Part of me is glad I didn't invest in this when I had the chance, Seeing how bad it looks to be turning out =\.
I'm enjoying my asicminer shares, but even these tend to scare me for some reason.
Hope BFL does indeed ship or at least refund the people who have invested deeply into this.

I also hope BFL delivers. Partly because I have a Jalapeno on order, but mostly just to shut up the pathetic nay-sayers in here once and for all.

There is no reason to why they shouldnt ship as long as they are able to produce chips. As far as I understand, the problem was chips performing badly or not working at all.

InSpades, Read this Post This is true ranlo, however this will present significant ethical challenges as Defendants can hold reverse auctions and everybody loses. Only the Lawyers win.
Like I said, Only the Lawyers win. Isn't that the usual outcome?

I truly hope BFL ships sometime soon. I've had a miner on order for around 6 months now, though I understood it could be awhile going in. In the long run I'd like to see ASIC miners become commonplace as I think it would be good for Bitcoin both in terms of security and in keeping it decentralized. With that said, the wait may be hurting those goals in the short term as people have held of adding more GPUs and FPGAs thinking that their ASICs would come any day now.

That has to be the stupidest fucking reason to want something to happen I've ever heard of. I hope BFL delivers because I don't like seeing people get ripped off. If I thought like a moron like you thinks, I would hope BFL defaults just to see a loser like you take it in the shorts. Welcome to ignore, idiot.

I think I will return the favour.
I don't know why people keep calling it a scam. They came through with their FPGA's, so it's hardly a fly-by-night organisation - they are designing their 2nd generation mining product in the ASICs.
They just came up against a lot of issues in manufacturing a massively cheap (comparatively) product, at the cutting edge of the technology.
It may not be acceptable for them to have taken so long about filling their orders, but in this type of business, what seems like a minor issue can stop production for a long time (take the example of the UK goverment's "smart meter" for monitoring electricity usage they wanted to create for home use - it has suddenly been delayed by over a year, due to design issues, and that's just an electricity meter, ffs).
Basically, they will deliver, but it will take a while. At least while they aren't delivering, the difficulty isn't going through the roof, so people still mining on GPUs are still profiting.
Anyway, off to find that ignore button....

+1 The bottom line in investing money into anything... DONT INVEST MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE. period. And if anyone thinks/thought BFL ASIC's weren't an investment, then you have no business being involved and don't deserve an audience when you cry foul about the delivery date.

Difficulty has more than quadrupled this year alone. The network is now the world's first exascale platform.
It's through the stratosphere, never mind the roof.
That BTC prices have kept up by enough to make GPU mining still viable is simply pure luck - and it cannot last forever.
Also, insisting 'they will deliver' is entirely besides the point (and unfalsifiable - you could say the same thing next year too).
Point is: BFL has already failed. And the way they're behaving is about as reassuring as a promise from a crack addict.

The next gen will make ALL current ASICs not worth using. It is due within 2 years at most, likely within 18 months, possibly within a year.
