Phil/Citronick

Would a single EVGA Supernova 1600 G2 have enough connectors for six Vega 56's (with 8+6 PCIe connectors), as well as the 3 sata and 3 molex connectors on the Onda D1800? I'm struggling to understand the specs of the PSU. And buying additional splitters and cables gets quite annoying when those brands prevent you from using third party cables...

no you would be short     1 molex

it has 2 molex cables  you need 3

it has 4 sata cables    you need 3

it has 4x   2 headed pcie  8+6  that is 4 1080ti's

it has 5x  1 headed pcie 8 pin  that is 2 1080 ti's

so you have 1 extra pcie 8 pin

it has 2 cpu    you need 1

so you have 1 extra

and the 1x 24 pin

I may have a molex for you.

Did they change the cables it comes with? the 1600 EVGA i bought last year has double molex on both cables, so 4 molex total.

vega 56 has 8+8, at least my MSI 56 does, however, you can always connect a cheap 6 to 8 extender to the second branch of the 8+6 cable.
At least, i did just that and it works fine, no cable overheating.

phil or citronick , did you guys get involved in the BTG mess today?  Or did you avoid it till things settle?

I was at NH selling Equihash - as per earlier strategy - glad I did, saved me a few hours sleep.

The blockchain needs to synch fully for pools to start.

Public mining will be available at block height 499407

As I write this post: 498900 / 499407

Go to this US pool, https://pool.4miner.me/ -- they have put a countdown clock - block by block at landing page.

At least they had some cowsense to inform the public.

Epic fail this BTG launch of public mining.

Oh man I'm in hell. So Amazon had Vega 56's in stock with 1 day shipping and I had a bunch of 0% interest free on my store card so I snagged 4.

I have been trying to set this up ALL DAY LONG. Windows utterly refuses to see all 4 cards. Linux dies with the newest drivers and just generally does not seem to run with Vega even though I've found plenty of reports saying it does.

I'm using an MSI M5 which I have confirmed supports 8 RX 570s.. but Vega so far has been a nightmare.

From my experience:
with windows vegas are finicky and sometimes you'll have to uninstall the blockchain driver with DDU, then install it again for the card to become 'workable'.

On Linux 16.04, you need newest amdgpu-pro driver and sometimes some extra work, although i am not sure that vega's would work-did not try (580s work fine).

I have 7 old rigs with R9-390s with EVGA-1600-G2 circa 2015, and the bloody thing is still running - incredible.

These old rigs are going to be upgraded with D1800s.

The 1600-G2 has 9 ports for VGA, and 3 sata and 3 molex to support D1800 no issues.

2 x Perif (2 x molex cables) -- double and triple molex on single cable

4 x SATA (4 x Sata cables) -- double and triple sata on single cable

Perif and sata cables compatible with any of these 4+2 ports.

I have one big box of extra cables from a total of 42 x EVGAs since 2015, EVGA-1000w, 1300w, 1600w, from the 1st farm.

The 2nd farm, is mainly server PSU consisting of HP1200w, 1000w, 750w and 2400w Deltas.

73, 46, going fast now,

I have about 1k meant to buy more NEOs this week (I put 1k every week to NEO from mining proceeds).

I have an itchy feeling to use that 1k to buy hash from NH and mine the shit out of that BTG.

Should I or should I not?

i wouldn't, but i try to separate "true" mining from investment.
buying hashing power messes up with my brain setup, maybe you are better adapted to this than me.

I tell you man.... as predicted everyone lining up their rented hash to mine the shit out of that BTG.

As long as I get BTC upfront - I don't mine staying at NH and milking it.

I have seen this many times before, when FOMO sets in, people go to MRR and NH and pay huge premiums to mine that new coin.

Its gambling - they hope to acquire these coins at lower early bird diff level hoping that coin value exceeds the amount they paid to rent the hash.

Holy bazookas - NH is paying me 0.22 BTC for my 70,000 sols

you can't really get premium on bitcoingold only on nicehash, right?
you get premium on the whole equihash complex.

Since BTG went live our estimated daily profits on Nicehash are back at the peak levels of late May 2017.... We were going to switch to mine BTG directly once it went live, but if Nicehash is paying $10 per GTX 1080 Ti it's pretty hard to say no. lol
