And the sad part is they could mine more by running a more normal hash rate rather than totally crippling the network. I still think its more from malice than anything else.
I tend to disagree about the malice part. I have a feeling these farms are looking for the most profitable coins to mine. They see a low difficulty and high price on verge so they switch. They drive up the difficulty to the point it's not profitable, and then switch to another coin. I do agree they should throttle their hash rate to avoid this, and stop shooting themselves in the foot. You would think with that kind of hash power and $'s they would do a better job of analyzing the situation. The Chinese Mega Farm is a bullish long. They don't care what the price is now, so long as they accumulate as much of the VERGE technology they can. They NEED this coin badly in China. I think them jump in and mine when diff is low and then dump their coins that why price dropped?

What about the iBeLink DM384M X11 ASIC Miner that is selling for $2,000
Maybe we should count X11 out.
but the point is that if one algo starts pulling all our work, like scrypt, the other algos can fight back, so even if we have a farm on x11 and one on scrypt, at least its not one farm getting it all I see your point, it doesn't matter what algo. #Blackhole Tech - Verge is the only truly untraceable crypto-currency. Among other features #MineVerge Tech - Makes Verge the most decentralized crypto-currency in the entire crypto-currencies world. I think it's important to go for popular algos (here you have most of them http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency) and as many as possible. I would suggest Scrypt-N, Scrypt, X11, Keccak, NeoScrypt, CryptoNight, Lyra2REv2, Prime Constellations (RieCoin), Primechain (Primecoin) and Blake-256. All those algos have strong supporters. Multi-algo feature cannot be underestimated it's yet another great feature! What's the best algo for GPU mining these days? This list looks cool Scrypt-N, Scrypt, X11, Keccak, NeoScrypt, CryptoNight, Lyra2REv2, Prime Constellations (RieCoin), Primechain (Primecoin) and Blake-256. I'm not sure which is the best but for GPU NeoScrypt is good. You have CPU only mining with the likes of Prime Constellations and Primechain. Very nice to see Verge going Multi-Algo. i agree, im going to add prime to the list, as well as keccak That's great. If Verge had to go for only one prime I think Prime Constellations as it's something actually more meaningful and would be more interesting although Primechain would great as well. Let us know when the entire list for the Multi-Algo is ready so we can start spreading the word on #MineVerge Tech

I voted to wait and add more options.
What is the maximum amount of Algos we can do at once?
I figure do as many as possible.
I like the idea of asic friendly and asic resistant algos all working together in harmony.
I'm no Dev, that's just my two satoshis.
Let's include as many as possible.

Out of those options I vote for keccak, x11, prime, scrypt
It's important to have algos with smaller miners and focus on gpu and cpu mining.
If I had to choose four I would go with keccak, Prime Constellations, Lyra2REv2, Blake-256.

I would vote for scrypt, x11, lyra2rev2 and blake2s
I don't think two algos with huge farms are needed. Scrypt and X11 just as Scrypt and Sha256 imo are redundant it would be nice to show small farms and individuals some love they're part of the community big farms couldnt care less for the future of the project.

You are not going to find an algo that has no huge farms. Scrypt, x11 and sha256 are asics. Any "cpu" algo is botnet. Just about all blake algo are fpga. No matter what is picked is going to have up and down sides to them. So in a nut shell all asic algo's are asic farms. All cpu algo's are botnet and all gpu algo's are huge farms. So where is the middle ground?

well, i dont have a asic farm. i just have one scrypt and one asic.
and i turn off the scrypt for summer.
Now, if someone wants to give me control over a asic farm.... im more than willing!

Miners are not a threat to Verge we all depend on them for decentralization.
