Hello, The whistle on the S7's (my B2 s9 ships next week) is caused by an organ pipe effect in the air columns formed by the metal grill. It can be interrupted and largely silenced by a strip of duct tape along one edge. Experiment to find the optimal position which doesn't restrict airflow significantly. A better solution is to remove the grill completely but as these fans can remove a finger, don't do this unless the entire miner is in a sound insulated box and the front fan cannot be accidentally touched. As the S9 has the same fans and configuration as the S7 I expect this solution will work there as well. Also, I have replaced the front fans on my s7's with a delta fan described as "the beast" in some ebay ads. It has a top speed well over 5000 4pm and draws too much current (probably--who wants to risk it?) to power from the controller.)I power it using an extra pcie connector but keep the original connection to the fan connector for the speed control line and the tachometer. The miners have been perfectly happy at 98F in my garage with a little underclocking.

your methods will work. I used to try some like that. I do like the filter method I listed above. 12 filters for 4 usd and a roll of duct tape lets you do 12 s-9s for under 10 usd. the whistle stops and much less dust goes into the gear.

Yes, I suspect your method also reduces the overall noise level due to the filter in the front. I am going to try it. Jbbtc ]

2100 + shipping 1985 + shipping I have exact figures give me 1 minute seems like batch 1 got the best deal if you look at USD instead of BTC prices unless you purchased enough coins for 4 from batch 1 at 550 a coin. then got scared when kano siad the s-9s may not mine on his pool. I grabbed 2 s-9 batch 1 then held coins and got 2 batch 2 s-9's I paid 6.6 btc for my batch 2. I paid 8.1btc for my batch 1. I paid the same for the coins so I saved 1.5 btc now so far my batch one have mined .05 btc so I have a race to see if the batch two show quicker then it takes for the batch 1 to mine 1.5 coins.

Except I can't mine USD so batch 3 is the better deal. ~3.1 BTC and apparently will arrive before batch 2, which was 3.4-ish BTC. Another half BTC drop and I might consider a couple.

...Power consumption at the wall is 1.37 kW (0.99 J/GH) for the S9 with 13.82 TH/s and a total of 5.06 kW (0.096 J/GH) for the other four totaling 52.58 TH/s. Power supplies used are a mixture of the 90% and 93% efficiency DPS1200FB types, ...
Hey, this is pretty great - actual factual <0.1J/GH at the wall! That's been a long time coming, and is just about 100x the efficiency of the Avalon 1s. Hash rate per volume is around 400x since the Avalons were so spacious inside. The rest of your news isn't as great of course. The low hash rate you see on m6 and m8 - is that happening without HW errors? My initial o/c tests showed a sudden drop in hash rate around one or two notches higher than 650, but with no HW errors, no x'd chips, and generally no indication of error.

Hi again guys!
Just ordered a sample of the S9-B3, and obviously the transaction did not get confirmed in time, so my order expired. (Payment sent from Trezor wallet with highest fee possible.) Do you guys think I need to make another order? Or will Bitmain fix this tomorrow? I don't think its possible to get a transaction sent from a trezor hardware wallet confirmed within an hour..
Also just spent 2 hours signing another transaction.. guess I shouldn't mine to my trezor address!

how this (66min for a block) is even theoretically possible? It seems to go way over five sigma. does it mean that a lot of hashing power is fake a.k.a INTENTIONALLY setup to NOT find blocks? is this even possible?

According to Kano the network has been pretty much on schedule. Last block found 9min ago as of this post. However - I made my buy at 11:00a and so far just over 4hrs later no acknowledgement from Bitmain. So far in the past they have eventually confirmed payment when a delay like this happens but still... <worried> edit: the tx finally cleared and got conf from Bitmain. 6hrs after sending from my wallet and with Blockchain already having showed >12 block conf's when I had checked 4-hrs into the wait for confirmation from Bitmain on the tx, but done.

Given the recent trading activity, value spikes, etc... it makes sense for the network to be clogged a bit. We also have to consider the notion bigger farms are shutting off in preperation for the split so that their hardware can be sold for more before the split if they are thinking they will devalue more from the split. I am waiting ~6 more blocks for my pool payout which usually confirms right away.... So its everything. Check blockchain.info They have all recently been completely full blocks with a high total value transacted... This is good. This shows us that BTC is taking actually being used more and more and gaining adoption.

Surprisingly 66min is just under 3sigma if the network is running at 10min/block: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=CDF%5BExponentialDistribution%5B1%2F10%5D,+66%5D0.99864
