801  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: When last did you drank to stupol on: December 29, 2023, 09:18:10 AM
Alcohol is not bad but Christian Religion against the use of alcohol in their various house.
No. If the religion against alcohol, you will notice it. The only religion that is against alcohol in Nigeria is Islam.

According to di 1Timothy 5:23,  don't drink alcohol and only water but if you dey tasty you can take small make e no be say you no go fit live without am but don't drink plenty but many people dey abuse this version of the Bible.
I found an easier to read in the quote below.

Quote
1 Timothy 5 : 23 Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

Some even sleep in kai Kai joint. The pentecostal churches do not allow their members to drink alcohol but some churches give them the permission to drink.
Some people that do not care that Bible against or do not against alcohol drinking.

When Jesus Christ came to di world him no drink alcohol drink till him go back to him father and the Christmas day wey be say na di day to celebrate our dear Lord Jesus Christ, some people go use that day dey attention beach parties, drink alcohol and etc. And for those wey don already in the level of addiction e no go easy for them to come back to normalcy.
Can you prove it?

Alcohol is bad and we should avoid it.
No. To much drinking is what that is not good. And this is not about religion but about what is beneficial and what is not beneficial to the body. Because you are not drinking it, that does not mean you should want others not to.
802  Local / India / Re: Financial Intelligence Unit of India wants to block URL of Binance and 8 others on: December 28, 2023, 09:01:54 PM
This is not about bitcoin. Not supposed to be in bitcoin discussion but on exchange board.

The government of any nation will always want its citizens at its mercy, decentralised systems that doesnt need the government's approval is a threat to them. I hope that they will consider their citizens that make a fortune out of this market
All the exchanges mentioned are not decentralized but centralized. Most of the exchanges will even require KYC before you can trade on them. Also the exchanges do not give you any key, they have and own all the keys.
803  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: about GPG signature on: December 28, 2023, 08:50:29 PM
If the Electrum that you downloaded is not signed by the developer, the signature will be invalid. If the signature is not valid, then you will know that the file is not signed by the right developer and likely the site has been compromised.

If you use the signature from the developer and it is valid, you have nothing to be worried about, the wallet is not fake.
804  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understand your wallet on: December 28, 2023, 08:02:48 PM
Personally speaking, I used coinbase wallet for a few years for the same reason, and also I had Electrum but I couldn't stop using coinbase wallet because I felt more comfortable with that so we may need a reason for the change even if we know what is the right thing to do. At least OP learned from the mistakes in the past and tried to pass them to new-gen newbies who might repeat the same.
Coinbase noncustodial wallet? Be it custodial or noncustodial, Coinbase is one of the wallet I can not recommend for bitcoin users. It is close source, not having replace-by-fee or child-pay-for-parent feature. Recommending online seed phrase backup, not having multisig. Can you connect it to hardware wallet? I do not think so.

Non custodial wallet isn't technical, you can directly install the wallet from google play or apple app, write down the seed phrase and input your seed phrase, it's done. Of course it's way better if you buy a hardware wallet or create your own cold storage than use non custodial wallet as a hot wallet.
I will advise people to download from the official website. Verify the PGP signature if available.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin POW to POS the key? on: December 28, 2023, 07:54:26 PM
Was such a transition discussed in the BTC-community?
I do not think so. The only PoS that is likely possible would be the Spiderchain which is also called the drive chain or something. The proposal is in a way the PoW and the onchain transaction will not be affected as it will also be like a side chain or a other layer 2. But for PoS to be proposed directly, there is nothing like that.

If you can wait for few days, you can wait, the transaction will likely be confirmed. If you can not wait, the transaction supports replace-by-fee, you can increase the fee on the wallet that you used. If you do not know how to increase the fee, you can let us know the wallet that you used.

To know the fee rate that can be used for the transaction to be confirmed early, you can use https://mempool.space/ or https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,24h,weight to check the fee rate to be used.
807  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODLers, When Will You Sell? on: December 28, 2023, 02:08:29 PM
If I hold bitcoin during the bear market and the price started to increase as planned, I will sell 70% of it after a significant bull market. I can not hold most of my coins more than 2 years and I will prefer to buy more after another bear market. For people that do not sell at all, the price may come down but it will later go back up.

809  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool is congested, use ViaBTC free accelerator. on: December 27, 2023, 11:16:15 PM
Do you think ViaBTC free accelerator go accept new orders in the near future?
According to this post, ViaBTC free accelerator is still working, but people with Ordinal transactions are spamming it with their bots and making it impossible for people to use. ViaBTC continues to give 100 transactions per hour.
810  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool is congested, use ViaBTC free accelerator. on: December 27, 2023, 06:13:13 PM
ViaBTC free accelerator has exceeded it limits and not longer accepting new orders. Noticed it since this week, what other alternatives do we have left?
I have noticed this recently as well, you are not wrong. I have been unable to submit my txid since some days ago. As far as I know, there are  not alternatives for now. All alternatives are either fake or scam, while some will only keep rebroadcasting your transaction.

I may lock this thread soon.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin POW to POS the key? on: December 27, 2023, 04:45:13 PM
It is true that Ethereum converted from PoW to PoS but the transaction fee did not reduce. So I do not know the problem you meant that Ethereum faced in the paste.

There are coins that make use of PoW that are cheaper than Ethereum transactions. Examples are litecoin, doge et cetera.

Converting from PoW to PoS is not the solution.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: are there any bitcoin faucets nowadays !! on: December 27, 2023, 04:38:12 PM
I'm only aware of Freebitco at the moment and not looking for other faucets. But you have to be careful if you want to use this site because you could be tempted to double the satoshis you have. That means you will gamble. And remember that gambling can result in defeat if you can't control yourself.

The advantage of playing faucets at Freebitco is that you can invest in FUN tokens and lock them to get rewards in the form of FUN tokens. You can also use other features that can provide benefits if you have 30,000 satoshi. With that amount, you can generate interest. For more details, you can visit the Freebitcoin thread.
The advantage I see more is for people to advertise Freebitco and more people will try the site. If someone is a gambler, he will only deposit more coins on the site to gamble and the person may likely lose than win. The faucet is of low reward which does not worth anything but a waste of time. It is just like a demo means to test their games on the site.
813  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: disallowing RBF (replace-by-fee) on: December 27, 2023, 11:55:42 AM
The only reason to want non-RBF transactions, is to accept zero-confirmation transactions. But, with more and more full-RBF nodes, you shouldn't rely on that. Just wait for a confirmation to be sure.
Yes, exactly. In the past, I accepted no confirmation transaction if the fee used is high enough to make the transaction get confirmed in the next block. But since nodes can enable full RBF and non RBF transactions can still be replaced, I do not do that anymore. At least I wait for one confirmation. I also see no reason why OP need transactions that is not supporting RBF.
814  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mempool congestion and the lighting network on: December 27, 2023, 11:44:48 AM
Charles-Tim how does one go about this lightening Network, you have not really explain this to someone satisfaction. Give us the simple steps to follow up. I really wanted to use dis network but I don't know how to go about it. And na true true because so last time when I tried to find out how to do dem say I go pay money so dat one too come dey discourage me.

But be like she na only lightening Network to lightning network nai go fit send to one another?
For example, you want to use wallet like Electrum, you will need to open a channel. Let us say Mr B is your friend and you are Mr A. Mr B and you will open a channel. Too open a channel, let us say you have 0.0025 BTC and Mr B has 0.0025 BTC. It has a way on Electrum that Mr B and you will open a channel together. All payments through you both directly has no fee unless you are sending to another person that you did not open a channel with. When you want to open a channel, you will pay onchain fee which is also the bitcoin transaction fee that we say it is costly right now as the mempool is congested.

But if you use some wallet like Muun, wallet of Satoshi and many others which are the most common lightning network wallets, such wallets have their own channels. Only what you will do is to download the wallet and you will backup. Then you can send and receive bitcoin. There are many wallets that are like this and people prefer it because it is simple to use. But it is not your lightning node and not your channel. You will have to pay fee for any transaction but the fee is very cheap, and the transaction are fast just like you have your own channel.
815  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: disallowing RBF (replace-by-fee) on: December 27, 2023, 11:20:39 AM
My own question is why is RBF being disabled your major concern, it's been there doesn't mean that you must make use of the function, as to complete your desirability, you can always disable this right from making your transactions by checking the button that disallowed for RBF function, i don't know about blue wallet if it's also allows for RBF like the way electrum wallet did, but am very sure of the two examples given already by zaguru, mycellium and trust wallet.

On Electrum, RBF is the default and it can not be disabled anymore. On Bluewallet, you can make use of RBF and also you can disable it just like I have explained above.

Mycelium do not support RBF. Trustwallet also do not support RBF and it is a close source wallet. Aside from those, it is one of the worst bitcoin wallet, only altcoins users are the ones that are using it that may not have complain.

There are many other close source wallets like Coinomi, Atomic wallet and others which do not support replace-by-fee and not advisable or recommend. They are wallets bitcoin users supposed to stay away from because there are many open source bitcoin wallets. There are also many open source bitcon wallet that you can disable the replace-by-fee but which I am lazy to research on for now.
816  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: disallowing RBF (replace-by-fee) on: December 27, 2023, 11:04:54 AM
Why don't you want to make your transaction support replace-by-fee?

On Bluewallet, after you click on send, at the top right corner, click on the three the dots and disable RBF for that transaction

On Samourai, click on icon at the top left corner -> settings -> transactions. Then uncheck RBF.

No RBF on Mycelium.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: biggest misconception about Cryptocurrency? on: December 27, 2023, 10:27:50 AM
Biggest misconception is cryptocurrencies can help people to get rich, after one sleep, one night and it's super easy to be rich in cryptocurrency market.
Especially with altcoins. I can see some altcoins that fell more than 20 times in the bear market. If someone fomo at the time and buy and be losing 20 time more of the money invested, it will not be easy. Altcoins are very risky.

Sometimes, you will invest, the coin will first drop in price and annoying. Even bitcoin may first fall, not increasing for awhile before bulls will start buying.

One of the most common misconceptions regarding cryptocurrencies, in my opinion, is that they are anonymous. Although several cryptocurrencies are made to offer some degree of anonymity, they are not totally anonymous. On a public blockchain, every transaction is logged and linked to the wallet address of the user. To be clear, cryptocurrencies aren't totally anonymous even though they can provide a greater level of anonymity than conventional financial systems.
This is true. People that are using IP address directly will also think of that but which is wrong. There are some things you have to do before you can be anonymous while making transactions.
818  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make Una Avoid Ethnicity Here in the Forum. We're all One. on: December 27, 2023, 08:05:36 AM
In naija we get different tribes so e no go make sense make we bring any other language other than pidgin English. We making use of a general language here which is pidgin will unite us the more to live well with ourselves,  and e no go make sense other language here. For other local board they communicate with one language in their local board and e go well. Needs for other naija languages go make us to not focus and e go make us as naija people to dey behind in the forum.
On this board, two languages units us which is Pidgin and English. Not only Pidgin. In Nigeria, those are the two languages that United us. That is why we were able to serve in other states that are not ours because we know how to speak English and Pidgin. With the languages that United us, there is still ethnicity and tribalism in Nigeria. Do not let us deceives ourselves. Because you are communicating in English and Pidgin do not mean tribalism and ethnicity are no more existing in Nigeria or in anywhere including on this board.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does anyone keep an updated blockchain on his airgapped laptop? on: December 27, 2023, 07:43:46 AM
What if you save the blockchain files from the hot laptop and put them into the airgapped laptop? this way you would see your funds in your airgapped laptop too, it would be cooler than seeing 0 BTC.
The function of a airgapped device is to store your keys which can be used to sign your transaction. If you do what I quote, your airgapped wallet is no more airgapped as long as you do not see 0 BTC anymore. If you have a wallet on an airgapped device, you will have a watch-only wallet on another device which you will use to track your coins. It is also worth knowing that your coins are not stored on your wallet but rather on blockchain.
820  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: When last did you drank to stupol on: December 27, 2023, 07:08:31 AM
To some, alcohol is good, although medically sometimes it is prescribed, but it is used in a moderate manner, not by drinking 10 or even 12 bottles at a time, which is what is common among those who engage in the use of alcohol. The advice I will give here is to stay away from alcohol unless it is prescribed by a doctor in order to stay healthy.
Alcohol is not bad, short term too much consumption or long term consumption is what that is not good. Doctor do not have to prescribe to someone to drink alcohol. The only when to stop drinking alcohol is when doctor recommends someone not to take it anymore. But it is good to drink alcohol responsibly.
