Alcaraz is secretly back in the final of the tournament in Rio De Janairo. Especially in the last set (6-0) he made mincemeat of his opponent, the qualifier Nicolas Jarry. Britain's Cameron Norrie awaits in the final, against whom he also played in the final last week in Buenos Aires. I think another win for ALcaraz, but Norrie is also in the top 15 in the world from memory so it won't be a walk over. At the moment a perfect comeback from Alcaraz after his injury last year.
Finally it was a win for Cameron Norrie in the Rio Open final match. From the first set the fight have begun and Alcaraz won the set 7-5. The second one was a win for Cameron Norrie winning 6-4, once again Cameron Norrie have won the third set 7-5 after good fight. As you've mentioned this match isn't a walkover and have outlawed the prediction of Alcaraz winning the trophy.

Really a surprising result because it is Alcaraz's favorite surface, in the previous tournament Alcaraz was able to beat Norrie with a convincing score and from the results of the tournament no one thought that Norrie would be able to avenge his defeat on clay tournament, watch Alcaraz highlights seemed pretty certain to get this title because the second set he was already 3-0 up but everything changed and it was amazing comeback from Norrie, what was interesting in the third set was that Alcaraz served under arm and it was good that Norrie was able to get a point from that.

Alcaraz was 1.21 yesterday, Norrie was 4.5!

Nobody was giving Norrie a chance, I thought myself that Alcaraz was back to old form
after winning the Argentina open against Norrie.

Looks like these two are level ATM.

Did anyone have a bet on Norrie at those very healthy odds?

On the WTA side I just saw some interesting news this morning, In the Dubai Tennis
Championships Krejčíková beat Swiatek in the final, what looks to be quite easily.
4-6, 2-6. That sends a clear message that Swiatek is beatable.

Guys, did you even watch the match? Carlitos got and injury and it's really surprising he didn't withdraw (although it could be seen how painful it was). He won the first set, without any visible health issues (imo he moved a bit slower than he normally does) 7:5 but after that OMG. He was 3:0 ahead in the second and started losing literally point after point. Then he called a physio and it became clear something was troubling him. There were several moments in the match when it looked like he'd be able to turn the tide despite his injury and Norrie was a bit hesitant but still I guess Carlitos was in pain so he didn't succeed.

Anyway, we can only hope Alcaraz will be ok for the clay season and, more importantly RG.  Cool

Have you guys seen the odds for Nadal in the French Open? He is currently $3.50 and the third favourite behind Alcaraz and Novak.

That is crazy. If Nadal is healthy he wins the French Open 100%.

Let's be realistic, Nadal has been injured for a long time and has not been playing at the highest level for some time.
Even when he was playing at the highest level and fully healthy, Nadal was losing matches to Djokovic in Paris so this prediction is not wrong, Djokovic is deservedly the favorite to win that GS.
It is also no coincidence that Alcaraz has been at the top of the tennis rankings for so long and he is the obvious successor to Nadal.
A very uncertain GS awaits us in Paris and I would say that the chances of winning the tournament are equal between these three biggest favorites, with maybe a slight advantage for Nadal if he will be fully healthy and ready.

I disagree. If Nadal is healthy I think he is a HEAVY favourite to win the French Open. Nadal is 8-2 against Novak at the French Open and one of those losses was two years ago when he was in bad form and wasn't active leading up to Rolland Garros. What other player do you know that has an 8-2 record against a prime Novak? Alcaraz is a bigger threat in my opinion but I watched Zverev destroy him in Paris last year so I think Nadal could expose some of his weaknesses.

If Nadal is active and fully healthy I think he is the clear favourite to lift his 15th French Open Trophy.

I agree, Carlos was about to win that second set 6-1 or 6-2. He was dominating Norrie until his injury. At the end he wasn't even moving he was hitting dropshots and trying to shorten the rallies because of his leg. Norrie got very lucky in my opinion but he also played well.

I really did not expect Norrie to beat Alcaraz on clay. Norrie is upping his game, maybe a good dark horse to bet on in the upcoming RG?

We've got Doha next, let's see in what form will Đoković return.

We dont get to watch all the matches of all the tournaments, we are all in
different time zones!

Yes a bit surprising he didnt pull out, I read that he was having a heavy debate with
the team, im sure that was pull out or not!

A serious concern now ahead of two very important tournaments, Indian Wells and Miami.

I really did not expect Norrie to beat Alcaraz on clay. Norrie is upping his game, maybe a good dark horse to bet on in the upcoming RG?

We've got Doha next, let's see in what form will Đoković return.

Dubai next along with the Miami Open, thats where the majority of the big names are
playing.

Murray played well, but something lagged and it wasn't easy identical.
I do not think he was feeling all fit and good because he has withdrawn from the Dubai tennis championship because of his recurring hip injury. Age is not on his side and it is becoming more obvious to him every day. His management stated that it was a precautionary move to avoid the hip injury since he was already having signs of it. People who loved and were hoping to see him play in this Dubia championship will have to wait till another time maybe. I wish him full recovery and hoping that this problem does not force him to consider retirement quickly.

I really did not expect Norrie to beat Alcaraz on clay. Norrie is upping his game, maybe a good dark horse to bet on in the upcoming RG?
We've got Doha next, let's see in what form will Đoković return.

Alcaraz started well in this match. He even won the first set. But Norrie made a really cute comeback in this match. He was able to get the next two sets.

For some reason, I think Alcaraz actually underestimated Norrie. Because otherwise I really do not see how Norrie comes out as the winner of this match. But it was the final.  And in the final, both participants are equally good most of the time.  It was a surprise to me but it is what it is.

This could also be a sign that Norrie is on his way to have a great 2023. Beating Alcaraz like that when you are already down one set isn't something everyone can make happen.

This is probably his biggest win in his career so far besides the one he won in Indian Wells, but the lineup wasn't as strong there in 2021.

I wish him full recovery and hoping that this problem does not force him to consider retirement quickly.

https://www.livescore.com/en/news/murray-withdraws-from-dubai-tennis-championships-2023022711520912683/

Age definitely isn't on his side and his injury list doesn't get any shorter either...

Djokovic gave an interview and he said that one highlight who would love to be looking forward to is a final at Roland Garros against Rafael Nadal. To say the least, that would be damn exciting. But I would be concerned all the time that Nadal could be stopped by a last moment injury. I am not sure whether he will really play another final against Djokovic at a Grand Slam. Sometimes it is also the minor issues that stop him from playing like some muscular problems and that is only getting worse with age.

Djokovic seems to be in a better condition and this year will let us know whether he is ultimately going to take and extend the lead in total number of GS won.

Interestingly Norrie is also playing, which makes sense if you are already in that time
zone. As far as I can see they are both on the same side of the draw, definitely two to
watch at Mexico!

Over at Dubai Medvedev and Djokovic are playing today, odds are crap though.

At the tournament in Dubai Zverev needed 3 sets against Lehecka. We could see that he fights for every ball and bites his way through. But now he has to play against O'Connel. At the tournament in Qatar O'Connel won against Bautista and he also played very well against Medvedev. Medvedev needed 3 sets to win. I am curious to see who will win.

Not ony Zverev. Do you see how Djokovic is struggling? It is the third set and it is 6 to 5. I had a look at the odds before this game and I can tell you they were not as if Djokovic would need three sets and perhaps even a tie break in the last set. So far I have never heard about Machac to be honest, but bringing Djokovic into trouble like that isn't quite that bad. I didn't expect Djokovic to drop a set at all so early on during the tournament.

Edit: the game did end in the tie break but with a strong ending for Djokovic. Still not expected that this is going to end in a third set tie break...

Medvedev did win the last match quite convincingly.

Novak Djokovic is playing right now against Machac. He is ahead in this match. So far Novak Djokovic has 1 set won and Machac has 1 set won. The play of the last set is going on right now. It will be interesting to see who win. I am in favour of Djokovic.

Djokovic had a bit of trouble with Machac, he only won the 3rd set on a tie break!

All the usual suspects had wins at Dubai, Medvedev and Felix AA, I watched the
match between Shevchenko and 5th seet Hurkacz, he just about beat Shevchenko
in the 3rd set tie break too.

There are some interesting matches over in Mexico, I have two bets on for later,
Berrettini to beat Molcan, Paul to beat Mmoh and Norrie to beat Mannarino.

Also Alcaraz plays McDonald with 1.41 - not bad but I'm not sure about it....

Zverev soon needs some decent success. His last win is 1.5 years ago and was in Turin against Medwedev. 2021 actually was a very good year from him with 6 tournament wins and also against strong opponents. The expectations have been high for him and now but at the same time it is not an easy task to recover from the kind of injury he suffered from.

Zverev did not start very well in the match against Lehecka. But he made a good comeback. He got the next two sets. O'Connell is obviously going to be a lot harder for him to beat than Lehecka. O'Connell is actually a good player. He can pull off great performances against far better players. So my opinion is that this match is going to be 50-50.

Duke

Zverev soon needs some decent success. His last win is 1.5 years ago and was in Turin against Medwedev. 2021 actually was a very good year from him with 6 tournament wins and also against strong opponents. The expectations have been high for him and now but at the same time it is not an easy task to recover from the kind of injury he suffered from. I just saw that he snapped 7 ligaments in his ankle  Shocked I knew it was a bad one, but that's ugly.
Even in such situation he's good with his play. He have reached finals in the Madrid open and lost to Alcaraz. Reached finals in the Italian Open and lost to Tsitsipas. Reached semifinals in French Open and lost to Nadal. In the recent Qatar Open lost to Murray after hard fight. So, I'm sure he have got the ability to make a comeback amidst his bad injury on the ligament.
