I think Durant is mentally no longer with the team. So even if he stays for one more season, the Nets won't be able to achieve any impressive results. At the same time, I understand the Nets management in this situation and their desire to get a star player instead of Durant. Their goal right now is to keep at least some of the team's potential as they've already invested a lot of money and effort to form this hopeless big trio.

I also think that Kevin Durant isn't having a good time with Nets now. He did whatever he could last season but they still stayed below the expectations. Irving missed many games and it was one of the factors behind this unsuccessful season. Even when he came back and they added some new players like Seth Curry and Ben Simmons it didn't change anything for them. Ben Simmons was injured though. Anyway now there are rumours linked with Irving like he is joining Lakers and Westbrook is coming to Nets. I think this can make things even worse for Nets.

I don't think anyone INCLUDING Ja would agree with that statement.  Ja is a good exciting young player but Mike was different.  Nobody beat Mike, no one.

I won't overreact on this as an MJ fan. It's a compliment to Jordan, that's how I define what he said. Every player wants to play with MJ and showcase their skills in front of him. Iverson did, Kobe did, and more. Even Magic plead for his comeback because that's how amazing he is as an opponent.

And like Chris Broussard, "I love the mentality." It's not being disrespectful but I think he is trying to make a point that he will be a better player.
What matter now is if Ja could prove what he said, he achieved being an All-Star but the road is still long for him to accomplish greater heights.

I guess that they're on it and aware of that possibility and they know how to pull it off. They won't be liking the trade if there's no benefit on them but as once part of it before.

He knows the rotation and he's got the idea how they play so it's not that much to adjust but we'll still see if the team will really take him.

Actually, they will not take Kevin Durant, there might be a chance but it needed Another half of the Golden State teams to be traded for him, and I think the Golden State Warriors will not consider losing 5 more players just to get KD because they already lost Gary Payton II, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Otto Porter Jr., and Damion Lee they can't afford to lose a lot more, but the Warriors have added Donte DiVincenzo from the Sacramento Kings, more likely they don't really need Kevin Durant at all,

The Golden State Warriors seem silent for the past few days. Heavy secret meetings and deals going on? So far the Warriors lost important players like Payton II and Porter Jr. but were quick to take on a championship experienced player, Donte DiVincenzo. The Warriors also managed to re-sign Looney. Last season the Warriors spent more than $300 million and nearly half of it came from luxury tax. This coming season, the Warriors will bleed more monetarily after some increase in yearly contracts. Does it mean they will not pursue Andrew Wiggins anymore?

GSW owner Joe Lacob was at The TK Show talking about his team. So the Warriors are still making a huge amount of money enough to sustain their super expensive roster? So the Warriors will probably extend Wiggins' contract then? Then maybe trade him if they aren't performing well before the trade deadline.

If this becomes a trend where super expensive luxury taxes are still accepted and paid by these richer cities and teams then probably another NBA rule will be made in the near future. There will be a huge disparity, especially for teams in smaller cities.   
 

I think they are trying really hard to balance those financial needs and even more gaining the best players in the process, I really think this is a hard job whoever is calculating this, I mean they already lost Damion Lee (signed with Suns) Gary Payton II (signed with Blazers) Otto Porter Jr. (signed with Raptors) Juan Toscano-Anderson (signed with Lakers) and I think with these trade they surely gained some, in actuality, it is pretty much hard to balance those players that are very good and has talent like for example Gary Payton II can sure steal a ball and make the life miserable for players that he is guarding,

I used Google for Ja because his Wiki is not that great yet but we know he had his awards at earlier point of his career.
He chose a very big shoe to fill.
It's not bad to dream high but this is very high as Mike dominated every corner of the league and even overseas. The most difficult of them all will be the Defensive player of the Year.
It's so special for a guard to receive that award and even Gary Payton visited Marcus Smart to congratulate him because it happens rarely.

I knows it's just summer league but quentin grimes on the Knicks just looks different.  Kid looks way better than even just the end of last year.  Best one on the court for 2 straight games.  Think the Knicks finally found theor sg of the future.

He’s doing it to expand his knowledge about how different parts of the game are prepared for. As long as they are playing with great chemistry, there should be no problem with keeping the big 3.

Curry, Thompson, and Green, are the foundation of the Warriors, they keep their bond together and together they won many games and championships. No need to add Durant or any star that would make the Warriors sacrifice the key players, they have to keep the core of the team while developing the younger ones.

I definitely agree, what else could the Warriors want? They had already proven that they win a championship and can get a ring without Kevin Durant's help, with their new assets and the current big three, they can still win many games and even get the championship again in the next few seasons. Also, they just have to utilize and expose Wiseman to get some more experience so that he can be their next big man in the center.

He’s looking like he may fill a need for the Warriors next year if he can stay healthy. Scary that they won it all without their best prospect. They might be an even better team next year.

James Wiseman is pretty much showing the Warriors that they had done a good job on drafting him, we can see it on he played at the Summer League.
Recently, he suffered a knee injury but that doesn't stop his dreams as he managed to give some good positive results for the team, if this kid will get all the exposure and experience he needed, he will indeed be the next center of the Warriors and Green will have a less burden and will just take a full time role being a defensive player.

The weird thing about Warriors having such a huge amount of salary, is the fact that Clippers have even bigger one. That always seemed a bit odd to me, maybe it will change soon but so far that happened. Clippers have absolutely nothing to show for it, whereas Warriors have like 4 rings so far, as many as Lebron won all his career, within span of like 6-7 years. If we are playing "who would have beaten Mike one on one" we should consider Curry at this stage. Yes, yes, I am aware that there is absolutely no possibility that Curry would stop peak time Mike, impossible, but peak Curry also shot threes at a level and range that nobody has ever seen in NBA history, that would be a big weapon. Whoevers shots fall, would win that matchup. Warriors certainly knows what they are doing.

Reports today that Ayton is close to finalizing a deal to go to the Indians Pacers. If they let Ayton go in a trade that doesn’t also involve Kevin Durant going to the Suns it is going to end up being one of the worst moves Phoenix has made in a long time. It’s crazy to see an NBA franchise acting so emotionally. I imagine that whatever happened between Ayton and management was enough that they were unwilling to even offer him a contract extension.

I really don't agree he went overboard, He was actually respectful and full of praises for Michael Jordan but Taylor Rooks literally put the words and his mouth and from what I've learnt from Ja Morant so far, he's never going to back down from any type of challenge, and that's what I think inspires and gives him the will to do more, yeah I don't think he'd he would come any close to what Michael Jordan ever was, but I sure do think he'd have decent career too. He's barely just getting started and If he's able to get a more supporting team then he should be able to get a ring too.

Man, rumors are so exhausting. Just get it done. Kyrie trade for Westbrook in Lakers has been in the news for only God knows how long. Get it done please. In my opinion the Nets and Lakers are in bad situations and this could be a win/win for both. Westbrook is not as bad people now portray him, he was just a terrible fit in LA. He's still exciting, brings fans in and recently helped the Wizards get into the playoffs with not much else other than Beal. The Nets can't do any worse than getting swept in the 1st round, have Simmons and will get pieces for KD. Make the trade deal happen.

Although I agree with your statement that Westbrook is not that technically bad but most people are expecting good from him that's why he becomes a big deal. I'm even with the idea to keep Westbrook rather than go ahead and get Kyrie. No more drama should be involved in Lakers. Believed me, if Kyrie's signing will happen in the Lakers here in the off-season, I'm sure he will create again another drama with this team.

And for let's say, even if not, I don't see Kyrie will be fit again working with LeBron James as it's not that secret why he even left in the first place from the Cavaliers and decided not to play anymore with Bron. Chances for Kyrie to change? I doubt. He is a good and talented player but his pride is really to the next level.

Kyrie is more fit for a team that doesn't have a specific main scorer. He is acting as a leader in every team in the first place.

I agree, you don't get people like aytun come through your organization all that often.  If he goes I wonder what theor plan is for the middle of the paint.  They are so close to having a championship team don't know why they'd want to rock the boat here.  SMH:/

We don't have to overreact to this kid's opinion and view. Everyone knows that if they compare themselves to Michael Jordan, that's high praise for the Legend since it means everyone wants to surpass his achievement. It's not challenging the Legend.

With that mindset of Ja Morant, I'm expecting to him show better and best plays next season. He also should work out on staying healthy all seasons. Players with great leaping ability and athleticism are sometimes more prone to injury. He should play wise while keeping safe although injuries can't be avoided.

I don't know but it seems that there is nothing negative to me with what he said.
All NBA players and fans already know that MJ is the GOAT and no one will argue with that. Maybe Ja is saying it with respect and he has this "I'll be a better player" mindset where he uses MJ as his basis meaning he will develop even more skills.

Well, Morant is still young and he is doing some spectacular things already in the league and some sees him as the future face of the NBA aside from Luka and Trae. I like his mindset TBH but his first step to be closer to MJ is to get a title and an MVP as well.

This was a great story tonight. It was good for a nice moment as well. The first time Richard Jefferson blew the whistle as an official, he made the wrong call. He signaled out of bounds off the wrong team and one of the other referees had to correct him and reverse the call. The crowd and the other coaches let him have it too. It was a funny moment. I’m sure he immediately felt like he was in over his head as a referee.
