381  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum seed words on Trezor Hardware Wallet on: March 07, 2024, 03:14:20 PM
Is that Trezor one? I think Trezor T and Trezor Safe 3 are generating 12 word seed phrases.

Do not be concerned about the length of your seed phrase. 12, 15, 18, 21 or 24 words are all BIP39 compatible. You can generate it on Trezor. It is also an open source wallet. Although, if the computer is completely airgapped and you know what you are doing and having no mistakes, it is also safe if you use Electrum.
382  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / NLC demands N794,000 minimum wage for workers in South West on: March 07, 2024, 01:43:37 PM
I have just found out that on January 30, 2024, president Tinubu through the vice president Kashim Shettima inauguratimed a 37-member panel on the new minimum wage in the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja. I have just noticed this just now.

The Nigeria Labour Congress is demanding for  ₦794000 as the new national minimum wage for workers in the South West geopolitical political zone.

https://punchng.com/breaking-nlc-demands-n794000-minimum-wage-for-workers-in-south-west/

What I was thinking before was that NLC was demanding for ₦200000 until I saw this today. Is ₦794000 not too much as the new mining wage?
383  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian lawmakers raise concern on crackdown on cryptocurrency platforms on: March 07, 2024, 09:21:08 AM
Mr Charles you and I know that post duplication/spamming is against the forum rules so why do we still support it t. Even if the current situation of our economy and crypto network is troubling, we still have to keep to standard and make things much easier for our selves. Assuming a single thread was created to discuss the issue of binance and Nigeria government actions, it would have made the local board look more organized. But now everyone is creating their own topic to discuss same issues with just new updates.

I was about to make comments in your thread when I found out that your thread has been locked, I don't know why but that will just bring about others creating thread for this same update. It pains me to see the local board like this, now the local board is more of a press forum than a Bitcoin as it main purpose of the forum.

May I ask why you locked your thread?
Like which thread? Do not let me repeat what I have posted. This is not just about Binance, although OP did not give it in details as it is on my thread. It is worth new thread.

Example of what do not worth new thread is if the Binance executives has been released from detention. That is not worth new thread. Know that this news is not just about Binance like I said before, it is about future of crypto legalization in Nigeria.

The reason that I locked my thread was the second post of the thread. That this thread we are posting currently was created before mine but I noticed it after I have created that thread. So we should further the discussion here so we would avoid repetitive posts.

Or do you think I should unlock it? If you people want that I can unlock it.
384  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian lawmakers raise concern on crackdown on cryptocurrency platforms on: March 07, 2024, 08:58:56 AM
If you check well for the local board you go notice say plenty topic don already they involve about this same case to they create thread about same binance and our govement issue when the other ones still they open and they accept discussion no really good and eh no they help at all. I go just advise you lock up this thread channel your discussion put for any of the active thread.
This is not just about Binance. It is about house of representatives stepping in. Also talking about resolution. This is more than just discussing about Binance, but discussing about the fate of crypto regulations in Nigeria and looking into knowing if cryptocurrencies exchanges should be banned not. But the news talks more about regulations, that if these exchanges are regulated, naira manipulation will not occur.
385  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Nigerian lawmakers raise concern on crackdown on cryptocurrency platforms on: March 07, 2024, 08:27:14 AM
Nigerian lawmakers raise concern on crackdown on cryptocurrency platforms, launch probe

I have noticed that not only Binanace website you will not be able to access, you can not also access other sites like Bybit, OKX, HTX and others. You can only access them through the app or using VPN to access their website. We that are crypto enthusiasts can plainly see what is causing the bad economy from how this our government is handling cryptocurrencies exchanges. Binance sent two executives to Nigeria but the government detained them. We know how the government can make these exchanges to have offices in Nigeria and regulate them instead, but they did not but prefer to go the wrong direction.

You need to read this:

The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, resolved to embark on the probe following a motion of urgent importance moved by Ibrahim Isiaka (APC, Ogun).

In the motion, Mr Isiaka said the current administration is sending mixed signals to the international community on its stance on cryptocurrencies amid the arrest of two executives of Binance and utterances by senior government officials.

Mr Isiaka said the actions of the government recently put the country “in bad light with regards to observance of global statutes on fundamental human rights and rule of law and portrays the country as being dishonest and incompetent.”

The lawmaker said the government’s claim that Binance and others are disrupting the foreign exchange market is not backed by sufficient fact. He also questioned the assertion by the Central Bank Governor, Yemi Cardoso, on the impact of Binance on the Naira.

He added, “The conflict with the government about whether or not the crypto exchanges are determining the local foreign exchange rate and usurping the functions of the national bank does not appear to arise in other developed climes where appropriate statutes and regulations have been enacted and enforced to superintend crypto and other digital asset transactions.”

While warning against an outright ban, Mr Isiaka said other jurisdictions have used fines and other means to regulate the cryptocurrency market instead of banning or arbitrary arrest.

This is not the first time we have been saying that our government are not competent, and we know that we are talking about the executive government which is the presidency. Even Mr Isiaka said it this time and also said how do they want the international community to see this by this their bad actions of arresting Binanace officials. Our government and their officials just do something inappropriately. This as been one of the reasons this country may not move forward the way it supposed to. As it is in crypto, so they handle things inappropriately generally.

The resolution
Following the presentation of the motion, which was not debated, the House mandated the Committee on National Security and Intelligence to investigate the current status of cryptocurrency, blockchain, digital asset transactions, all the online peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace, international money transfer operators, payment gateways and platforms, cloud computing, infrastructure (networks), utility sharing based platforms and their practices, in Nigeria to identify threats to National Security and gaps in legislative framework, statutes, and regulations to the detriment of the country.

The committee was asked to engage all relevant stakeholders to initiate the necessary processes for establishing required legislation and regulations.

Also, the committee is to Identify all the stakeholders operating in all categories listed above (1), and their operations in Nigeria and establish their profile (in line with Know Your Customer/Business protocol), such as legal status, and parent company.

The committee is to ensure equity, probity, transparency, the rule of law, and international best practices are observed by the government in investigating cryptocurrency exchanges and others.

The House also asked the committee to investigate the current status of the E-Naira on the global cryptocurrency platform, the cost incurred, the processes undertaken, and statutory compliance in creating the digital currency.

The committee was subsequently asked to report back to the House in three weeks for further legislative action.

386  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binace contribution to naira fall. on: March 06, 2024, 05:46:29 PM
Do you know that as at Monday it was around 1530. If u open the link you will also see the percent of increment.
I still stand to be corrected boss!
Likely I did not really understand how you construct that Pidgin. But let me tell you what happened, probably maybe that is what you meant also.

NCC told network providers to make Nigerians not to be able to access Binance website. Naira has began to increase in price at the time. Dollar decreased from almost 1900 to around 1400 to naira. It increased to around $1530 when I noticed Binance disabled the P2P few days ago. Binance announced yesterday (5th of March) that they will discontinue all naira services but dollar to naira is still around 1600.
387  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binace contribution to naira fall. on: March 06, 2024, 05:22:39 PM
Now dem say naira wey bin do Dy rise for like straight 3 days now don Dy fall again because Binance announce say dem go seize operation for nigeria thereby turning off the naira feature.
It is a lie. US dollar to naira just now is around $1600. So how is naira price appreciating against dollar? What I noticed that is happening recently is that naira is less volatile to dollar but its price slightly depreciated. Maybe it is naira that is depreciating in price or maybe it is dollar that is rising in price, I do not know. But the fact is that naira still depreciates in price to dollar recently.
388  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: S-starting mini private key sweep on: March 06, 2024, 02:35:24 PM
You do not need to convert the mini private key to another format. Just click on 'import bitcoin addresses or private keys keys' on Electrum and paste the private key. If it is valid, you will be able to click on next and successfully import it.

I have just tried both 22 and 30 character mini private keys and I was able to import both successfully on Electrum.
389  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Nigeria vs Binance on: March 06, 2024, 11:25:43 AM
What is this? The Nigerian government thinks that if CZ paid 4 billion to the US government, then it will agree to pay Nigeria?
What Bayo Onanuga told BBC was misinterpreted. We have discussed this on Nigeria local board.

Binance said government did not ask for $10 billion fine
390  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why the recent dip in bitcoin price? on: March 06, 2024, 06:11:10 AM
There is nothing much than people sold after bitcoin got to all-time-high and the price fall at the time to $59080 right from over $69000. It is normal for a market correction to happen. As you said, the price is increasing back and it is now at $66200.
391  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin Hit Previous All Time High Today. ($69,000) on: March 05, 2024, 08:24:39 PM
As it got to all-time-high, the whales are selling. Bitcoin fell to $59080 before it increased back to $62500.

What is your prediction before weekend and the end of the year?
In 2024, I guess it can go up to $100000.
392  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binance Will Discontinue Its Nigerian Naira Services After Government Scrutiny on: March 05, 2024, 07:00:33 PM
Instead of the government to look for ways to make Binance and all those other foreign exchanges to have offices in Nigeria so that they can regulate them and also be able to generate tax from Nigerians that are using the exchanges and also generating tax from Binance. Instead of that, they prefer to go the tough way of discouraging foreign businesses. If Binance do not provide the P2P services anymore, we can all see how those government officials handle the case like illiterates.
393  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Let's learn from Facebook on: March 05, 2024, 05:21:18 PM
The reason am bringing this up for discussion is  because some of us we think the social media and email are the best place to store important details.
That is foolishness.

Some people consider online as a good place of store for wallet seedphrase.
That is stupidity.

Anything can happen to the server of this social media where information are store and account might get lose which it will be so difficult to get the important information stored on it.
You can see how those online storage so called cloud made some people to lose money after hackers were able to have access to their seed phrase. But as for someone that does so on social media, that is stupidity.
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transfer of BTC from hardware wallet to swissmoney on: March 05, 2024, 02:58:44 PM
i don't know if this is the right place for this question but I would like to know what this means: "This wallet address only accepts tokens transferred by Bitcoin (BTC) network". If I transfer Bitcoin from a hardware wallet (BitBox), is it transferred by BTC network? How do I know which network it is using?
OmegaStarScream is right.

Although, bitcoin is not a token but a coin. I wonder why a wallet should call it token.
395  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Reps summon Binance boss over alleged terrorism financing, others on: March 05, 2024, 08:19:20 AM
Binance executives in NSA custody, can’t attend N’Assembly hearing – Lawyer

March 4 was yesterday and Binance CEO, Richard Teng and other Binance executives did not appear before House Committee on Financial Crimes but their Lawyers appeared. The Chairman of the House Committee, Obinna Ginger, declared that a warrant would be issued for their arrest.

Responding, however, Binance counsel, Senator Ihenyen, explained that the executive could not appear because they were in custody.

Ihenyen pleaded with the committee to accord the company ample time to appear before it, noting that two top shots of Binance who arrived in the country last week were arrested by the Office of the National Security Adviser

“Following the arrest of two executives, other persons could not come into Nigeria because they were afraid of arrest too. Binance has responded appropriately to the demands of the committee and as our client, we are pleading that this honorable committee consider taking the report,” said..

I think they want Binance CEO and other executives to appear before them but two of the executives are in NSA custody. How can someone that you arrested in your country appear on the day unless you wanted them to appear. Or maybe because Richard Teng did not come to Nigeria has been the reason the other two executives were not given the privilege to also appear before the House Committee on Financial Crimes.

397  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria House of Representative summons Binance CEO on: March 04, 2024, 05:35:45 PM
Di OP abeg make you take note say Charles-tim, start one thread wey im say Binance, talk say dem no receive any message say make dem pay any $10 billion fine, also Mr. Onanuga, don clarify say Nigeria, never ask Binance to pay di fine, and di news wey BBC carry about di matter no de correct.
I included the thread on my previous post on this thread.

I doubt say Binance CEO go honor dat kind summon to come answer to terrorism charges, because just like traditional banks wey legit people and criminals de do transactions through dem, na different characters de also do crypto businesses through exchanges, so if government no fit to fine or summon bank chiefs because of criminal customers, I no think say dem get di right to summon exchange CEO because of transactions wey people do through dem. Dis matter fit just be to distract ordinary Nigerians from di pressing issue of hunger wey de di country.
Nigeria has the right to summon him. But they have created threat already by detaining two Binance officials. If truly they know what they are saying, they can turn it to court case. But I guess it will not lead to that.
398  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Be Cautious of the wallet source you import your seeds phrase to on: March 04, 2024, 05:26:12 PM
Those fake apps were common on Google Play store before but now becoming common on App store. The best is to download the wallet from the official site and verify its signature.

When you are testing a new wallet software avoid importing your actual seed phrase containing your coins
Anyone that needs a reputed open source wallets can ask on this forum, even on local board and we will list some of the wallets that we are familiar with on this forum which are definitely reputed.
399  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria House of Representative summons Binance CEO on: March 04, 2024, 02:31:36 PM
This is two days ago news and we have discussed and discussing about it from a thread that I created.

Reps summon Binance boss over alleged terrorism financing, others

They have shutdown Binance in Nigeria, they have closed their P2P and denied Nigerians access to the exchange. Nigerians have accepted, withdrawn their monies and moved one. But here is Nigerian government still doing eye-service with Binance as if they are working. We all know where all these busy body go end. Them wan shake the exchange to see if them fit collect small money, typical of people that want to reap where they did not sow.
You can still access Binance through the mobile app. You can still withdraw naira using Cashlink which is a merchant's P2P network. You can still use sell crypto for naira on Binance.
400  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Network issues these days on: March 04, 2024, 02:25:05 PM
Your location could be the reason. My network is good. But I noticed that the 4G network is not as good as before when there was no 5G in the town that I am living. But as we have 5G now, the 4G is not as good as before, although not totally bad. My 4G router got damaged. I have a better Internet experience with my 5G phone and when I connect my 5G router with my old 4G phone.

Or if you are very rich, you can go for Starlink which its internet connection can be good even in places that the ISP networks are not good.
