 Cool
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

my virus scan deletes xvg wallet for windows!  why so?

i don't know, time to get a new virus scanner!

no but really, probably because it has cpu-mining capability.. that would be my guess.

btw sorry i wasnt around much last night or earlier today, i pinched a nerve in my back last night.. it's getting a bit easier to walk now though. should be back to normal in a day or two.

right now i'm testing some of the new updates to our codebase that myself and others made this week, and they look great! the splash screen only shows for a sec and then wallet opens immediately, instead of a lag..

the chat window now has proper spacing and help commands, and its not seperating words with .'s anymore.

after the multi algo switch, things should be alot smoother! really excited..

newest updates can be seen here:

https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/commits/master

Damn that sucks Dev, pinched nerves are no bueno. Look into getting an inversion table. Stretching helps. Hope you feel better soon brother!

------

Thinking about this switch, lets not lock into stone our algos. If we think one is underperforming and not pulling enough network weight, should we consider swapping it out for another algo?

It looks like a few popular algos will be left out no matter what we pick.

So lets be pliant and willing to change it up if our first multi-algo recipe doesn't taste as good as it should.

I haven't voted yet. I'm going to do more due diligence and read more comments from you guys before i vote again.

Every change of algo(s) would require a hard fork, unless some major re-engineering of the multi algo codebase was implemented. Imo, that's not something you want to be pushing miners and exchanges and users into doing: hard forking on a regular basis.

Ok understood. SO let's get this right Wink

JW i respect your opinion, what do you think the best choice is?

I voted for scrypt, x11, prime, neoscrypt, groestl. Mostly because I'm a big fan of Myriadcoin and with this option people (me) could mine scrypt and merge mine myriad, and also give some exposure to myr-groestl algo (or groestl-groestl, I also like groestlcoin).

I don't think there's much difference between x11 and other x-algos. I believe they all use same algos just different order and rounds of hashing. Prime I just know that it looks for prime numbers, and I think the only GPU miner is a closed source claymore one that forces you to "donate" to him. Neoscrypt seems like a pretty good option for GPU.

Honestly, it's a tough decision, but I think as long as you stick with relatively popular algos (that have well developed and ideally open source miners) then you can't go too far astray.

not sure about the rrest of your thoughts..  but if x11 is similar to x15 etc... wouldnt we just go x17 or whatevers the highest?

and gpu   isnt that Blake?    unless i missed a change there..which is possible.
if that happened, i would jump off blake and go...  nscypt or ..again only cuz i have done it.

scrypt, x11, quark, neoscrypt, groestl

scrypt, x11, lyra2re2, neoscrypt, groestl

scrypt, x11, blake2s, neoscrypt, groestl

Just in case anyone objects to prime, for the reasons jwinterm mentions (I tend to agree...)

Myriad: the ORIGINAL and fairest distribution 5 algo coin, which I did not develop.

i actually completely agree with removing prime as an option. looks like theres a basic gpu version but a paid for version that is far more optimized. i dont think thats fair to the community.

i added a new option and reset votes.

 Cool

I don't like quark centralized big farms located in China. I'm going to start sharing some of the dirty stuff I figured out is taking place in Chinese exchanges and mining soon. Avoid Quark!

What Prime? Constellation or Cunningham chain your talking about? I tend to agree Constellation is the most meaningful algo in listed.

Too many options and it keeps getting reset.

If you are going to leave your BTC on an exchange please send it to this address instead 1GH3ub3UUHbU5qDJW5u3E9jZ96ZEmzaXtG, I will at least use the money better than someone who steals it from the exchange. Thanks Wink
