Former World No.1 tennis player Andy Murray have confirmed his participation in Monte-Carlo Masters through his social media post. This is his participation since 2017, after a long gap getting back to the tournament. In the past few tournaments he wasn't able to perform well, and after good practice session and spending time with family he's moving to Monaco for the Monte-Carlo Masters.

Expecting some great things from him in this tournament. After all, he is participating in this one after a very long time.
I don’t think he will be able to win the tournament. Because after all, he is already 35 years of age. Certainly not the best physical condition for any athlete.

But expect to see a decent performance from him .

in the last few matches/tournaments he has almost always lost in the first round... ok the final at the Qatar open in February but I don't think he's able to repeat such an exploit...

Nice for Murray and also nice for tennis fans that Murray has been active in the professional circuit for a while now. Last year he had some successes, but for a player of Murray stature, a year can usually only be good if tournaments are won, which used to be a few times every year. I also don't know where Murray has set the bar at the moment, it seems more like he likes to play tennis and just goes and sees how it all goes. Too bad we never saw a comeback from Tim Henman and Greg Rusedksi. Because there haven't been that many good players from England in the last 20-30 years.

Charleston WTA 500 quarterfinals today and we're getting ready for some exciting matches:

Kalinskaya v Jabeur Jabeur is determined to get back to top 10, today she'll be unstoppable.
Keys v Kasatkina Kasatkina is a clay player, more chances for her against the American.
Bencic v Alexandrova The two have met recently in Miami and Alexandrova won that one. h2h is tied 3:3 but bookies think Bencic will win. Despite this, I'm betting on the opposite.
Pegula v Badosa  Match of the day in my opinion. Badosa is back in her top form, whereas Pegula has shown hell of a tennis in previous rounds, coming back from 0:3 etc several times. My bet is on Badosa, she's good on clay.

Few of the predictions have won. Kalinskaya v Jabeur - Jabeur have won the match and reached the semifinals as the match ended during the second innings with the walkover of Kalinskaya.

Bencic vs Alexandrova - As the bookies predicted it is direct set win for Bencic 6-3 6-3

Keys vs Kasatkina - The pick have won, but this seems to be fighting in the first set and later Kasatkina won it easily 7⁷-6⁵ 4-6 2-6.

Pegula vs Badosa - Match just begun. Lets wait for the result.

The fact of the matter is that he is simply too old. However, even if he does have a very good game plan, I find it difficult to believe that he will be able to implement the plan in a successful manner. Due to his age, we all have to understand that he does have some certain restrictions that he needs to follow. Based on what I've seen and what I've heard, I believe he has a good chance of winning against players who are less skilled than him. Nevertheless, he will not be able to perform as well as he would if he was competing against players who, in general, are better and quite young in comparison to him.

If he'd be something like +10cm tall that would help greatly.

As mentioned physic really matters. Having good height gives advantage in more places and makes it easy for them to take points. As said Ruud have been into different tournaments for a long, yet he wasn't able to achieve big. He's considered among the intermediate category of players who performs well, but to convert the same to be a win seems to be little difficult.

How long would Murry continue to play tennis at this level? I never found him athletic, not even before. But now he stumbles across the track, when you see him walking it looks like he could fall down at any moment. Last year he played some great games for himself. But players he used to beat without problems are already causing the biggest problems. It is now someone who plays tennis purely for pleasure it seems. And Gijs Brouwer, who comes from the Netherlands, just made it to the semi-finals out of the blue, also a great achievement. Tournament in Houston.

Gijs Brouwer is currently playing a match against Francis Tiafoe. First set won by Tiafoe and also in the 2nd set Tiafoe is quickly ahead and it seems to be over. Tiafoe is a player that we will hear a lot from in the future, I think. We see that the clay court season has opened, but many players still have the tournament in Paris in mind. The world's top in particular is preparing to shine there. We hear very little from Nadal at the moment.

The Monte Carlo Open was immediately shocked by the quick defeat of Borna Coric, just watching the first set and the the second set for a while it was very visible how Coric experienced difficulties on this surface so Jarry won in straight sets. The match to look forward to is De Minaur vs A. Murray, De Minaur is the favorite because he is the 14th seed in this tournament but he is not a special player, so even though he is the favorite Murray will probably beat him even though in some meetings Murray has never managed to win but Murray has often impressed in the early rounds of tournaments.

Same as Ons Jabeur Bencic had a good experience in this tournament. Bencic played awesome from the beginning, she had an easy winning in the quarter final match against Alexandrova. In all other matches she played fighting against the players and in the semifinals she had a tough match against Pegula. Anyhow Charleston have come to an end with the title win for Ons Jabeur. For now we can't be sure about the Monte Carlo favourites, as the round of 64 have just begun and more to go. Also tennis being highly unpredictable makes it hard to predict the title winner.

I have stopped expecting things from Čorić years ago. He was supposed to be our next big thing, a solid top 10 player, and he's basically done nothing in his 7 or 8 professional years.
He did win in Cincinatti last year - which is a big achievement, don't get me wrong. But it's his only meaningful one - and he failed to build on it as well.

An average player with below average results. He's lucky to be in the top 20.

It is my theory that Murray's tennis since he had the hip replacement is based
on skill, whats lacking is the higher levels of mobility and speed, that is what is
his weakness. Also throw into the mix is his age.

He have been considered among the top line of tennis players. If he continues to play he's gonna destroy his name that's been earned through hardwork. He's at his best and announcing his retirement is the right choice. Today's loss is really bad and he had earned enough to spend good with his family. Right now young players are dominant and to play against them and to take their positions or give competence with this form is really impossible.

I will be honest here and say that I still think it takes a great deal of work to get into the top 20 of the list.

However, at the same time, I think it will not be too much to ask for more from someone who is in the top 20 if they can produce a better performance. And I also absolutely agree that as a player who is in the top 20, his achievements should look a little better compared to what it is right now. I am not sure if I agree with the statement that he is an average player. There is no doubt that his performance has been below average, however.
