If 'science' says the earth is going to die unless we pay carbon taxes to the U.N., that's what you teach. If 'science' says that people purple penguins are often born into the wrong sex and can choose their gender and get their junk hacked off if they don't feel comfortable with it, that's what you teach. BTW, you keep somehow converting my 'classroom' to your 'school'. As I said, I don't in principle have anything against collective support of basic education, and I've never complained about the fairly significant amount of taxes I pay to make it happen. |

Do you even know what Bible teaches? No, and I don't care very much. Same with the countless other religious texts. I was a science buff when I was a kid, and (until I went to a school which had a top notch science teacher) I learned almost everything I knew about science on my own. If my science teacher taught me that 'it's turtles all the way down', it would have been beneficial since I would have learned skepticism at a more opportune time. Some say that it is unfair that some kids get a leg up by having a good teacher. I'm not convinced of this, and even if it is true, so what? I mean, most kids are not destined to become scientists, and many eminent scientists cropped up at times and places where education and society was decidedly non-secular. |

You know it is good to have a skeptical mindset. I teach my kid this. Don't trust what your teachers tell you. Don't trust what I tell you. Figure things out by yourself. If you have questions, I'm here to help, but you have to do your own research. The problem we have now is that some people are trying to reverse scientific progress by bringing up a bronze age science and philosophy to school. It would be ok if they taught it for what it is. But Bible is presented as a word of God, not to be questioned. That is the problem. In science, everything needs to be questioned. That is how science works. There is no room for Bible in the science classroom because it cannot be questioned and exposed for what it really is. |

Many of us would like righteousness and perfection, and that is what God is making, especially when he lets adamant atheists die. So yeah... about that... How long until Jesus returns again? Do you realize Christians have been saying he will return any day now... for 2000 years?... still waiting... They always refer to Revelation... about the increase in wars and such... and they have been pointing to war after war for 2000 years... so which war is the bible referring to, and when? Don't you realize that it is usually less than 100 years until Jesus returns for people - one way or the other? The next thing they will see after the close their eyes in death, is Jesus calling them out of the grave. He is almost here for you. |
