I think it is also better to start relying on the technology in sports. And that technology can perfectly detect the deflected or knocked-in if sensors are installed there. What do they think about it? Will tennis lose its charm in this way?
I believe that the errors of the line judges were an integral part of the game, as in football, and that the line judges should remain.
I'm glad to hear that Wimbledon and the French Open don't want to change anything and will keep the line judges.
I think that the hundred years long tradition should not be changed and I hope that also some other tennis tournaments will decide to keep this tradition.

It will be better for tennis because their wont be anymore mistakes with faults and those things. Only bad thing is that a lot of people will lose their jobs and that is the only bad thing. It wont lose its charm because tennis would be a lot more fair and room for error.

I am all for technology as well. Although I would say that line judges had not been a problem for a while now anyway due to the usage of the hawk eye in critical decisions. It was quite rare that a mistake was not only made, but also not corrected. It did happen when a player waived a potential challenge, but we have been very close to perfection already. But I think that the game will benefit from full technology sideline judges. There won't be any waiting anymore and to be fair it is also unrealistic to expect from a line judge to always be on point at that speed and precision.

Now I did like the challenge moment when the screen showed up. It was all about excitement and I wonder whether they are still going to display close balls on a screen or whether there will just be a sound and that's it.

speeding up the game is also nonsense, there are other areas they could target
to speed it up, take away the warm up after the coin toss for example.

We have been warned about the implications of introducing AI, its going to
replace peoples jobs, and really, do we actually need it? line judges are fairly accurate.

Will top executive ATP positions be replaced by AI, surely their decisions can be made
by machine? of course that wont happen first, its the lower levels of the ATP organisation

A line judge is far from the risks that AI might bring about in the form of ChatGPT or deep fakes.

A line judge is how it should be in tennis. You can't ask any human being to decide when it comes down to millimeters. Do we want millimeter precise hits by the players? I think so, but what is the accuracy worth when don't have a system in place that can reliably measure it? Tennis has become such a precision sport and it is exactly. what most people like, the players constantly hitting the line. But which referee in the world is able to be right? That's probably even harder than in soccer when you have to judge whether ball touched the line with just a few millimeters of its size.

So the media and news outlets are still doing this bullshit? I think this is absolutely unacceptable. It has been a very long since the Coronavirus situation and I don't think that is a threat right now. They are just trying to control the movement of people. They just want to be in control. There is no point in a player being restricted to play in a tournament just because he did not want to take the Coronavirus vaccine. Tried to look it up but can’t find any other news sources confirming this. However, the USA is still strict on the vacci ation as one of the only countries. I travel back and forthwards between the USA and Belgium and when departing from Belgium or another city in Europe to the USA, you always need to show your vaccination pass and it needs to be a booster shot.

Well, my daughter is a tennis player competing on junior tour atm and I can assure you that officiating is a disaster now! Most of the umpires and line judges are either old or blind and the best thing they can do is take the side of the player who makes the call. I realize that this technology is not coming to the junior tour anytime soon but at least at pro level we need this tech ASAP!

Meanwhile in Madrid, Mirra Andreeva has breezed past Magda Linette in straight sets 6:3, 6:3 and will be facing Sabalenka herself in the next round. The Tigress had defeated Osorio previously 6-4, 7-5 and also progressed into the Round of 16. I won't be betting but I'll also won't be surprised if the Russian teen prodigy wins! There is no getting around it, if you dont have a vaccine you are not getting into
the country so that rules out Djokovic. I cant see him at this stage getting a vaccine
in order to play the US Open but his stance on the vaccine has really disrupted his
career over the last 3 years.

I wonder if he will look back in a few years and wonder if he had done things differently
would he have clocked up many more wins, a few more GS's, a lot more prize money
and retaining the number 1 slot for longer?

It's no longer hot news to debate also what he will receive for not being vaccinated, nor is this the first major tournament that will keep him out of action, and pretty sure there will be no more drama like the 2022 Australian Open, and Djokovic already understands his decision not to be vaccinated and that is not because of his irresponsible attitude because everyone has the right to decide what is best for him.

Davidovich Fokina beat Rune in 3 sets. It was a close game and I am delighted for
Fokina. Rune is a controversial player, there was drama again during this match.

continued to be on Rune's case throughout the match.

He has conceded a couple of break points to Shevchenko, and he was also losing 4-2 (with Shevchenko serving ! ) but in the end he was able to win the third set for 7-5. Nice match, both players have played at high level, for sure Shevchenko has played at a great level today and was able to put the Russian player in trouble in many occasions.
Really disappointing the audience in my opinion. On several occasions in the first set they "booed" the Russian player...

Followed this match between Medvedev and Shevchenko while it was 1-5 in the first set. And some how he brought it all the back to 4-5 but lost.
Then the second set was all Daniil taking it convincingly. The third and final set was very rocky for the Russian as he went down 4-2 but took it 5-7.
So that makes it 8-0 for Medvedev when it comes to deciding sets to win the match so far this tennis season.
Remember he dropped 4 in a row last year when it took three sets to close it. This is a very bad record to hold of the 2022 season going 8-11.
