Science is the new religion on the block. It's has only been around in any strength for about 500 years. Its failures are enormous in how the theories have changed over time. But to make it a strong religion, scientist priests have made failure of theories to be a good thing. They call it the process of discovering new truths. There aren't any new truths. The idea of religion is a similar thing. When you say religion, what do you really mean. The full definition of religion expresses all kinds of things that people usually don't think about.

Same with free will. What do you mean by free will?

People have a touch of free will that God uses to direct the course of a person's life.

People have no free will regarding their ability to do, or even think about, anything that they consider a choice that they made. Why not? No one will be tested the same way, some people die younger for example while others enjoy 40 years more of time where they might find out that god is real or not.
