1721  Economy / Goods / Re: Zimbabwe Banknotes: You're a Trillionair! But in Zimabwe. on: January 13, 2013, 03:06:18 AM
I think Zimbabwe is the US somewhere down the line-hopefully not our lifetime. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ubJp6rmUYM
(Summary: In Zimbabwe, banknotes are only worth the paper they're printed on. Although, the notes shown in the film were of much smaller denomination; 20, 50, etc. So, to buy literally anything you have to pay in gold. So everyone mines gold all day, everyday. 1 loaf of bread goes for .1 gram of gold)
Yes, these notes are  a novelty. Even the coin/paper money collecting world has embraced them for their absurd nature. So whats funny is these things are worth money-and will probably be worth more soon. They're all over eBay for several dollars a note.
What I'm curious about is how that guy who does the YouTube video got all of his notes. Because even though the whole thing is a joke, he has A LOT of banknotes. Know what else is sad? I have seen a few videos where people are actually investing in these banknotes. They've sold all their silver and gold to buy these things and they're just waiting til "the US invests in Zimbabwe banknotes". Some people are SO DUMB.
1722  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dank got a Scammer Tag? on: January 13, 2013, 02:56:18 AM
Honestly you're probably right about the drug thing. Although I don't think its weed or LSD. I think Dank was on something addictive (pain pills in particular). His vision of a concert and all that shit working out is something you'd only imagine if you were out of this world. And I'd bet some money that nearly every bitcoin Dank made on here went to some guy on Silk Road. If all thats the case I feel sorry for the guy, I really do. Unfortunately I don't think that guy will be getting his 40 BTC back. If you're reading this Dank-get yourself some help, life is better without that shit.

1725  Economy / Digital goods / *NEW [BEST SO FAR] Domain Added* Prime BTC/LTC [.com] Domains Available on: January 12, 2013, 06:12:38 AM
I have a number of solid BTC domain names available for sale. The site I registered them on said I can transfer in 60 days (posted 30 days ago), although I thought it was longer. Either way, I would draft up a contract wherein you pay now to reserve the domain and I am legally obligated to release it to you ASAP. However, you do not have to wait any period of time after you purchase the domain to begin using it; I can simply tell the registrars what DNS to point it to. ALL PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE! Feel free to make me an offer-any offer!
Anyways, I have:

1. bitcoinwallbit.com-online wallet?:
2. littlebitcoin.com-exchange site? LTC exhange site?:   SOLD
3. justabitcoin.com-exchange site/marketplace?:
4. onlyforabitcoin.com-exchange site/marketplace?:

I just discovered 17.80 in Euro from a previous trip to Europe. Unfortunately, 7.80 is in coins (=heavy). I will ship all of them anywhere in the US for 1.5BTC. If you are abroad and can find a cheap way for me to get these to you (weight=3 oz), we can arrange something.

*I will ship the 10 Euro note anywhere for .75 BTC

1733  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Whats Up w/BitMit on: January 08, 2013, 04:41:47 AM
It's been down for nearly two days, now. Tosaki's obviously aware of it, and says he's fixing it (waiting for datacenter to respond). I'm guessing there's a sustained DDoS attack. For some reason, he said the site was slow and might need a hardware upgrade (maybe I misinterpreted and he's talking about DDoS-prevention hardware)... vast majority being unable to reach the site vs. the site loading slowly are two different things. If he hadn't have said the site's just slow, I would've assumed maybe a hard drive crashed. Dunno, though.
What do you think that mean for anyone who had transactions in progress?
Probably nothing, assuming nothing was compromised. Assuming it'll just poof back up within a couple days as quickly as it poofed away. If someone shipped an item out, or is waiting for escrow to be released, the transaction will just take a bit longer since they can't update status on Bitmit.

I think Tosaki said he was waiting on datacenter to respond and it should be within 12 hours. I think he may've said that ~6-12 hours ago, though.

The paranoid may want to start making sure they didn't use BitMit password anywhere sensitive. I'm not exactly sure how BitMit handles wallet funds, but probably safe. Not like anyone could withdraw... so just a waiting game for users to see if it'll just be a short outage or something worse.
Thanks for the peace of mind.
