before you can try it again. And my experienced I have in this viabtc accelerator, if the fee is okay it won't take time to accept, it will go once but whereby the transaction fee is very low then it won't until you bump the fee then try again and it will go. Therefore for you to accelerate faster then increase your fee.
He used 12.703 sat/byte (20 sat/vbyte). The fee is enough. I tried it but many people wanted to use the accelerator. We have to try in the next hour. I noticed recently that I was unable to submit transaction for acceleration recently, but let us wait another hour and see what would happen. I was able to submit 2 transactions yesterday at midnight, but the during the day was full of many people that are using the accelerator.
836  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: how to generate a lot of adresses on electrum on: December 23, 2023, 09:35:02 PM
thnx but what about the fees is it true that i need to pay X10 higher fees if i have my balance split to 10 diffrent adresses as Hazink@ said
Assuming you receive coins on five different addresses, or five times on the same address, if you want to spend all at ones, you will need to pay higher fee than if you send all the coins at ones to a single address.

Just like I said on your other thread, the reason people use different addresses is because of privacy.
837  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: how to generate a lot of adresses on electrum on: December 23, 2023, 09:21:40 PM
On the console, use this command:

Code:
wallet.change_gap_limit(200)

It will give you lists of 200 addresses. You can edit the number to the number of addresses that you want.

You can send out the coins that you sent in at ones. But the more you split the coins, having higher UTXOs, the more the fee if you want to send out at ones. I think you should be able to understand.

If you do not want to waste money on fee, this is not the right time to do that because the mempool is congested.
838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is it really possible to lose your btc if you reuse same adress for withdrawal on: December 23, 2023, 08:52:57 PM
It is just for privacy reason and nothing more. It is not about security.

You can send bitcoin to five addresses, but you will need more fee to spend the coins, especially if you want to spend the coins at ones. Some people that want privacy prefer to use different addresses. In the time the fee is very high like this, just withdraw to one address.

You can enable Tor on Electrum for anonymity. But as you are using an exchange, know that your coin can be traced to you. I mean through the exchange as you do KYC on the exchange.

But in short, your security is not affected because you send your coins to a single address.
839  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: cNGN, a consortium-backed stable coin on: December 23, 2023, 03:13:03 PM
It is not what I expect but it is a good start. What stopped them from pegging it to the USD instead of the Naira? This is one of the questions that came to my mind. Will adoption of the token affect the Naira positively or it will have no effect at all.
If it is backed by naira in 1:1 ratio, that means the bank will hold the amount of bought cNGN in naira. Assuming Mr A bought 5 cNGN, ₦5 will be held in bank in storage. If more people buy it, especially the foreigners, that means more people are buying naira. As of now, people do not have confidence in holding naira. Which means they may not want to hold its peg coins like cNGN.

I guess the network fee may discourage many people from using it locally. Also the fee are earned by the miners or validators which is not what most Nigerians that are into crypto are having as a business.
840  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CBN lifts ban on cryptocurrency transactions on: December 23, 2023, 12:15:42 PM
Although am curious to know now  what will happen to all the banned account that was seized due to the ban on crypto because I can recall that so many commercial bank accounts were frozen and close down, I mean account that were fully involved in crypto transaction and I know of a friend who haven't yet gone to the bank since that time to even complain about the funds he had on his account due to fear during that period of the ban and everyone know how the police were operating if they actually know that you are somehow connected with Bitcoin transaction even if it's through a legit process.
Although, I also heard of some banks account of people that were frozen, but no one on this forum among us complained that his or her bank account was frezon because of CBN ban on cryptocurrencies, neither do I know anyone that his or her bank account was frozen. There were certain people that were targeted at the time I guess, and also fintechs. Some fintechs won in court and their account was unfrozen.

Example is this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/nairametrics.com/2021/10/25/court-orders-banks-to-unfreeze-risevests-account-blocked-by-cbn/%3famp=1

If there are still organizations that their bank accounts were frozen because of the ban, it will be unfrozen definitely. But I do not know if there are still people and organizations that their accounts were still frozen up till now.
