Not just GSW but most of the teams now have that kind of play. I'd give it a chance though, there must be something going inside that we don't know on why they want Rudy on their roster. Decisions like this are not done without plans. I just don't like to see that big man being benched. He is still one of the best inside defenders of the league and it will be a waste if that will not be used properly.
Jazz though might be doing the vice versa, going small, it will be a challenge for the Spider.

I think it was against Dallas that he got some good games, in both rebound (offensive and defensive) and scoring wise. And not just that, I think he could be the one who has the most screens set on either Steph, Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson to hit that outside shot. So it doesn't matter who is on the floor, Looney knows his position, low or even high pick and roll.

Loyalty wins. I think Kevon Looney is receiving a much good offer on other teams better than the $25M for 3 years term by the Golden State Warriors but he remains loyal to the team who drafted him. As the article pointed out, a contract extension is somehow a good appreciation of that said player.

Then they resigned big mitch for another 4 years.  Dude is only 24 and has gotten better each year.  The backend of that deal might look like an absolute steal. 

Then parting ways with some of the older guys to make room for playing time for the younger guys.  Not a championship move but a move in the right direction.

IMO, I don't mind at all. I am happy that players who are not really known in the league were given a chance to have a better salary after being a champion.

Jazz do not have twin towers, Minnesota does. Jazz got other players, they traded away Gobert. Meaning Wolves would be a bit weird in the league compared to how others play. I know that shooting and so forth matters a lot in the league these days, but having KAT and Gobert at the same time on the floor could either make this an amazing trade, or it could make it a terrible one.

Spacing is important in the league these days, and these players would have to cover many positions, and having two bigs in the same team means that they may not be able to defend perimeter as well as they hoped they would. We are in an age of 6'7 PF's here and there in some teams.

Actually, we are witnessing for several years now that having a big man is not necessary anymore. Don't get me wrong that it's not 100% necessary but the league evolves now where everyone is now shooting outside making big man just a slight advantage for the team.

Yup, that's a good deal for him, and is retained to the defending champion team is already a blessing to him. It was said that they'll keep each of them as much as they can and hopefully they'll keep that promise and words that have been said.

Basically yes, but KAT might move to power forward position, maybe that's where they went him to be, post day and then shooting outside, sort of Dirk during his prime. They still have a good play maker in Russell, so there is no love lost for Rudy Gobert. He will be his Donovan Mitchell now, lob and alley oop for him, the play will continue with him.

Minnesota actually wants to get rid of Russell. I also think that Russell is not a good fit in Minnesota. His current contract is even more not worth to keep for Minnesota since he will become only a 4th option with the arrival of 3 time DPOY Rudy Gobert.

They still have another big man, James Wiseman, a young talented center. He just missed the remainder of last season due to injury, but is expecting to return next season.
