321  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our newbies de ternish Nigeria, image too much for main boards on: March 16, 2024, 09:52:37 PM
Yes i could remember when you said that if something is going wrong in our country shouldn't or be wise for us to share it and express our pain. I dont see at as a bad idea but it should be done in our local board and not outside our board. We are not the only country going through economical problems but we take our own too extreme and let these white folks look down on us like we are worthless. And that is one main reason why if a reputation against any member of our board is brought up there wont be no delay to take actions without hearing from the parties. We have shown our weaknesses and they now feed on them using it against us. Let us avoid creating thread about our country outside this board i am not in support of it.
I like what you post. It would be better if it is posted on local board. And other people can give their own opinions. It would be good if posts like that can be reported to be moved to local board. I have reported some in the past that were moved to local board. I will report the post and see if it will be moved to our local board.
322  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Local crypto exchanges go fit survive for Nigeria? on: March 16, 2024, 09:29:50 PM
I was about to make topic on this but you are faster but not in details. I will do the explanation here because the news are not talking about Required Minimum Paid up Capital which was ₦500 million naira before, it is now ₦1 billion.

To under it better, you will need to read the document from SEC. This is it: https://sec.gov.ng/proposed-major-amendment-to-the-rules-on-issuance-offering-platforms-and-custody-of-digital-assets-to-stakeholders-and-the-general-public/

I download the PDF file for convenient reading.

Go to:

PART D -Registration of Digital Asset OfferingPlatform
PART E -Registration of Digital AssetExchange
PART F -Registration of Digital AssetCustodian

These are what those news are referring to, but skipped Required Minimum Paid up Capital which is most costly. If you do not have that amount after paying all those fee, you can not have crypto service license in Nigeria.

Go to page 18/19, 37/38 and 50. You will see it.

I can remember some people complained that this will not encourage crypto business establishment in Nigeria but the second increase the amounts as naira devalues.

Chambers of Digital Commerce said Binance officials detention is unlawful and demand response of the United States president

We know this will definitely lead to what is happening now. See what Chambers of Digital Commerce said about Nigeria detention of Binance officials which I definitely know that one of the two or both of them are US citizens:

This incident demands a robust response from the United States. We call upon President Biden and the U.S. government to employ every diplomatic measure to ensure Mr. Gambaryan’s immediate release. The unwarranted detention of Tigran Gambaryan is more than a legal issue; it is a matter of national dignity and the protection of American citizens worldwide. We stand in solidarity with Mr. Gambaryan and his family during this trying time and urge swift action to rectify this grave injustice.

Tinubu’s government seeks fresh court order to keep Binance officials in detention

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government has approached an Abuja magistrates’ court for an order to extend the detention of two Binance officials, Tigran Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen, and British-Kenyan Nadeem Anjarwalla. After the expiration of the first court order to detain the duo on Tuesday, “Economic Financial Crimes Commission has asked a chief magistrates’ court in Abuja to extend their (Mr Gambaryan and Mr Anjarwalla) detention while investigations continue,” Reuters reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the case.

Submarine cable repairs may last five weeks – MainOne

MainOne which is a provider of submarine cable systems said the repair of the damaged underwater cable can take up to 5 weeks. I have just noticed that USSD code were even affected.

MainOne, a leading provider of submarine cable systems, has revealed that the repair process for its damaged submarine cable may take up to five weeks.

The disruption left numerous major Nigerian banks offline, causing inconvenience to customers who were unable to access banking apps or utilise USSD services.

The company does not only support commercial and microfinance institutions with connectivity and hybrid cloud solutions. It also provides services to major telecom operators, ISPs, government agencies, small to large enterprises, and educational institutions.

MainOne has reassured its customers of its dedicated efforts to expedite the repair process and promptly restore network connectivity.

I hope they will repair it as soon as possible. 5 weeks is too long.
326  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to solve network issues for men and airtel on: March 16, 2024, 03:06:29 PM
I no know how VPN can improve your network speed, AFAIK, VPN sev dey reduce network speed rather than to increase it.
If you use a good VPN, it can not reduce network speed. What I can say about this is that VPN is good to bypass restriction but some people will end up using non recommended ones. But to use VPN to access centralized exchanges and gambling sites is not also advisable.

VPN na for privacy and for security, i have never known it to be for this purpose wey you talk now. The network wahala dey very frustrating, but i think the Airtel network is somewhat better today, but MTN is still very bad.
Two people told me that Airtel is not as bad as MTN. I use Glo and it is good. I have been using it since yesterday and works excellently.

If this is about the poor network connection, I think we should not abandon the old thread. There are some good replies there: Nor be Your Data Finish,  Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could supermarkets use local servers to accept Bitcoin in a banking failure? on: March 16, 2024, 02:40:43 PM
Do not mind me, I do not really understand what you are expressing. There is nothing like local servers. If you have a bitcoin wallet, there are many servers that you can connect to automatically which are available, all the servers can not all go down or stop working at ones.
328  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to solve network issues for men and airtel on: March 16, 2024, 01:54:52 PM
I will not advise anyone to use VPN that is full of ads as the VPN providers are giving your data to third party. VPN is not secure as using normal network. Or use paid VPN and the ones that has no ads.

You can still use exchanges mobile apps without VPN to access the exchanges.
329  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nor be Your Data Finish, Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am on: March 16, 2024, 08:07:48 AM
But make we wait oo,, nah everytime nai we go dey hear different stories? First nah them deactivate p2p from binance because of some kind of government policies, and now network wahala done join, this country no want make we get any access to crypto or waiting?
This has nothing to do with P2P. Read the OP again because the OP included the reason which is the damage to underwater internet cable that is causing the issue.

Na only MTN I dey use but I don too suffer since yesterday, I no even fit Access most of the applications wey dey my phone
Two people told me that they are using Airtel and they said the network is good. I used Glo yesterday and the network was also good. Try to get one of them.

Last year, Starlink was sold at 300k. This year it is now 800k. The price of Starlink is about to go up times two. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford it so we just have to make do with what with have by this I mean buying data bundles on all the different ISPs we have and switching between them intermittently whenever the internet delays on one.
That does not change the fact that if there is not network again that people will prefer to use it. When Russia destroyed the mast of network providers in Ukraine capital, Elon Musk donated some for Ukraine which they were using to access the Internet.

P2p should wait until the network is restored and continue the transaction from whate it stopped.
Use Glo. Glo network is good.
330  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Network issues these days on: March 16, 2024, 07:54:46 AM
Yeah you are right about location but this days network no be matter of location, the place wey I Dey, I Dey the place like many years now and the place network too good that is why i like the place sef, this days na so network be, network no good at all, na everybody Dey complain about network this days, so I no see anything wey concern the location wey person Dey here, network na all over and if things sup na all over e go affect everybody, e no matter 4G or 5G phone, even if you are using 10G and network no good my broda na the same thing e go be, na waiting be main problem this days, this one wey I talk no mean say you no get points ooh but this time now we Dey bad network period.
You are not getting it right. This thread was created on the 5th of March when the network was very good. It was a day before yesterday which was 14th of March that the recent network issue began. Some hours that day on the same 14th of March, MTN sent his customers messages and it was also all over the news. The reason this thread was created has been shifted to what is happening recently, but this is not the correct thread for it.

This is the correct thread for what is happening recently: Nor be Your Data Finish,  Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am
331  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nor be Your Data Finish, Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am on: March 15, 2024, 05:26:23 PM
I read somewhere that Glo 1 is still working good but I do not know if it is the Glo network used in Nigeria or another country but owned by Globacom. I guess it is Glo and I have just used it right now and it is working perfectly. I have no problem using it to browse.

I saw it here and I tested it and it is working good
Glo 1 up and running as other networks suffer cable failures

In addition to what OmegaStarScream posted already

This is one of the reasons I use passphrase to extend my seed phrase in a way my coins can not just be easily stolen also through offline attack. Hope your seed phrase is not compromised offline where you store the backup?

Also you do not have to believe in antivirus. Avoid malware instead. Probably malware can cause it.
333  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nor be Your Data Finish, Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am on: March 14, 2024, 09:53:23 PM
Now we go back to the question, say if we nor get internet for many weeks, wetin be your other strategies to access the internet and send Bitcoin in case of P2P or from your exchange wallet to your soft wallet?
I forgot to give my own opinion about this question. You will see more Nigerians ordering for Starlink.
334  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are your assets safe on Kraken?? on: March 14, 2024, 09:42:28 PM
I really need to figure something out, because I haven't got a hard wallet yet. For a simple reason that I thought my money is safe on the exchange.
I do not know much about altcoins, but bitcoin developers gives you so many options.

If you have a computer that you are no more using it, you can use it as a cold storage wallet.
If you have 2 or 3 devices (phone, computer or tablet), you can use 2 of them or more to setup a multisig wallet.
If you want to hold, you can go for Electum 2FA wallet. Having your 2FA on another device which can even remain offline.
335  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nor be Your Data Finish, Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am on: March 14, 2024, 05:30:05 PM
I have not been posting on Bitcointalk and Altcoinstalks today because I was thinking the Internet will be good but this is evening time and I am still having a bad Internet experience which is very frustrating since morning.

Why is it websites that are affected? YouTube is good and fast on the app. Exchanges apps are loading fast.
336  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our newbies de ternish Nigeria, image too much for main boards on: March 14, 2024, 04:15:07 PM
This is the third of this thread in just few weeks. I did against this type of thread in the past because I knew we may be posting about something like this in new threads continuously and it is happening. I am not against giving your own opinion on the threads you people are referring to but no need of creating new thread about it.
337  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Government demanding from Binance the lists of its Nigerian users on: March 13, 2024, 03:58:22 PM
To be frank if this is through a legal means then binance may have no other choice than to review it to them but reading the news I didn't see anything like they having banking from SEC and it's disappointing that the 2 binance executives are still detained, I thought they would have released them after mass critics.

To be honest I wonder how true are the other charges against binance aside the tax liabilities that would warrant $10 billion fine and till now Binance hasn't spoken to the public about it which makes the entire situation here weird.
I saw this just now but I do not know how true it is, that Tinubu government will release Binance executives if Binance release the names of the top 100 users and their transactions in the last 6 months. I think this is more detailed than the previous one.

Tinubu demanded names, transaction details of top 100 Binance users in Nigeria before release of detained executives: Report

Let us see what will am happen.
338  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Government demanding from Binance the lists of its Nigerian users on: March 13, 2024, 01:47:35 PM
I no come dey understand this feed matter again oo, shabi na our law board naim come outside say this our actions no nice and e dey send mixed signals to the international. But seeing this one again, I no come understand, though na probability say Dem fit charge binance with the $10 billion. But that kind thing no nice at all. Then this list of users wey Dem wan still take, that na another problem, my question na wattin Dem wan use am do? Abi Dem wan still arrest the users like as them do to some BDC agents?
The house of rep opinion can be different from the executive arm and also from the regulators. We should not just talk about that for now. There would be a reason Nigeria government are detaining those Binance officials and there is possibility of asking for fine. Let us wait and see them in action. But, yes, that is not wrong at all, what the government are doing is not right. Leave the executives alone and go for lawsuit.

Nigeria presses Binance for user data on 100 top local users

The $10 billion might later be demanded from Binance. Also that Nigeria government wants Binance to give them the lists of top 100 Nigerian users. Also that they have requested Binance to pass the transaction history of the top 10 users for the past six months

340  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: I need di best Wallet for Ethereum. on: March 13, 2024, 12:34:16 PM
As Nigeria you know say we no get am so no need to recommend an for people but all those software wallets na good to recommend because dem dey easy to get it.
Some stores has it in Nigeria but which I will not recommend because they are not official resellers and the price is huge. You can get it from the official website and they will deliver it to you in Nigeria.
