1861  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should be the overall speed(Mhash) for 2 radeon 7970? on: February 24, 2013, 04:11:50 PM
What should be the total rate for two Radeon 7970?
Use the Linux system
Program: cgminer 2.10.5
That he wrote to me:
(5s) 783M (avg) 626 Mh / s
GPU 0: 69C 5073RPM 322.6M/314Mh/s A: 192
GPU 1: 46C 1070RPM (Huh) 322.2M/313.5Mh/s A: 223

Until the hour i use it, statistics on the pool says 572 Mh / s
Tell that to the normal speed for 2 video cards or something I did wrong?
Why in the second rotational speed is so small and the temperature is lower?
I would be grateful for answers.

Outside card is always cooler as it gets better access to the air. And that is way too low for your hash rate on mine I used to use this in my .cgminer/cgminer.conf.

Code:

"intensity" : "8,8",
"gpu-engine" : "0-1100,0-1100",
"gpu-memclock" : "950,950",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"auto-fan" : true,
"auto-gpu" : true,
"temp-target" : "75",
"gpu-fan" : "0-100",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "1",
"retry-pause" : "5",
"scan-time" : "60",
"donation" : "0",
"shares" : "0",
"api-listen" : true,
"api-network" : true,
"api-port" : "4028",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"

I have modified it for your use give these settings a try it should just about double your hash rate. You may even want to raise the "temp-target" : "75" to 80 depending on how hot you want the card to get or if it starts to throttle at that temperature.

What would the cgminer .bat look like to get those same settings?

Maybe it's someone trying to hold down the price of SDICE so they can buy more up.
1863  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is litecoin on: February 21, 2013, 02:44:38 PM
It's much cheaper to get into than bitcoin as well.
If I want 100 USD purchasing power in bitcoin, it will cost me ~100 USD.
If I want 100 USD purchasing power in litecoin, it will cost me ~100 USD.

How is ~100 USD much cheaper than ~100 USD?

That's funny, I thought to myself, someone will skewer me for saying that. Yes, $100 = $100, I'm aware.

...It's cheaper to acquire whole coins is all I meant, which is irrelevant to most people, but a psychological factor to some.
1864  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is litecoin on: February 21, 2013, 02:21:54 PM
While Bitcoin is what is popular, it is likely that Litecoin will end up being the "Silver" to Bitcoin's "Gold". Or, the $1 bill to Bitcoin's $100 bill.

It works very similarly to Bitcoin, and there are many services that accept it. You can also convert LTC to BTC at an exchange like BTC-E.com, thus allowing you to do pretty much anything with it.

It's much cheaper to get into than bitcoin as well.

I believe bets of 1BTC and higher are processed differently. Search around, I know it's been mentioned before.

FYI: I have withdrawn my bid via PM.

Lame. People shouldn't be pulling out after the fact...

Vezunchik, now you are confusing me. Can an independent party parse this thread for the correct final winners? Or is Goat just going to settle discrepancies with extra shares to sell?

I've already sold some assets to free up the coins for my 100 shares, and would like to make sure I'm not wasting my time and some margin.

Double click an address and right click for your copy or hit Ctrl+C. Old timer.

gotta be fast, the highlight only stays until the next blink Sad that's the problem.

Double click with the right hand Ctrl+C with the left. I did it 10 times in a row with different addresses and didn't miss one... I dunno. Or copy the whole damn page into a spreadsheet and grab the address you need.

...Or, fix the website (is the point, I think).
1870  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 19, 2013, 03:48:30 PM
Besides the good old momentum or the need for a hyperbolic move what keeps pushing the price up?

Who is buying at these levels, in detail where do they get all that cash? It's mid month so people haven't got their wages and there is plenty of time till the next ones arrive. I get the burning suspicion that ppl are maxing out their credit cards right now... I get the incentive that the price moves up but why now?

It's new money from people hearing about bitcoin, plus the weekly investments of current bitcoin speculators. People keep buying because they only look back as far as they bought in.

If Johnny Speculator hears about bitcoin because of Mega or Reddit, and then moves $5000 in savings @ $27/BTC, plus a little from each paycheck, he's got his eyes on his value going up to $50/BTC. It keeps snowballing from there.

This is a  Auctions thread. You can't edit posts. And moderators can't do it too, I think...
Oh..oops, sorry for all the posts. Meant to edit my first one, but it appears the "edit" button is missing...  Undecided

Mods, feel free to delete this post and the one before it with just the quote.

Ha, yeah so I noticed Undecided

Well anyway, back to the original question: Goat, why are you offering them at .38 when they were originally purchased at .1? What makes these 2000 shares so special that they require a 380% markup?

Because that's what the market rate is this week, there are a number of threads selling at higher prices.

1880  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] SDICE Passthru on: February 12, 2013, 09:28:03 PM
As someone who was initially very impressed with the fund, I am now left wondering -- why hasn't Havelock taken advantage of the order book and filled the orders with new share units created from the MPEX sell side? I am sure there is a certain level of desire to keep the Havelock fund trading at X% premium for what ever reason, but it is not really a good reason... I don't think it's right for the fund to trade at an upwards of 20% premium to the underlying. For instance, right now there are 7000 shares on MPEX at an ask of .0063, and the Havelock bid is up to .736 for 21 units (2100 mpex shares).

There are only a few ways to resolve this issue, which is of course an issue because it means people are over paying by a significant amount. One would be: let people convert MPEX shares into the Havelock pass thru units. The other would be: Havelock manages their order book as any broker would, and matches supply to demand, simply buying the units on MPEX and flipping them to the bids on Havelock.

This arbitrage needs to take place for the market to remain healthy, and frankly I am left feeling suspect as to why this hasn't already occurred. It seems to me (please correct me if I am wrong) that there is nothing stopping Havelock from buying the shares on MPEX, creating units (incrementing a SQL entry) on Havelock, and selling them to the market. It would be better for all parties involved if this kind of additional liquidity would be provided to Havelock shareholders.

I believe it is the duty of the fund to take advantage of these market dislocations when they exist to improve the overall efficiency, structure, and liquidity of our dear BTC markets. Look forward to hearing a response from James et al

I don't see any problem with Havelock choosing whether or not to fill asks, regardless of the price. New investors are welcome to get cheaper shares wherever they can find them.
