blackcoin announced to be working on a PoS 2.0.

New PoS 2.0 System by rat4 The main man, rat4 himself, has been working hard and diligently on what we dubbed "PoS 2.0". This new proof of stake system will further solve potential attacks to vectors that other currencies are vulnerable to. We are currently working on a new privately developed blackcoin wallet. This wallet will introduced an exclusive anon and multi signature feature. Also along with that some more features that are yet to be announced but will be revolutionary.

This could be quark. Is quarks dev working/watching on new developments? The marketing team which are doing such a good job deserve a more supportive dev. We are talking about a coin with millions in market cap here, buyers expect more dev responsibility and activity.

The more the PoS blocks in ratio to PoW, the higher the probability of a successful attack. If PoW difficulty is low enough, its easy to attack both PoW and PoS.

Hey guys - I posted this on reddit, but thought I'd cross post here:

There are several proposals right now:

1. Jackpot related mining rewards - if we can get the jackpots raised then we can produce mining incentive by paying people indirectly through grotto lotto. This is a stop gap solution util our valuation is high enough (which is a LOT higher - 1000x or so).

2. Mining software that allows easy access to GPU mining on multipools that pay out in Quark and that also donate 10-20% of mining power to the Quark network. There is a practical means of implementation of this - I may have found someone to code this for us now.

3. ? Merge mined coin. Lots of issues including constant dumping, the fact that its value is tied to investment,which would be hard to obtain if all it is is a mining token for Quark.

Any comments/discussion and feedback is appreciated!

Sunny King seems to think it will work okay. PPC has not had any known issues since i've been using it.


You have rat4 saying POS only is safer than pos+pow. You have others saying the opposite.
Sunny King created it and ppc is both.

From what most devs are saying POS + POW is more secure than POW only with very low  hash.

However, can POS even work with qrk? i see probe was a mess, particle are switching to x11 pos because he probably can't code POS on to qrk, else why move to a totally new algo.

Anyway if pos can create greater security that would be nice but not worth switching away from qrk.

I see some coins even LTC have these mixing gateways popping up. Perhaps an official qrk mixing gateway could be useful again could be ROI if nobody wants to code it for free (small fee paid by users). Would have to run by someone kind of official. I've see 2 now already for LTC in the last 2 days and doge has 1 i believe.

Also integrating an optional anonymous feature in the wallet would maybe be cool too. But hybrid pos/pow and merged mining is something to look forward too.

You can't merge mine Quark with Bitcoin because they employ different hashing algorithms. Quark can only be made to merge mine with other Quark-based coins. However, there is very little benefit to merge mining with a coin with a lower network hashrate, while merge mining with a coin with a higher network hashrate would most likely elevate a competing Quark clone.

I would say quark can't be EASILY merge mined with Bitcoin. But Quark can be changed to recognize SHA256 PoW from Bitcoin blockchain and Quark PoW from its own block chain. But of course that not an easy change.
A good example is FusionCoin, a hybrid PoW coin using SHA256 and Scrypt. Both are merged mixable.

Agreed. Dev knows what he is doing and keeps qrk up to date. However you want qrk to compete against coins with devs that are super active, inventive and great with rustling up enthusiasm from the community.

quark dev needs more ambition and bring new features. The price goes up more with technical features than marketing, anonymity is a nice option i don't know as long as the devs are dedicated like some other coins and i don't see that with quarks current dev. Thats why it needs new devs who have some balls to add new things

Wouldn't you loose your "anonymity" when you buy that item and then have to enter your shipping information?? So why are these people so worried about being totally "anonymous"? Is it to hide from the NSA, FBI, IRS, and other government agencies? If that's the case, then all the government has to do is run a port scanner on your ISP and look for open ports that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies use...then they can track all transactions from there and identify the user. Am I right or wrong??

But it's easier to kill any 100% PoS coin.

Besides Quark's quick difficulty retarget makes it 51% or 52 or even 99% resilient; if you got to improve on that, you just need to change the difficulty algo to more aggressive difficulty retargets.

If a crypto has fast difficulty re-targets, it's difficulty to do a 51% attack, cause in the forked chain the difficulty will increase rapidly and will soon reach the target block times, the block time of the main chain will be the same, making a 51% attack impossible.
            
If the main chain's difficulty was high cause of the attacker's majority hashing power, it'll drop to sustain a block interval equal to the attacker's fork chain.

That's cause there're a lot more uses of cryptos apart from online shopping of physical goods.

Besides some people are privacy freaks, they don't need a reason to hide.

Ignoring all the militia wannabes, go-directly-to-jail pervos and Silk Road babies -- that topic has been discussed to hell and back -- the primary issue concerning "anonymity" in cryptocurrencies is not that a transaction leads to a person's offline identity, but that it can potentially be traced back to that person's full stash of coins. It's one thing to have $10K in your pocket while walking down an empty street, but it's a different matter altogether when everyone in the world knows that you do.

yes that is how the exchange should work i think.

However this is whales dumping the price down i see one person unloaded 250k today all in a few mins and mostly just on cryptsy.
