Well ...interesting....GOLD is down..due to use in manufacturing will slip....stocks are down..bitcoin/crypto is down...so this whole

BTC/Crypto use for 'bad times' is coming to pass...too bad, IMHO, BTC/Crypto is being dumped first, because of ease of use.

Especially in that, you don't want to take the time to sell your stocks..or gold or whatever ...but 'damn' i can liquidate BTC/Crypto

'fast' to fill my 'empty emergency fund' in case of layoffs because my company can't get China Widgets.

So BTC/Crypto is indeed fulfilling its catastrophic and/or emergency use...I just wish it was not so frigging likely for folk

to 'prudently' dump such first, because of ease of liquidation. Sad Shoulda saw this coming in 20/20 hindsight. Sad

In other news, watch out: Latest Mozilla update wants to route your DNS queries through cloudflare. Which since it's an internet provider means the Govt will be able to see all of your queries without a warrant.

(Run your own DNS servers ffs)

wonderful. ive donated to them numerous times.

Use it people. And yes, they accept bitcoin and zero KYC.

+1
I've been with them last 10 months, nice service IMO. good speeds, great privacy, plenty of hosts to choose from. $80 VALUE paid in BTC per year. 5 devices, monthly updates.  Although I can't compare with many others, this is my first paid experience.

That is what happens in recessions. Everything loses value. Difference is that some asset recovers faster then others. But officially we will wait many months for a recession.  So do get used to of what happened the last week, because we will see a lot of it in the upcoming year.

Recession is/was/will be inevitable. It should happen 2 years ago or will happen 2 years from now if not now. We should just accept it. And no matter how low Bitcoin price will go it is and already was good for Bitcoin. When people learned about Bitcoin in 2012 and 2013 and 2014 and 2015 and ..  there was no recession, but they were thinking back then. If I would have all my wealth in Bitcoin in 2008 it would be totally different.  So will people think a year and two and 10 years after this recession. Just that now they will have real examples.

Good point.

Quote
Bitcoin has been UNCORRELATED to other asset classes.

If stocks drop, this does not mean Bitcoin has to pump. If gold prices climb, this does not mean Bitcoin will rise with it everytime.

Not negative or positive. UNcorrelated.

Narratives will come & go.

Source: https://twitter.com/VentureCoinist/status/1232671637130088449

Totally agree with the above tweet.
Digital gold, or “anti-fragile” asset class are still narrative, not corroborated by numbers.

Positive fact:
We are still early in the adoption cycle: staking sats is still a good idea!

Fun fact.
If digital gold narrative gets traction, actually the correlation with gold would be negative. If bitcoin would prove a reliable store of value, then price of gold would drop to the “intrinsic” or industrial value, being the price stripped of the financial value. I suspect this would also happen also to other asset classes (like real estate, I guess)

Why can’t the first entry be bigger sized? Then afterwards DCA.... but a bigger buy gives some kind of commitment imo, a solid base to start working up on...

Of course, adjust this to your needs and abilities. I am all in favor of bigger buys, and commitment to BTC is good. I am not an expert, just my observations. Gysur mentioned newbs, so my wall o' text was geared to beginners. If newbs can make a larger first entry, so much the better!

Any big buy could subject you to anxiety (I LOST XXXX PESOS/DOLLARS/EUROS! OMG!). DCA encourages you to be calm. It goes up? Buy your regular amount. It goes down? Buy your regular amount. DCA teaches you patience, and is best experienced over some larger period of time.

I wonder how much lower it is, taking into account some people won't go see the doctor at all.

Typically me, I usually beat any illness with a good night of sleep/some shivers under a blanket.

You're shivering needlessly.  Your body is trying to warm you up to aid it in fighting the illness which is why you are shivering.  Instead of suffering like that, you could just get in a nice warm bath/shower.  It stops your body from shivering, relaxes your body (and mind), likely reduces any congestion you may be feeling and allows you to then curl up under the blankets and sleep like a baby.  Just don't let your temp go above 40.5°C (105°F) instantaneously or over 39.4 °C (103°F) for a longer than 48 hours.  Also it's best to have help getting in and out of the tub/shower as you may be dizzy.

N.B. I am not a doctor but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last week.

Hm. I never thought of that. Thanks!

Wonder when the helicopters of money will start being dropped. My guess is it will only be on Red states, just prolonging the agony.

Plot that data on a graph with the x-axis going from 0 to 100% and you won't feel as much panic.

PSA Fun Fact:

'Shorting' is not the same as 'dumping'.

Shorting is when someone smarter than you is actually buying your coins that you just panic sold at a loss, because you have a spine of jelly.

This is why you are not wealthy.  Cheesy

Helicopter money is on the way in China. 10,000 yuan for poor people is a years wage. A whole family infected wipes of the loan, no worries.
Who can resist, just saying i may have it is worth a months wage.  How many will be fortunate enough to be sick. Treatment also available what can go wrong?

Intriguing. I always pictured being a DNS server would require industrial grade infrastructure. Do you run a DNS server?

I keep an 8 inch floppy disk at my desk, beside my 5 pound IBM Model M keyboard. Winderrs keys are for losers! The Model M is a daily driver, the 8 inch floppy is just a momento.

I used to love the heavy click in the keys of an IBM 5250 terminal. These days, I'm happiest with a MacBook Pro keyboard. Go figure.

I do still have an old IBM keyboard with the heavy click and the DIN connector lying about somewheres.

One of my secondary DNS servers for >100 zones + backup resolver for ~80 nodes, doing 2 queries/s over 24h avg runs on an embedded 486-class embedded system with no complaints since years.

For home or SoHo, an old embedded system that can run Linux w/ at least 64MB RAM will do just fine.

Pair of them. Oddly enough I ran them on a Sun 386i back in the 1990's, think 25mhz 386 CPUs.

BIND is a bit of a pain to configure, but not really that bad once you start working on it.

Meantime it's fun to watch the stock markets implode. I wonder if Europe will do better/recover quicker as they are somewhat more intelligent than the current US leadership.

1,000 point stock market drop is a yawn when you have been HODLing bitcoin. Still I wonder when companies will start firing workers en masse.
