Let's just call it for what it is. Cold feet when the going gets a little tough.
I think this being a "little tough" is an understatement. I think steamboat will pull through with something fair but the situation is pretty 5h1tty as it stands.

It seems to me that a couple of people, alfabitcoin and boxman90, who are for whatever reason not personally satisfied (and will never be) personally satisfied, have decided upon themselves to take over this thread and turn it into a complete bitchfest about anything and everything.

If there is no communication to their liking, they bitch about it.

If there is no e-mail from Steamboat, they bitch about it.

If they're some e-mail from Steamboat, they bitch about it.

If there is some sort of small error with the board on some other thread, they bitch about it.

If the difficulty increases and they see their ROI threatened, they bitch about it.

Let's just call it for what it is. Cold feet when the going gets a little tough. Plain old whining.

Let's have a little more whining please, because that will make everything better, will help you get refunds, and it will make the boards hash better. Maybe Steamboat will come on here, and give you a little hug, so you'll feel better.

Hey, if you would have raised some valid points against our concerns, we could've had a nice discussion. But no, all you do, is bitch about it.

You should also know that there is no fully populated klondike board hashing. Seems to be firmware problems but could be anything at this point. BKK have a pause and work on his house. Others are trying to fix it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.msg3066801#msg3066801

edit
Terrahash has klondike 16 hashing at good speed but high HW errors and they did some changes on hw and software to acchive this. Current bkk firmaware seem to have problems with fully populated board.

At least Steamboat could update us on how klondike is preforming. He sent samples from all the batches (180 chips) to devs? And we are still in the dark. He stopped to communicate individually here in the thread. Only update us biweekly with one big post and miss to address many other questions. I addmit, I'am concerned and think that is not profesional. Further he does not have any terms published on his site (L.S.D.inc), no warranty on pcb and parts, absolutely nothing.Electronic pcb test should be free if assambly only is provided but he charge it. If assambly only k16 is without firmware. IMO hes prices are pretty expensive, but we had a deadline to preorder (!) (End of June) and he is the first to offer it and we had none to compare with.
This is not a custom order as something designed specifficly to the end user and he must comply to the US laws and bitpay regulations as paymant processor.

Basicaly, he can wait until deliver. He paid first batch with his own money and then collected from GB. Batch 2 were ordered after he collected the funds and all batches what came after, he ordered and paid when half of batch were bought(although that were his choice).

I must say that I am very surprised that steamboat hasn't provided an official update considering that over the last few days at least a dozen of 10K chip orders have already been refunded.

However, I am confident that he has the situation covered and that there will be a satisfactory update shortly.

Reminder that in last update he said that refunds will be facilitated and that he was only waiting for a confirmation from Yifu allowing refunds:

Update:

Chip Refunds:
The Avalon website clearly states in their “no BS” terms of sale there are no refunds for Batch purchases. Yifu has since stated he will be making a refund form for chip purchases (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=269950.msg3030839#msg3030839).  Whether he will, when the refund option will be available, and when the refund will be processed is unknown. In the event Yifu and Bitsyncom do allow refunds, we will facilitate this process for all those willing to do so. We have tentatively drafted the following, which will be finalized and updated upon confirmation of this option from Yifu and Bitsyncom.

All those requesting a chip refund will be allowed to do so, so long as there are enough requests to fulfill an entire batch. We will not force anyone to accept a refund.

Refunds of batches will be requested from Yifu and Bitsyncom beginning with the last batch, and continue to the first so long as refund requests fill an entire batch.

Customers in a batch which has been refunded will be placed in an earlier batch according to their position in that batch’s order, and their position relative to other batches. All purchases will be kept in their original order, and the order book truncated to reflect the refunded purchases.

Once a refund request has been placed with us, and the refund request submitted to Yifu and Bitsyncom, it is final. There will be no option to receive the chips originally ordered for any reason once the process has begun.

Chip purchase refunds will be dispersed upon receipt of the refund from Yifu and Bitsyncom. We will supply any administrative paperwork necessary and do what we can to facilitate the refund, but we are not responsible for any delays outside of our control, which include delayed receipt of the refund from Yifu and Bitsyncom, and will not disperse refunds prior to receipt of the funds from Yifu and Bitsyncom.

We will post an update and send an email to everyone who has purchased chips with additional information and instructions once we have received confirmation of the refund option.

Hey guys.

I have been busy with other things and only just popped my head in to check out the status of what's going on here. Understandably, people are frustrated at what's happening. The whole Avalon scenario is a major fuck around. I'd like to stand up in Steamboat's defense, purely because as a group buy operator myself, i know how much hard work and effort is involved, not to mention financial investment. If i were in Steamboat's shoes i would be devastated ending up in this situation after putting in so much hard work to make it all happen. I hope that Steamboat and his team can find a good way out of this mess. It's not easy.

That said, i would like to here formally note my desire for a refund on my 128 chips from Batch 6 paid for here 6340cef6cf76b84eeb2db835334c6deb73c9a7c7df26ba15ebdb07d8e20198e6

Hope this works out ok for all involved.

Regards.

Still no news from steamboat.

Refund deadline tomorrow.

We're all getting screwed, probably for his profit.

That's almost the cost of the chips alone.  I'll buy your fully assembled k16 for 1.5 btc.

And if people want their chips refunded, I believe Steamboat is obligated to do so. To do otherwise would simply invite future lawsuits agains Steamboat himself, alleging that he failed to take proper steps to mitigate damages.

With about one day left for him to make inventory of those who want a refund, and no news up until now, I think steamboat is heavily neglecting his duty to mitigate our damages (well said, cardcomm). Due to his delays, I think he has now made it practically impossible to setup a refund operation on time.

I have requested a refund multiple times now, only to be sent off with a "we don't accept refunds now" message, while all other groupbuys have already finished receiving theirs.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks of this as utterly unacceptable. Those who agree with me should send me a PM, so I can make an inventory of those who are dissatisfied and ready to take action if necessary. For any action we might want to take in the future (for instance, obtaining steamboats identity through John K., if it needs to come to that), it helps to stand strong with a large group of people. Please include the amount of chips and BTC you have tied in this groupbuy, as well as your batch number. Also, include your email address so I can easily mail the entire list if need be.

I'm not saying we're taking action just yet, and i sincerly hope we don't have to, but we need to be prepared for the worst. We've seen it go south way to many times in other Bitcoin related businesses.

Wasn't the cost of the chips (16) around 1.36 btc? So that'd be more than the cost of the chips alone Wink

1.36 is indeed less than 1.5.  Hence the term almost.

and the deadline is slowly creeping closer...Ugh. I was hoping on getting a refund as I haven't invested in the Assembly and parts. I guess if SB doesn't do this I'll have to sell my chips and maybe recoup some of my BTC.

Yifu hasn't specified a deadline. All he said is that on Wednesday he will be sending chip batches to cover June orders.

SB already stated that he will be offering refunds if Yifu confirms that refunds will be available.

I don't have assembly with SB and burnin is offering refunds for assembly, 50% now or 70% if you are willing to put it towards his new Bitfury project.

The deadline is that Yifu will most likely send the batches that didn't request for a refund on Wednesday. Steamboat has to make any refund requests to Yifu before this time, and it doesnt seem he's doing so atm.

In batch 5 I have 25 chips; I've paid for assembly on 16.  I'd like a refund on the other 9.  Not sure if that is logistically possible, but that adds to the stack.
