I did notice that the hw errors change significantly with some restarts. Anyone have an idea why? Seems like sometimes you get a good bootup and hw errors are only a few percent. Sometimes it starts up and hours later it is still 12%. Doesn't really make sense.

Yup!

When you get that leave it alone.

Not gonna have a long discussion on probability and variance and stuff here -- just starts more bickering.  Do expect the CGMiner display to be far more consistent than pool ratings -- but if you averaged out the pool reports it would give a consistent relationship to what CGMiner reports -- plus or minus some factor.

The people who give good answers like Phoenix 1969 invariably get shouted down. If you keep notes about your findings and compare them to answers given here you will figure it all out.

Cheers.

That's a real defeatest attitude lol. Just ignore the trolls. Once the companies they made purchases from start shipping, they will be off wondering how they can ever make back what they spent instead of sitting in the ONE knc thread talking about how awful knc is.

Right now I'm running steady at 660 ghs / 7% hw. If I can't find a surefire way to make that better, I'll just leave it be until the tuning software comes out. I'd like to hear from other november owners to see what kind of numbers they are getting. Hopefully it won't be lost in the mess. If the other boxes get here and produce the same results I'll be very happy.

has knc stopped selling Jupiters ?

can only find link to Neptunes

Yes.

And while we wait 6 months for the 20nm to land, the KnC mining farm is steadily increasing in hash power with 100% of the freshly made 28nm chips!

Remember - they loosley promised not to SELL any more batches until Neptune! Didn't say anything about mining themselves!

Fair play to the guys - they deserve the riches they most certainly are now amassing. They did a fantastic job with the 28nm

so KNC has 70 percent of the current miner hash rate now or some such on the bitcoin network (on forums someplace) I think they said they would mine no more then 5% of the hashrate they produced? If my memory is correct ..that is a lot of bitcoin

5% of 70% is 3.5% of the total network hash (Assuming their 70% is correct). BTC3600 per day up for grabs.

so 3.5% of 3600 is BTC126 per day

Not bad.

Help me to re-trigger my PSU!

I use a Cooler Master V1000 for my Nov. Jupiter. It runs good for the last 2 days but now it did not run any more. May be my PSU was overloaded.

Can anyone help me to re-power the PSU?
Here is the link of my PSU: http://www.coolermaster.com/product/Detail/powersupply/v-series-psu/v1000.html

Thanks!

Buy a bigger supply.

On some boot-ups I would expect that supply to simply quit due to thermal overload or even fry.

Get a 1200 Watt Gold Plus (If you can) supply.

Take the Spec for your V1000 and make sure you pay attention to the 12 Volt description.

Pull the line plug -- wait 10 minutes or so -- but expect it to shut off again very shortly.

It's probably too young to smart smoking -- but you never know! Wink

If you are replying to someone -- do use the quote button/feature and strip out some of the text if it is a long post -- leave in the most relevant part. Bold or italicize any critical parts you are replying to an people can pick up immediately.

Then people can follow the thread of discussion.

So, if I have the first Neptune customer pre-order, does that actually mean I'm getting the very first 20 nanometer asic ever sold to the general public?

It means you bought it.

I posted immediately after you, and have been using much larger forums for many years. Most people don't have that much issue with it. The only problem with this thread is the constant bickering.

ETA: I have to wait 6 minutes between posts, so...

No, it is an October Jupiter.

However I think you will see the same issues for most if it. Somebody with a November should post an error rate for comparison -- how would you find it in this mess?

Phoenix -- what do you have?

Do you have a a Line Regulating UPS as well? On my Jupiter a BR1500G works plus Coolermaster V1000 PSU. It's too light for your machine.

Try these guys --
http://www.upsforless.ca/

The also have an American site.

You need a heavy duty supply running in mid range and a line regulating UPS to get minimum errors -- I tested all this.

Haven't checked ASICS lately -- at back the run about 53 Deg plus -- closer to 60 Deg at the end away from the case fans -- they get warmer air.

I pay more attention to the CGMiner hash rate and whether cores are dropping in and out -- I only have one bad one.

I've got 1300 w gold 80 power supplies and a 600 amp 3 phase service. I got the power Smiley  Actually, I could do something silly like host 20 Neptunes when they come out. I'm even wired for it.

Right.  So OP's comment, while technically correct, was completely misleading.  His pool had a lucky string of days.  He will not make that day in/day out.

It certainly seems like some of you say intentionally misleading/inflammatory shit, in the hopes someone will call you out on it.  Then we get to have a multi-page, retarded debate on semantics.   Roll Eyes

Well for me, I'm just sharing how things have been going.. never intended to imply it will remain that way.

Unless of course, myself or whomever, adds hashing power at every difficulty hop.

In fairness to vesperwillow, my November Jupiter, hashing at 660GHs had been averaging 0.5 BTC a day since it arrived last week. The last 24 hours have been a bit slower as there have been some longer running blocks, but it's still been about 0.38 on Slush's pool.

I think we were talking about October batch.

I understand that the first batch of Jupiters had to make over 70 coins to break even in BTC and that was going to be tough...  but how can you look at a Neptune and say that it will produce less than 10 coins.    My two jupiters today still create 1 coin a day (combined).      The risk is very different than it was with purchasing Jupiters when BTC was at $100.

unless you've got 2 November Jupiters pushing 700GH/s each I find it had to believe you can mine 1 BTC a day.

please explain how you're doing this if it's true.
or is it a mistake and you're calculations are incorrect.

I have less than 200gh pointed to slush right now, and I'm making .25btc/day. I have no doubt he's making 1btc/day.

I've just checked slush pool luck:

so for the last week we had 103%, so you should have slightly more btc than whatsoever profit calculator will tell you, 3% more on avg to precise. So in the last week a 200GH/s machine should have minted 0.1422 * 1.03 = 0.1464 BTC a day.

My merc made 1.008 over that period. 142GH =/- a couple of GH constant. That's actual, not calculated. On Slush.
