So does anyone know the best way to smooth the process of getting our miners through US customs? I'd like to make sure that I have all my ducks in a row before the miners arrive!

Miners are shipping from the US, so it would be domestic shipping. If your talking about getting them out of the USA then I've shipped plenty of miners out without problems on the US side, problems usually happen at the destination country.

Hey guys.

So bobsag will be handling our U.S. distribution. He will receive one package straight from the factory for all U.S. orders and then send them out as soon as he gets them. This way we have to deal with customs once. This will be much better than 100 different packages having to face customs.

Also, for those of you who have not yet sorted out a PSU, bosag can help you in that regard. Send him a message.

I feel like this actually may add extra days to our shipments, no?

Also I know bobsag has a lot going on...can someone alleviate my concerns about these not being shipped out immediately.  Sorry, at this point every day counts...

Bob, what's your plan?

Dealing with customs is a pain. None of these items should cause an issue but all it takes is one agent to have a bad day or think these devices are harmful in some way, then the shipment could be delayed for months. So shipping them to a distributor should be the best route since it can be called a "industrial sample" or "prototype".

Well that sounds much better! I was worried about the customs process, and this is a good thing. Hopefully bobsag3 will get everything shipped out pronto!

Actually it should be faster. Instead of going from China to Australia and then to the US first, going from China right away to the US and then shipping from there is much quicker. Though I am wondering about the original express shipping costs we paid since it should be drastically cheaper doing it this way.

So they'll be flashed and all set up in the U.S and then sent out to buyers in the U.S.

Why were these devices being built in china? I thought regardless where you bought I thought I was was going to get a "made in Australia" sticker on my drilbit systems boards. At least you got your Chinese boards faster than I did with a hub I accidentally bought from china. I took around 2 weeks to get it from china.

I am not 100% sure on the details- barn and I are still working them out, But since I have worked with the factory that is producing before, It should take no more than 3 buisness days from completion for me to have them, maybe 2 depending on UPS Express. last 2 shipments of UPS saver and ~40kg took 3 days each to get here (left Tuesday night for them, I got thursday afternoon).

I am looking at shipping eveyones orders out from me same-day(unless I need to do additional testing), and all is going out either UPS 2nd day air, USPS Priority Or USPS Express. So 2 days or faster once on this end.

I hope this answered some questions, Ill go back an re read to be sure.

The Chinese factory proved to be much faster.

Will bobsag be honoring the express shipping option for those that paid for it? UPS Ground does not count as express shipping, even if it does originate in the US.

What happens if boards arrive damaged from poor packaging? Will bobsag or Barntech be dealing with it?

Is there a hosting option from bobsag? If so, what's the price per 4 boards and will there be a refund/credit for shipping cost already paid?

I should be able to honor any express shipping, just now it should be a great deal faster. [I hate UPS ground, never ever ever ever again]

If barntech and customers would Like, I can test all board briefly before re-packing, but as far as broken board to to shipping, I will assist in anyway Barn would like me too.

I in fact have a hosting option- I think I will be hosting ~30 boards for barn. PM me for a quote, but if you paid for shipping and want hosting, Im sure something can be worked out.

China>US is much much faster than China>AUS>US. Last china to AUS package I know of took a week via DHL express, 3 days to the US via USPS Express Saver

What are you going to charge for hosting?  %revenue or fixed costs per kwh per board etc?  How would end users control the mining pools they attach to or will these devices connect to an internal system for revenue tracking?  I'm moderately interested in this option especially for the first couple/few months where firmware may be getting more frequent updates and faulty devices are more commonly detected, I assume you would have a maintenance agreement in place with Barntech for this part?

Thanks for the info in advance!

Hosting is based on a flat $/ month, based mostly on KWH usage. Im not sure how end users would control them.. still working on both hardware and software solutions right now. The interm is I can give out teamviewer access to the requested machine.

As for broken/faulty units, that will be up to Barn's discretion, Im sure he will answer when he wakes up. Anything software or hardware done to the units hosted has to have the Owner's explicit instruction to do so, for liability reasons.

I would love to pick up some more boards but with 1 BTC @ ~$350 it is just too much... Undecided Could you set the price in USD (or AUD) like the shipping costs are? Just wondering... Thanks!

Not sure the technicals of what they are doing or if it applies to the drillbit boards but the bluefury usb bitfury miners are now being "pencil" modded to raise hashrate from 2.2 ish GH/s per chip to 3+ GH/s per chip.  More info can be seen here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=319419.400

What sort of GH/s on each of these chips are we seeing on the drillbit boards, would what they are doing help boost hashrate at all here (pre-release I guess different resistors could be used so that "pencil mods" are not needed), I suspect its more the design of the boards so may be limited to just them but one of the "pencil modders" theorized that they may be able to push the bitfury chips closer to the theoritical 5 GH/s using this technique (I think they gave a number > 4.5 GH/s) but I'm no hardware expert so I just wanted to leave this here for those that are to mull over.

Wow, that's quite a jump!!  Hopefully this will work out for us as well.

From what I'm hearing talking to people the pencil mod is pretty risky since the graphene doesn't necessarily stay put where you draw the line.  If something could be done during fabrication I'm down but I'm not gonna take the chance once I have it in hand.

you could use something like this for a slightly more permanent solution:

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=NS3033

Edit: my bad, didn't realise there needed to be some resistance. Haven't done any pencil mods since connecting bridges in Athlon XP days. (you could use conductive paint on those)

No way, a silver pen would cause a direct short, it's is not the same as a pencil. Bad suggestion, don't anyone try that please!

You want a permanent solution, solder in the correct value resistor, don't f@ck around with pencils!
