Hi folks (apologies if im out of line posting in this thread) Been following this thread for awhile and have been considering getting in on the group buy for Batch 6- for 10 fully assembled fully tested miners. Im a bit confused. Can someone clarify if June 30 was the deadline and ive missed it? I got a couple of replies from steamboat via email saying that there was no deadline and that another batch would come online as soon as last one filled. But as yet I dont have clarification if i have missed deadline for fully assembled miners? Also can anyone share how they plan to stack multiples of these in the most efficient way? Am I right in assuming they will connect to USB hubs?
I asked about the deadline and Batch 6 a little while ago in this thread. Steamboat said: The deadline applies to batches 1-5.
Glad this is the case, since my funds for the assembly/shipping costs just came through this morning. Yes, so for anyone in batch 6 of chips. there will surely be another deadline for assembly. (if not , you will have your boards ready, awaiting assembly when the 6th batch arrives).

I, too, am a little worried that we haven't heard anything from steamboat recently?... we had been communicating through e-mail and haven't had a response in several days, and he was typically doing very well with response time. Maybe he's just enjoying the weekend? I suppose we are all entitled to a break?

I'm not a fan of the payment portal saying my bitcoins are worth $5USD less than market value. I would rather send the BTC directly like we did with chip ordering. I'm paying $100 more because of this fact and I'm reluctant to do so.
Avalon accepts payment in BTC, and I'm thinking the PCB and other component suppliers mostly do not. None of us like the dip in exchange rates, but Steamboat has USD bills to pay on a short timeline and realistically, BitPay was the best option.

Still in the dark here- go easy guys -im new to this Does this mean i can place an order now for 10 fully assembled/tested miners? Is the cost $133 for each or do I need to add the cost of chips on top of this? How do I know how many bitcoin to pay-as in what is the exchange rate? When is the expected shipping date?

So, I've missed the June 30th deadline and will more than likely not have BTC to complete my order for a few more days. Does this mean I'm out of luck? Or just delayed? I'd like to know before I complete my order.
Thanks,
-Jay

A quick update:
Saturday night I began to succumb to whatever I've been fighting the last few days. Sunday I managed to get out of bed to go to the doctor and get antibiotics for the beginning stages of bronchitis. This has not affected the timeline for unit completion, and parts sourcing has continued as both of these items are being handled by other members of the team. This has however affected my ability to address the concerns posted here and via email. Today will be catchup in answering questions and providing a more thorough update which should have been released Saturday night. Please be patient over the next 24 to 48 hours as mission critical tasks will be the priority to make sure the timeline does not go off track.

1. Pay for your chips (16 per miner). These are paid in BTC at the price in the original post the address to pay to is in the post too. Make sure you can sign a message from your sending address if the need arises. 2. Email steamboat at the address in that post. There's no need to post here that you bought x amount of chips -- just send him the email. 3. He'll email you back confirmation and give you the website to pay for the rest of the miner (everything but the chips -- this is the $133 + shipping part). When you checkout on the website it will tell you the exchange rate and you'll pay in BTC for that. Overall one complete miner will be 1.376 BTC (chips) + $133.50 (PCB/assembly) + Shipping. Total around $290 or 2.9 BTC depending on the exchange rate. Expected shipping is 10 weeks for the chips to get to steamboat and then hopefully not more than 1-2 weeks for assembly and shipping to you.

I missed this date too. I didn't have enough BTC to pay for it. Am I too late? Coinbase took forever to deposit the coins. ipxtreme

How will we know if there are faulty chips (only after assembly - and calculate hashing power?) Should we buy spare chips? What are people running them off- hubs? raspberry pi's?- any advice appreciated Is that 10-12 weeks delivery from now?

I checked the blockchain, it seems that batch #6 has already reached the half way mark, but it has not been ordered. In the past, once half the batch is sold, the order would be placed. It seems that this is not the case with batch #6. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for the update steamboat. I knew there had to be a legitimate reason for the lack of response. I was a little worried someone may have kidnapped you or something Hope you feel better soon!

I know it's none of my business, but have you actually bought into any batches yet? Or is your main goal in this thread to stir things up?

Dude's been sick with bronchitis. Is it possible he hasn't updated the Chip Count? Give the man a moment to breathe. Also, I heard recently about technical issues with ordering from Avalon. Anyone heard any new developments on that front?

I know it's none of my business, but have you actually bought into any batches yet? Or is your main goal in this thread to stir things up? Well I ordered chips on Fri (batch 6?) and am wondering this also, and I haven't received an email back. I'm assuming steamboat is just a bit behind like he said. Not too concerned at this point, but I would like to see the chips ordered soon if it has reached the usual ordering point.

Did any other chip pre-orders get their chips yet or expecting them soon? I think we'll be able to judge eta when the avalon chips start shipping. Since we have 6 chip orders I think we may be able to get a ETA from Avalon. Anyone care to contact them?

How much is involved in assembling one of these- do I need an electronics background or is it soldering?
All soldering of components is included in the "Assembly" option described in this thread's original post. The only DIY option currently offered entails attaching larger hardware to the board such as heat sink, fan, etc How will we know if there are faulty chips (only after assembly - and calculate hashing power?) Should we buy spare chips?
Once you place an order for chips, and then later receive an email prompting you to order assembly, you will have the option to include testing with your order free of charge. Though faulty chips seem unlikely, it would be prudent to buy spare chips. What are people running them off- hubs? raspberry pi's?- any advice appreciated
No one is running actual K16 boards as of yet. The design is being tested by its creator, BkkCoins. It is expected they will function as other USB ASIC devices and therefore be compatible with USB hubs, Raspberry Pi, etc. Is that 10-12 weeks delivery from now?
Delivery time would be estimated starting from the time that steamboat places the chip order with Avalon. (of course, if anyone sees any inaccuracies in the above info, please post corrections)
