...
Vega's.
:-D
Ironically these puppies make 2000 h/s mining Cryptonight.
I don't think you can get more hash per dollar currently.

Which VEGA Mike?
Vega 64?

What do people following this thread think about 1070ti,worth the money or 1080ti is still better option?

I think/hope that the best thing about the GTX 1070 Ti will be that it drives the prices on the GTX 1070 "normal" version downwards..... that and the Gamers that I know might b*tch less about Miners. :p

On the recent topic, question to you phil as well as everyone else here

As of right now . . what would be the best bang for buck ROI cards (with current prices)? 1070s?

RX 470 Sapphire mining cards when you can get them at 270 ballpark, running ETH.
1070/1080/1080ti are a very close tossup running ZEC or ZEN or LYRAv2 - and this calculation is close enough to change daily or even hourly.

The "basket of profitable mining coins" right now is a large one.

Not sure yet where the GTX 1070ti is going to fall in the list - from the specs I expect it to be a better ETH performer than the 1070 and possibly the 1080ti but a hair worse on ZEC than the 1080, abet at enough lower of a price point to make it competative.

I'm going to be putting one on preorder later today, as part of my "next card expansion" plans.

Still debating if I want to get one Vega 56 (now that the pricing is finally dropping some) to play with - I think it might have a niche in my BOINC/Moo Wrapper/D.Net/GRC effort as it should have similar keyrate to a 1080ti at a LOT lower price point but I am worried a bit about the power consumption.

I like the Zotac Mini 1070, but they're pushing the form factor quite a bit for cooling on the 1080 version and I don't even want to THINK about how hot the 1080ti version has to run.

1070 prices have been dropping for a while now - they're ALMOST back down to Febuary levels and availability has been good for a few weeks.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!
Like something I said? Donations gratefully accepted. LYLnTKvLefz9izJFUvEGQEZzSkz34b3N6U (Litecoin)

Dont think that will happen, even if the price goes down as long as mining on 1070 is profitable someone will mine on it.I just think that 1070ti will have better h/w performance

I got a really good price on the 1800x   329  which made it worth buying.

otherwise the 1700x if you are lucky can be as low as 279

The "basket of profitable mining coins" right now is a large one.

Yep.  I have recovered from the slump myself, and I am back at the profitability level that I was several months back on the decline... with the same hardware.  I am just on a different algo currently.

I have already sent out feelers to others to see if I am on the highest profitability track as far as nvidia is concerned.   Phil is doing a test on it as well, and I see good results on his 24 hour miner graphs for his test machine.

Its too bad that skien has fallen wayward.  I was literally making $400+/mo profit on the equivalent of 3x 1070.  I miss that.  And it wasn't even on a new algo or coin.

More often than not picking your algo and sticking to it, works WAAAAY better than any high speed profit switching.  Way better.  Especially not being locked to one individual coin for profit.

There are more then 1200 coins many coins to pick.

Auto switching just levels  out coin prices. So staying out of auto switching allows an odd ball coin .

I have three rigs in house and  five rigs at the array. Twenty five cards 18 1080 ‘tis and 7 1070s

My test rig for Jared is four 1080 tis and 1. 1070.

It works better then the zec rigs. But I am not a pig I don’t switch all 25 cards onto a small coin.

I get the big board Monday I will run it with a mix of 1070s and 1080 tis

one of the biggest things any miner can do;  not go "all in".  Newer miners should take note for sure.   You may not ride the razors edge of profitability, but you stand a chance of benefiting from spikes elsewhere when you are running several different algos or coins.  If everyone switched to my test algo all at once on my recommendation;  you would see good profits for like 2 hours; then everything will back off substantially.   I felt this the first time I publicly recommended skien back in the beginning of the year.

Profit switching is a double edged sword.   Once all the coins network hashrates started to climb from profit switching taking hold (yiimp release I believe; right around the time of xpool becoming zpool), the profits seemed to plateau and then I would see long spurts of un-profitability.  GEtting stuck often on high diff algos, with credits few and far between.... a few thousand switches on different miners all over, and bam.... credit/earnings way less than expected (when calculated real time).

Seeing the block value/freq of the current test, vs the block value/freq of the comparison coin;  it is producing very nicely.... I hope it holds out.   The block freq is pretty good at ~2-5 min is pretty good when the reward is ~0.002mBTC.   Skien showed promise for a week or two about a month or two ago, but it seemed to fall flat on its face once again.

NIST5 was producing nicely for the past few months, but the profit switching masses would drag it down every time it started to go green.

Looks like better suited for high end GPU mining then the 6 GPU Onda MB.

Do your Zotac Mini 1070s run hot compared to other 1070s?
I have considered buying some...but am a bit apprehensive because my  Zotac Mini 1060s need higher fan speeds to stay cool enough when compared to my EVGA 1060s.

They are a specialty card.  For tight spots.

I have 2 1080 ti minis they run hotter and louder. But will fit in a tighter spot

Good Morning,

I have a couple of questions from an old newbie. lol it's all Vosk's fault  Grin

1. I am going to be building my first 3X 1080ti mining rig. (No Risers)
2. Which model 1080ti's are reccomended? Is it worh throwing a mini in the line up?
3. I am wanting to build it on a ryzen 1700 processor and motherboard, which mobo would you use?
4. What size PSU would you install on it?

On a side note this unit will be living in the garage year round. Do you think it will be able to survive out there without climate control?
We get freezing temps a few weeks total time in the winter. My biggest concern is the summer with high 90's and 80-90% humidity.

Thank you in advance for any information you can toss my way.

Have a nice Sunday.

in regards to the AMD options, i would go 1800x since currently its only $20-40 more on ebay to buy it over a 1700.

If your into high-end AMD, my 1950x with latest tweaks to xmr stack, im hashing 1307, nearly $2 dollars a day.

One thing that interest me is the rumor about the newest AMD cpu's, some rumors already bouncing around that the new Ryzen 7 2700U is putting out 207 hash on 19 watts cpu power, just seems way to good

Also another interesting idea i recent became interested in, someone built a mining rig out of old cell phones, he bought up network locked higher end cell phone for dirt cheap or ones with cracked screens and is making more off mining with them over his RX480 mining rig... he is getting 48 hash off the old galaxy s5's

hi phil,

you recommended:
2 x EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 GAMING
1 x ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Mini

The evga cards are not blower type. Are they going to be okay heat wise?

I am guessing they would be fine on open air/no case build?

but for a build inside a case, I would need blower type cooler right?
