It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I ordered and paid for one this past Friday but it still ddoesn't show "PAID".  I'm guessing because I did it through bank transfer? How long does it take to change the status to PAID? I emailed them but still haven't received a response.

Thanks for the quick reply ASIC-K.  I delved in blindly and bought a BFL 50 GH/S and thoroughly regret it now.  Hopefully I can get my hands on one of these new Jupiters they plan on releasing soon.

I bought when the price was $125.  So your last line is correct.  I'll admit being inept.  I was too focused on bonus Jups and a miscalculated diff increase.  Which I sort of blame KnC for.  I feel they should have announced they were shipping 5,000 Oct machines with plans to own 70% of the network once 600m diff was hit.  I'm glad to see KnC announcing the amount of Neptunes now.  Although I think the difficulty

They did talk about roughly how many they were going to ship, and if you played with their order portal you could deduce it was 3-6,000 units. Using this, and factoring in like 50 other variables, I was able to predict the difficulty increase of KNC's machines, within a decent range: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=272768.msg3409229#msg3409229

The jump for December is going to be a little murky because KNC and some others are later than planned, but I don't believe my estimates are going to be too off the farm once the hardware is online.

Which is why I never jumped on a Neptune.

So have there been any indication of the Nov shipping being completed? Have resellers got their bonus units?

Some news from Slush Pool that might interest folks with Kncminers

"In order to celebrate the 3rd birthday of Slush's Pool, all rewards mined on 18th December 2013 (UTC time) will be paid out with a 0% fee to the miners. Good luck!"

I don't know their normal fee, but this is sad. We are talking about 1-3% so from what a Jupiter mines in one day it will be around 3-7$. They should have one week or so. One day is just sad.

sad is getting excited about it. unless you have like 2 dozen jups

I was thinking the same thing.. and even then, you're still raking them leaves and filling big bags.

They didn't say anything more on when they would sell Jupiters if they even will? Maybe boil it down to which week? I have a feeling they are going to be just like the modules. Very high priced and triple inflated shipping. UPS told me what I paid for my module shipping charges I could have shipped 3 Jupiters around the world.

I don't think anyone has info on this bit, but folks are curious.  Looks like hardware is a bit of a wasteland right now...  Also looking at the next prospective diff jump - good luck to anyone risking it out with a Neptune for H1/2014.

Would rather more reasonable hardware sooner, but hey, I'm just a customer with a combined pocket full of cash waiting to hand it to someone for a device that ships soon and isn't a money pit.  Seems like there is just a lack of shipping vendors to feed this hardware-hungry community.

I'm curious how you guys are calculating profits from the Neptune? I was looking at numbers at http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/. With the neptune costing 13k and you get it in march break-even point is infinity.

With the huge number of miners being sold from the different companies I must be missing something. To reach profits on mining with the new computers bitcoins need to reach new heights but even then buying bitcoins today would be more profitable. Most of you buying miners know more about bitcoins than me and many are smarter, so what is it I'm not seeing?

The problem is that there are enough people dumb (pardon my french) enough to buy the rigs even for a high risk maximum zero sum game. without the correction of the btc/usd rate everyone here except a selected few would've been balls deep in trying to break even...
I for one will wait for end of January and watch the pricedrops on ebay before buying new rigs off it, and even then it will probably be zero sum. What's the point of buying new hardware when you can get them on ebay without raising the diff to the sky...

You are not seeing the greed that blinds. Many here still think KNC won't fuck them over a second/third time regarding delivery and that the diff increase won't be that harsh until then. There is also the point of having fun with the rigs, some people like to watch them generate wealth, me included Tongue

The problem is not that mining is not profitable but that mining rig corporations are greedy as hell and want to get more than their fair share off the profit pie
