Guess I'm one of the lucky ones -- I never actually bought their stuff, though I strongly considered it! The company just didn't pass the smell test imho. If you've got a product ready to go, there's no need to engage in this pre-order crap. If you've got a solid business plan to build a product, getting real investment money is easy enough.

What I didn't want is to become an investor without knowing it.

BFL is a big scam even if they shipped.

If you ask me Selling Block Eruptors for 300 bucks make out to be a bigger scam.  They are basically FPGAs only tinier.  what i don't get the most is why some people here show what appears to be a true hatred towards BFL which is crazy.  Don't like it, don't buy one!  There are like a million other people who can "DIY groupbuy your Avalon chips and assmemble your boards together into kits" but I don't want to deal with all that.  Do they do things sloppy? "yes"  do they try hard to deliver the best looking "most turnkey" product?  "yes"  Sure there's KNC, there's Terrahash, but I only see rendered drawings,  I've seen multiple photos of all the different types of BFL units in testing and in the wild and on ebay and on bitmit.net  but they were NOT preorders.  They had maybe a 180% cost premium or higher over stock price.  Only other ASIC hardware on the market is...yep you said it...block eruptors, fpgas which cost like 10x for the same hashpower and blades which are like 10k for a mere 10gh/s so no...(and of course Avalons that are known to be inferior watt for watt and will easily set you back 20k [something the 75% don't have or aren't willing to risk for the BTC economy])

Stop complaining...find or better yet...build a better ASIC, deliver the units....then start bashing BFL after you can DELIVER where they couldn't....

yea that's right you CAN'T.

for the record...all groupbuys are just baby bfls: preorder with escrow, ppl waiting on chips and assembly of boards with chips, ppl waiting for enough buyers in the groupbuy to acquire the chips...all the bfl bottlenecks that preorders face.

Now I do question if this will be such a lost cause that I get my unit for 4 months and they try to "hook" me into a 2.0 asic 500TH miner for 3k and 50PH for 15k preorder AGAIN to disrupt difficulty to make the current asic obsolete.

Good Job BFL I've switched sides, Lets all look at the latest bullshit fresh from the presses

You send the payment not to office@butterflylabs.com but to support@butterflylabs.com which is not an address where we accept payments.

PayPal should reverse your payment and it is now between you and PayPal. We have not received any funds from you.

You order 100040547 cannot be funded now. It was placed in April and now is July. Please place another order.

My money is going elsewhere, Btc is lowish that probably makes sense right now instead of hardware.  By the way I only sent it there because my receipt for my other order had support@butterflylabs.com in paypal history.  Maybe a little empathy could have fixed this but I interpreted the words above like "You fucked UP SOL, NOT MY PROBLEM!"  But clearly, I used what would have been reasonable logic, but I'm being punished by losing my spot in line with your company.  Oh well... you guys act like there is only one company out there but obviously Avalon was acting like this back in March and now look at them... real customer oriented businesses will come around and crush you guys.

Wired magazine didnt have to wait long for ITS publicity copy...

Did they even have to pay for it?  I fucking hate that article with every ounce of energy in my heart...IDK if it reaches a "wider" audience or is considered to progress btc...."thanks for rubbing it in my faces FUCKERS"

If anything, I now totally respect the Winklevoss twins for attempting to set BTC as an allowed public brokered investment that could be traded quickly on the commercial scale.  THAT would shoot bitcoin price up to 4 digits or +$1000 plus for you ESL folks out there.

Yes if you haven't received your refund by now you can file complaint with the Federal trade commission.  They will advocate for you and make sure you get your funds.

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

You can do this with any product if the business is located in the US.

Butterfly Labs shipped the Jalapeno 10 months after first orders. They're still backlogged 7 months. If you're thinking of buying a BFL Monarch, think again.

Post you BFL refund queue position here!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=248447.msg2665332#msg2665332

I asked for a refund and was refused here is a copy of the email for your amusement.

I am going to challenge paypal even though it has passed the 45 days because according to their terms you can not take money for products that they do not have to sell.

So I will see what happens - not holding my breath though

I am in the UK

Thank you for contacting Butterfly Labs.  According to the terms you agreed to on checkout, all sales are final.  Now that shipping of orders has begun, refunds will not be processed.  Your order will be shipped per your position in the order queue.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hello,

I placed my order on the 6th Arpil order number 100034910, I was aware it was a pre order item - but you did state that it would be 2 months! I can not wait any longer and I require the money due to a change in circumstances.

Therefore I would kindly request that you cancel my order and refund the money.

Many thanks

There you have it folks!

Don't worry. Bitcoin is going down in price now. BFL will start shipping as soon as the price is low enough that mining with customer hardware is no longer worth it.

They can't risk the hardware breaking while they are mining on it unless the price of Bitcoin stays high. They want it to last at least one day in customer hands. If it breaks after one day they can say it was working but you abused it. But if they ship it broken then they lose that excuse.

tl;dr
Yipeeeee you will be receiving your hardware soon!

Bought BFL chips 6/11. No samples received. No word from BFL. Josh says it's the sales departments's problem.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/bfl-forum-miscellaneous/3697-sample-chips.html

Wow, I ordered about a week after you, still nothing.  Got an email from Anthony Fast  (chips@butterflylabs.com) that they would ship in 14 days.  That was 2 weeks ago, I emailed him again.  Waiting for a reply.

I had more 100+ buys lined up but I'll not be buying more until I see samples.

buying from BFL is a bad bet at first place. but keeping up with deadlines is not what BFL is about anyway.

I see it now.  They cannot be trusted what they say.

Their "chips sales guy" said 14 days, now he does not reply to emails.

I'm not sure if they will actually deliver chips in 100 days.

I would recommend for people to stop buying chips from these guys until they send out samples.

I hope BFL is already mining with the preorders... means the diff won't go up very much when they ship and the revenue will be higher than what we've been calculating!

I am curious as I haven't purchase to date... whom if anyone would you recommend for purchasing hardware? Or would you just suggest continuing to buy Bitcoin's through a broker as the prices just seem to keep falling?

My personal opinion, for what it worth, is that today's price is the lowest you will see for a while and it's a good time to buy. Think of it this way. If you bought Bitcoins instead of preordering an ASIC when they first put them up for sale you could already have cashed out at $130 and earned more than you could ever have made mining in the same amount of time.

The only upside I can see for mining hardware is being able to "make" Bitcoins instead of jumping through the hoops to buy them. However, you are likely going to jump through hoops selling them anyway so what does it matter if you do it to buy them too.

I also have a bias against purchasing an expensive piece of hardware with only one purpose. GPUs play video games, what do BFL singles do when your government decides to make you buy an expensive money transmitter license as a miner?
