1881  Economy / Goods / Re: Gold 1926 2 1/2 Dollar Indian Coin on: December 07, 2012, 01:23:15 AM
...They're simply indistinguishable from the real ones. The gold is cold, heavy and has a natural patina.

Unless the fake is made from real gold then it will be very much distinguishable from the real one. Given the price I doubt it is made from real gold so it will not be nearly as heavy as the real one. Perhaps from looking alone you could not tell, but if someone picked it up they would know right away.

Your title is misleading. I came here because the title indicated a gold coin only to read that it was a replica.
No, of course this isn't real gold. Although, coins are always kept in some kind of case. Either one from when they were graded, a hard-shell one or even the cheapest cardboard/plastic film type case.
This since its so small (the size of a penny) is dense, and feels a lot more real than a bigger gold coin replica.
I think the realism with this coin is incredible. It even has a patina on it that a natural gold coin would. I think its definitely worth 1 BTC to somebody.
About the title-I apologize, its revised.

Instawallet will work beautifully on iPhones, and it will even take advantage of the Passbook app so you can have easy and instant access to your Instawallet's QR code.
Thanks everyone, but this is the winner. Grin
1884  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is the Greatest Holder of Bitcoins? on: December 06, 2012, 09:14:45 AM
The private person with the most BTC is probably ArtForz

Edit: Forgot that guy below. Yes, if he wasn't entirely stupid it's pirate.

But I can really imagine that he lost most of the coins himself by trying to manipulate the market and has "only" something around a 100.000 left. Surprisingly Ponzi operators often convince themselves that their plan actually works and are caught by surprise when their ponzi collapses.

GOT EM
1885  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your area of residence? on: December 06, 2012, 09:11:58 AM
And I know that people can put their location if they want. However, I think most people just never get to that.
Including you, apparently.
lol got me
1886  Economy / Economics / Re: You Know Whats f**king Sad? on: December 06, 2012, 09:09:57 AM
I'm sorry but I haven't the faintest what you are on about, your post isn't coherent enough to really convey anything. Better luck next time.
Alright, apparently I have to simplify it for you.
Before Eisenhower eliminated the Silver Standard, every $note represented a certain bit of silver. If you had $5 you could go to the bank and get $5 in silver (as in silver certificates).
Now, our (USA) currency is tied to NOTHING. Literally it is a piece of paper. What gives things value? Utility and scarceness. Obviously dollar bills don't have much utility. But they have a certain degree of rarity. However, the Fed Rsrv can print as much money as it wants, causing inflation and making $1 worth less.
Bottomline: only FINITE forms of currensy work (gold, silver, etc). Our money system is INFINITE and therefore gives way to inflation.
make more sense?
1887  Economy / Goods / Re: Anonymous Instant Reloadable VISA card on: December 06, 2012, 09:02:39 AM
I question the anonymity aspect of the reloadable cards aside from the possibility of the OP knowing the number and CVV. I tried a reloadable Visa but to use it I needed to give Greendot my social security number and would have had to fax proof of residence (or something along those lines) i.e. bank statement, electric bill etc. So that wasn't what I would consider anonymous they ended up sending me a check for the balance I had loaded on the card.

I have since used a few non reloadable gift debit cards from AMEX and Visa without problems, only thing you need to tie to those cards is a zip code so that's not bad IMO.
AMEN
1888  Economy / Goods / Gold 1926 2 1/2 Dollar Indian Coin [INDISTINGUISHABLE REPLICA] on: December 06, 2012, 05:07:00 AM
Up for sale is a Replica 1926 2 1/2 dollar gold coin. But I could tell you it was real and you wouldn't know. This isn't the replica you see on some eBay tutorial. I know the factory manager in China these come from. They're simply indistinguishable from the real ones. The gold is cold, heavy and has a natural patina.
Price is 1 BTC including shipping.

I think there's a train that works this way. In Switzerland.
1891  Economy / Services / Re: Turn Your Junk Silver into a Stamped Silver Bar! on: December 05, 2012, 11:00:16 PM
I can make a round for you in any size/weight. I'm on the west coast. It'd probably be smartest to do priority flat rate boxes.
1892  Economy / Goods / Re: Silver 1904S Barber Half Dollar on: December 05, 2012, 10:42:34 AM
If you post a picture of the back (including your screen name in the pic would be great) and agree to use escrow, Ill buy it.
I urge you to check my other postings. I am opposed to escrow only at the moment because getting money now is why I'm so frequently posted on here. If you pay for it you get it. I have a collection of Barber Halves-why would I not send one to someone else who payed me? If you want the picture w/my name thing tomorrow, thats fine. I hate these types of things (no offense to you). I just want to reach in through the computer shake your hand and tell you its in the mail.
1893  Economy / Goods / Re: 2 x Professionally Made Double Headed Quarters: .325 BTC Shipped on: December 05, 2012, 10:21:17 AM
Just that there is NO way I and most people could do that. The borders even look the same as a regular quarter. I know they're not error coins or something-I just think they're cool to have. I guess I used "professionally" because there is some sweathouse full of Chinese "professionals".

1895  Economy / Goods / Tiffany & Co. "Atlas" Money Clip [Price Reduced] on: December 05, 2012, 09:44:26 AM
I'm sure I hold the record for the most posts in the last 3 days. Just understand I'm trying to get into the BTC "game". I want to look at my wallet and see like 100 in there. So I'm going to post anything I think someone might be interested in. I apologize if I made the forum annoyed.

Anyway, this is a good replica Tiffany & Co Atlas 925 Money Clip. This is a "past season" piece and Tiffany being what it is only puts their current lineup for sale. But to get an idea what real ones go for, check this out: http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/CategoryBrowse.aspx?cid=96681&mcat=148212#p+1-n+12-cg+viewPaged-c+96681-s+5-r+101288142-t+-ri+-ni+1-x+-pu+-f+

This things nice and shiny, heavy, and has a tight clasp. Roman numerals on the back (it was from Tiffany "Atlas" Collection a year or two ago. The front you probably read, but it says simply: "Tiffany & Co 925.

I am asking 0.7 for this thing, which I think is fair. Price includes shipping within US.
Thanks!

1896  Economy / Economics / You Know Whats f**king Sad? on: December 05, 2012, 09:15:05 AM
First of all, the need to create Bitcoins. But even more than that-bitcoins are tied to the USD. And do you know HOW MANY people are buying silver/gold instead of taking their "paper". Cause thats what it is-paper. Even change will be soon. Mr GreenJew (no offense) just stays posted all day making as much money as he wants. The reason things 99% of the time are raised in  price is because of inflation-GreenJew got excited and printed a bunch more.
Basically, the USD is backed by...not even the US (its not Federal)paper?
Now, we've stepped back in time to when the Silver Standard existed.
We are almost literally repeating historical economics that did not work out so well.
God help us.
1897  Other / Beginners & Help / Who is the Greatest Holder of Bitcoins? on: December 05, 2012, 08:51:02 AM
Sorry, technically I'm not a "n00b" but I was afraid of  embarrassing myself (no offense to you guys).
This is it: is there one greatest BTC holder and do we know who he or she(unlikely) is? Or is that just not public at all. My guess would be high-ups at mtgox and other exchange sites and believe it or not Silk Road-the tor site you can buy drugs from. I read an article that it was 22 million/year. Now I expect that is gross. taking percentage of purchases or whatever else they do to make money, those guys (shit maybe even just 1) are, I'm sure, SWIMMIN in it.
Even if you dont know who we can speculate back and forth. Trying to get something going here.

1899  Economy / Goods / 2 x Professionally Made Double Headed Quarters: .325 BTC Shipped on: December 05, 2012, 06:39:52 AM
I didn't plan to sell these things for so cheap...I've had em since I was a kid. I got one as change one time and so did my dad. They are a double headed quarter but you would NEVER be able to tell. They're just something cool to have. Take advantage of the quick BTC spike! One of em is '74 both sides, one is '89 and '83 on either side-you'll see in pictures. Curious to see if anyone is interested in these.

1900  Economy / Goods / Re: [REDUCED 5%].99 Silver Below Spot (Seriously) INVEST ! on: December 05, 2012, 05:43:55 AM
Yes, but obviously on a smaller scale. You guys have the math correct. The simplest way to put it is making the 7.5% the .1%. The example I discussed last night-you have .9 grams of 90% silver. When melting the silver (say its a coin), you add borax and heat only long enough for the silver to become molten (you already added .1 grams of shot which has purity of .99 to make a gram of pure silver), and then you pour into the mold. I have recently gotten into melting. Initially I just had a crucible and I'd melt everything in there to make a round. this was 92.5% silver. Now I have a graphite mold. The borax helps, but silver melts at 1761 degrees F and copper melts at 1981 degrees F. That discrepancy of 200 degrees means a significant amount of time in heating (all I use is a pencil torch with MAPP gas). If you watch any video on youtube of people melting silver, right when it is about to reach its melting point the melter picks it up (w/tongs of course) and shakes it around. It looks like a silver egg yolk. What's happening is they're capturing all the silver on the walls of the crucible before they pour into the mold. The copper stays in the crucible. You can see in this picture of my melting gear:

So if you are not careful casting in sterling silver, you wind up with a higher purity? That doesn't seem right.

No, exactly the opposite. There is about a 200 degree difference between where silver melts and where copper does. If you heat the mixture longer you end up with lower purity, because you have melted the copper along with the silver. When you reach silver's melting temperature you must maintain the threshold between its melting temperature and copper's melting temperature, so when you pour you are only pouring molten silver, not copper. The copper is supposed to stay in the crucible. It's quite simple. You see that picture? Thanks to borax (which works like PAM), you can gather the molten silver even if it rests on near-molten copper. The empty spot you see in the crucible is where I collected and poured the silver. The rest is copper. Occasionally I have to heat my crucible up hot enough to get the copper molten so I can pour it and thus clean it out. I actually have a nice little piece of copper bullion going too : )
