Unfortunately coinpayments.net will be shutting down due to US regulations regarding financial transactions. The last day a transaction can be placed through their checkout solution is March 24th, so if you have anything you wish to buy from a merchant, you would be well advised to do so soon. It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the closure of CoinPayments.net. FinCEN has ruled that Bitcoin is in their purview which would make us a money transmitter. We simply do not have the resources to register with FinCEN and most of the 50 states as a MSB and comply with all of the AML/KYC laws (and no realistic way to raise the funds to do so.)
The shutdown will happen in 3 stages: 1. We will stop accepting new user registrations effective immediately. 2. We will stop processing new transactions at 11:59:59 PM EST on March 24, 2014 (transactions already in progress at that time will be completed). 3. The website will otherwise remain operational until 11:59:59 PM EST on March 31st, 2014 when it will be shut down.
........
We extend our sincerest apologies to you and everyone else who has relied on CoinPayments for over 7 months.
Until March 24th I am offering free shipping and an unadvertised 15% discount for DVC purchases at http://btcpipeshop.com/

It's fairly limited for altcoin payments with http://paysha.com/ accepting only BTC, PPC, NMC, and BEN for payment. I've used https://www.btcmerch.com/ for BTC payments in the past, and in communication with them after I switched to coinpayments they mentioned they were working on an altcoin payment solution, so it might be worth sending them an email at info@btcmerch.com and asking how they are doing with that. There is also https://www.gocoin.com/ but it only accepts BTC and LTC. Maybe DVC developers could come up with a payment solution, and use profits from other coin proceeds to buy up devcoins to bolster prices?

Question is it a money transmitter? Then needs regulation unless we can somehow show its not for profit because devcoin recieves it all not a person.. if so we might find a gray area.

I was reading about doge and I understand they want 5 billion new coins a year.. the steady inflation rate being predictable to me was alot better than flexible inflation.. and I think the new wave of thinking agrees that some inflation is needed not a hard supply limit unless your bitcoin... Anyways that was my own theory that a preditable inflation rate was key.. and I have no research to back it just common sense to me.. but I tend to get these things right when thinking about the economy.. mayne all those years in forex helps..
So I found this quote:
“As long as it’s at a steady and predictable rate, you would want that inflation rate to more or less match the growth of the global economy,” James Angel, a finance professor at Georgetown University, told Ars. “In order for a currency to survive, it’s got to be useful. One of the problems we learned with gold standard was that it’s too inflexible—it takes too long for gold miners to dig it up out of the ground. Having a nice, steady, predictable money supply is actually a good thing.”
on doges website.
Now my question is isnt devcoin way better because it offers utlility through being able to work for shares and merged mined with bitcoin? Seems to me doge technically isnt as good.

Yes hopefully it's clearer now that generation rate isn't at all the main factor in pricing. That's because replication is unlimited. Also, if we want people to read this thread until www.coinzen.org better known it would be better back in the general subforum, not 'announcements'. Don't know how/why it moved?

I do the same, although mostly coinzen now. All I meant was this thread still offers a valuable way for people to find devcoin info but seems to have been moved away from main Alts subforum where it used to be. Was just wondering why.

If you have any thoughts on devtome and don't want to write an in-depth technical discussion paper for one of the bounties, you can have your say here: http://coinzen.org/index.php/topic,438.0.htmlI was reading about doge and I understand they want 5 billion new coins a year.. the steady inflation rate being predictable to me was alot better than flexible inflation.. and I think the new wave of thinking agrees that some inflation is needed not a hard supply limit unless your bitcoin... Yah, doge isn't as real-world useful as dvc. They're proof of the power of marketing, though. Predictable inflation has its merits. Real world inflation and money supply control has more to do with making sure businesses can achieve enough cashflow to pay back their loans, but not making it so much that the holders of any money feel the need to never have any".

At the moment development is stuck because we're trying to get enough hashpower to test the client on the live network. Devcoins being merge-mined means it's very hard to mine a block. If you're a BTC miner, or you know miners you can help the cause by promoting http://blisterpool.com, which is a 0% fee p2pool node testing the new client, and it needs miners. Until the end of march it's paying a 60 DVC per GH/s per day bonus too, which is on top of any actual bitcoins mined or devcoins merge-mined.

I think its a goldmine if we use it properly.. imaginr you get your mining for free and you can use mined coins for something else that the project needs.. its simply the only coin that can do this... imagine paying people for work via mined coins.. imagine revenue generating businesses fighting over shares.. driving price up! We are on the cusp...

Still no contact from Kumula regarding the listing of ASCMDVCPT listing on cryptostocks... you can see why I am closing the listing from such poor customer service support. Please can anyone reading this or investors please PM kumula to get him to take action and transfer the listing to my account so I can pay you all missed dividends!! Fuzzybear

I haven't been here that long, so apologies in advance for any ignorance. If the writers are dumping coins short term, maybe you could come up with a system where you withhold part of the payment and if the writers hang around for a set period of time (maybe 3 months or something) then those coins get released? Or do you think that you are just moving the same problem down the road for a few months?

Yea or devtome needs competition! Say if I get around to release my site( www.devcoinauctions.com) that it will use shares to buy the items which are sold for profit.. That is a bettter chance on bringing return and specilators will jump all over buying dvc because there is now interesting realworld usage and its cool because it opens doors for many other similar ideas sharing the pie as market cap grows.

Yeah, I think your idea may work, depending on how its run. We definitely need a business plan to evaluate/refine though.
