In my opinion Ethereum will going to steady top 2 altcoins.But not takeover Bitcoin.Ethereum has many supporters and investors nowadays but bitcoin is the father of Currency.

But I think Ethereum has the best shot at overtaking Bitcoin as the top market cap coin, Ethereum has a community with strong leadership and an aligned vision. On top of that, the Ethereum Enterprise Alliance includes some heavy hitters with a vested interest in seeing the coin succeed.

I also think that Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin as the top currency by 2018 because Ethereum is the currency of the real floor application and the technology with blockchain smart contracts is the reason it is growing fast

I don't agree with you. Bitcoin is on the top of everything and I don't think this is going to change soon. And Ethereum already have some competition, mostly NEO, but others as well.

Mostly NEO? What do you think when you say that? Do you know the Bitcoin mining community and Ethereum mining community always comparision? While, NEO is just a new project and it is nothing with Bitcoin. It can not mining, just this issue is enough to proves it is worse than ETH or BTC.

I doubt it very much, as for me it is unlikely that some kind of crypto currency will be surpassed by bitcoin. It is the world's equivalent to gold in the world crypto currency. But the Ethereum is not so, it's for sure and will not be so.

In terms of price or value, Etherium is far from overtaking Bitcoin. But in terms of earning, Etherium is more liquid due to its lower price. Bitcoins early users are the ones earning huge profit today since they got it at its lowest price. Now there is not much room to earn with Bitcoin today due to its overwhelming price. If you bought at $10k per BTC, you have to wait for it to reach $20k before doubling your investment. Now common sense will tell you, that is quite a long wait. With ETH on the other hand, price is more affordable and you can gain much more in tha same period of time as BTC.

One fact remains, BTC will always be king of all coins. A courtesy rightfully given to the one that started it all.
But ETH has a lot to offer today which is why many are into the ETH craze along with the other coins associated with it.

it is still depend on the movement of the price if bitcoin will continue dropping its price maybe it is clear that eth can overtake the bitcoin but as we know when bitcoin will comeback it will double or triple its current price so it its hard for eth to lead the crypto world when it terms of the value .

I think bitcoin will be still the number one in digital currency. In history almost always the original stays on its feet even though another one has overtaken it. Ethereum may overtake bitcoin in the future but it may be a head to head battle. But still I will support both of them always.

if bitcoin developer doesn't add a new feature of bitcoin, ethereum will be replacing bitcoin with the features that bitcoin desn't have.

I think this is an unpredictable statement. No one can predict the market price, although some say it is now the ethereum year. We know that the price comparison is very far between Bitcoin and Ethereum. But if that happens, then it's a wonderful thing.

This is a very good topic as it was raised here. I was thinking in same direction sometimes when BTC is use to delay in confirmation but when cryptokitties issues came up sometime last year on ETH blockchain, i changed that thinking. Ordinarilly, ETH is a very good one with some features i must confess, only for accomodating ERC2O token is a nice factor i always consider while comparing and contrasting both but the bottom line is BTC is the father. Just my opinion, i'm still interested in learning. Thanks

Well It depend in the situation we cant say that ethereum will over take bitcoin beacause bitcoin is the best of all coins but maybe the ethereum will increase that high but ethereum cant over take bitcoin easily.

In my oponion BTC will take the lead within 2 to 3years or more but we can not tell if ETH can still lead BTC. But still possible!!! Just keep track of what happen to BTC and ETH but hoping BTC will stay strong rather than ETH.

The reason IS VERY SIMPLE. ETH is not a long Term investment since once Vitalik applies Casper and PoS , trading will not be possible for ETH. Trading is what actually makes the coin valuable.

Ethereum will never surpass Bitcoin.
