By the time you get a Neptune it will hash 0.4 BTC a day or LESS.

Does anyone own a calculator?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I guess the part that upsets me is honest players like Bitmain who come into the space and offer deals at a hardware price that is reasonable, offer prices on a declining scale that is only slightly outpaced by the amount of BTC the machines mine (generally) in the same time period, and STILL there are all these ASIC companies that can't figure out how to correctly price their miners.

News flash KNC:  You are no longer the top dog.  You are two steps away from being the next BFL, and I'll be really upset if anyone buys Batch 3 before Batch 1 ships, and quite frankly, the price still isn't right, lest you plan on Batch 3 getting out in May, which ain't happening, obviously, then its no deal.  Glad I have a handful of S1's and an S2 now to keep me in the game.  At least I'll conceivably get ROI!

KNC has demonstrated from their actions that they have no interest in selling hardware to miners anymore.

They already got all the money they needed from miners to design their chips and build their massive private farm.

Move along folks, there is nothing to see here.

Please don't be a fool and pre-order hardware from them with no defined delivery date and a no refund policy. That is nothing more than an interest free loan that they can keep as long as they wish.

Has anyone bought more than 2 upgrade boards and did knc insist on sending each board individually (like last November) and charging you $70 per board shipping fee?  Cheesy

Now that it looks like the boards cost $200 (or less) each, knc sure did burn people during last years fire sale.

Yup.. hell we know the Jupes had an estimated inventory cost of less than a grand.. this fits perfectly.

Ahh well, just thought it'd be nice to toss another one in there. Going back to my once every couple month check of this thread.. lol

Just got the news update in my inbox. I see they're doing upgrade modules finally. It specifies November batch. Does this mean they won't work in October batch systems?

I believe my Mercury is an October, but I'm not sure. Any easy way to tell? It's been on a shelf mining non stop since November.

Thanks guys.
Mercury was only offered initially, and quickly discontinued leaving just Saturn and Jupiter.  So I believe October Mercurys are the only kind.  November Jupiters came next.  There wasn't a November Mercury (was there a November Saturn?  I don't remember it.).

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.

That's true, but the boards could be either. Dead giveaway if they did have Oct boards though. That would definitely be from a rig that's been mining for them since the start.

They are insulting our intelligence with this stuff. We paid their upfront costs, they got their farm rigs at cost price and now they even want us to give them that money back by buying their old boards. Amazing deal for them if they get away with it. They get profits from sales with no risk, profits from mining with no hardware costs at all..so apart from power it's all profit. Actually...thinking how much hosting cost, that probably paid the power bills too. Damn.

The last news update was the final nail in the coffin. Looks like someone will be moving up 6 Neptunes in the queue.  Smiley

yeah you use (the admitedly sour genesis block calculator...but i use if for a couple months only works well in that useage imho)

https://tradeblock.com/mining/

you pop 3TH in there at 10,181.80 and it is very very ugly even at 500usd per btc

2100 watts...a batch 3 neptune at 1/2 price likely to pop 3wks at best after the 1st batch run is done of another 2500 units

yeah i'd punt (wait..i did that 2 weeks ago never mind)

THEN AGAIN don't be me!!!!!

I dumped from an original order Neptune 3th CA version to a Titan....(duh1)

I thinks maybe i screwed up..(everyone pile on here now)....

so sure I got out of the Neptune correctly ...but went to Titan so not sure it counts as a true refund

anyway ...to those of you who refunded and are no "Neptune Less" I salute you!!!!

will take my lame Titan no refund idiot purchase and will now sit alone in the corner of bitcoin talk an sob myself to sleep

Searing

Hey,

I do not understand the discussion in here. Very soon, ASICs are history and replaced with GPUs and FPGAs. So where is the big deal ?

Conan

er that will only work imho if ZEROCOIN comes out as a truly anonymous coin ....er ie untraceable ...and it comes out...wait for it
as SHA-256...

Zerocon saying something like May 15th 2014 no premine....at 0 diff and 12am midnight start your engines and we be off

well if sha 246 coin yet (doubtful will likely be scrypt)

THEN you would see fpga/gpu etc falling on to that network big time....i'd kick my jupiter there at that point in time too (what the heck
by may 15th for bitcoin my knc jupiter is a door stop anyway

so yeah....that could put a kick in the pants to your old GPU setup scrypt or sha-256.....liven things up mining imho

Searing

Why on earth would anyone wait half a year to preorder these and get them by the time they are useless when you can order chinese ones that are available now and just as fast for around the same price.  And since you get them now they are actually a significantly better deal.

I take your point....but people (even if late) are dumping knc neptunes now as their "hedge" on diff rising or coin price ...so they are golden

yep thus the refund (and the orders were oct 29th...not like antminers were on the horizon yet) buy yeah too many people have punted KNC product

their neptune batch 3 and upgrade modules and Titan scrypt miners are ALL NO REFUND NOW

knc ...(the new BFL)  (I need to make posters)

And to think for a moment they would make modules for both the october and november units. Looks like I have an october unit. I remember there being talk of mixing them, but don't recall how that went.

They could have sold Oct boards at any time from Oct to Feb, people were begging. They didn't because they had none, they didn't produce anymore than the limited upgrade batch even. There's only one logical place these boards are coming from. Their own farm. Quite a large farm since Oct. it seems.

someone said someplace they have a 90 day warrenty is that not what is done for 'used' equip ie *refurbished*?

need some clarification on this but can't remember where i read it on forums

there is no DOWN SIDE to knc offering mini-neptunes and 3rd batch neptunes at these prices..they don't sell they go to the farm..they sell at a premium it is all good too....covered both ways

Just paid KNC $350 to ship my two hosted Jupiters that are completing the 6 month hosting contract.  Was a good run.  Ordered my two power supplies and go from there.  My last Neptune (4rth) refund is still pending wire transfer and that's that.   Out of KNC business.

We would like to inform you that you have made it in to the queue of 400 Jupiter 3TH miners. Production is currently ongoing and we expect to begin shipping the miners out from Tuesday 22nd April. All miners are expected to be shipped out before the end of that week.

We would also like to remind you that each Jupiter 3TH miner will require either 3 x 1200W power supplies or 6 x 650W power supplies with 80+ certification and a total of 18 PCI-E power cables.

Regards

KnC Miner Team.

Same here. KnC did not offer the option to extend the hosting for the October contracts therefore shipping them home.
And I just refunded my Neptune because KNC will not offer hosting options for the Netptune and 3 power supplies lying around 24x7 is not an option for me.

Time to move on from KnC .. was a good and profitable partnership while it lasted.

so you paid how much for how hash for how last?

can't any of the 400 get double their bitcoin back with refund?   Are there THAT many people who rather keep their funds and activities out of banker/transfers eyes and thus would even take 1Gh in return rather than expose themselves?
