Why newbies like me was kinda hard to get merit unlike other higher rank got easily merited?

Did you just shared your opinion or it's based on some proven statement? Can you clarify with some data? That would be helpful to evaluate.
Take myself as example, I never feel it was hard to get merit. There are hundreds or more newbies who is/was way faster than me to earn merit. You have to look at all the data available on the forum. Check this- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4850225.0

There are few arguments too that newbies don't get enough merit. This is true sometimes but most of the newbies who don't get a lot of merit are either spammer (no effort when they post) or they are posting in a local board where no merit source is there. Most of the times, newbied don't get merit because they don't put some effort to write a post. There was a thread on why Higher Rank Member got more merits than lower rank. While this is true, this is also true that higher rank members are knowledgeable and they put effort to write post (not everyone though). So, it makes sense why they got more merit than previous.

Merit is subjective and it given for quality posts, so other users woukc merit you if they find your posts merit worthy.
If you want to get more merits, increase the quality of your posts and do not make posts simply for the sake of making them.

You can have a genuine interest in the off:topic and altcoins section, but you should understand that your chances of getting nerited is greatly reduced as users rarely give out merits there cause majority of the posts are shitposts.

That offtopic board is full of low quality posters. I still manage to post in altcoin board, what I noticed is that most merit sources are bitcoin enthusiasts, most of them do not visit altcoin boards.

1st this forum can give you many merits if you deserve it . To get more merits you need to be a little bit quality poster than you did right now. Merit is given to that User who contributed in the forums/deserving to be given. There's no other user who helps you to get some merits all they do is giving you a tips on how to get it example of that is you need to contribute in this forum or to be a quality poster and stop asking about merits.

I have made it easy for you to get merit because you are one of the Indonesian Local users. Do something on the thread I have provided. [HELP]Bantuan untuk menaikkan Rank (Newbie s.d Hero) V.2 [UPDATE]. You just need to increase the activity and quality of your posts especially if you want to get merit help in that thread. Submit at least 5 of your quality posts for review (Indonesian only) and maybe you will get them. But unfortunately, your first attempt on the thread didn't get much attention because the quality of your post was deemed not of sufficient quality. Just do what is suggested, improve your quality and of course people will merited you both in Local Board and others.

You know, a lot of users have had success doing it and I'm sure you can too if you're willing to learn and improve the consistency of posting constructive things. So, don't complain and do it now.

I see you've posted several times on the Indonesian board. I assume you are Indonesian.

A few clues that you can try to learn from some threads that I made on the Indonesian board:
- ELECTRUM - BITCOIN WALLET, please make simple things with the application, such as creating a Bitcoin address sign message.
- [Tutorial] PGP/GPG Signed Message - Public Key, learn to create encrypted messages, post in the thread the results.

Let's learn together.

Make Merit your second target after you understand something about Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency. Hopefully, Merit will come to you later.

Member for 3 1/2 years. On and off active in a couple forum areas. All of 3 Merits. Almost a jr member. I will say I am not a heavy poster at all, and do a lot more reading of posts who often have helped me find answers. The whole point of the forum for me. I do try to be an active participant where I can and have posted valid and helpful input when I actually have it, but it's often for other newbies.  Getting merit does seem not all that easy, or maybe my handful of posts aren't that helpful

Of course, this is not the place to ask for merits, and there are threads in which you can get members to review your posts.

I did review your posts, and they seem to be pretty decent in terms of largely seeming to help share information about some of your mining experiences.,. and you do not really seem to be a shitposter, a spammer or any of those kinds of less than desirable things that were part of the reason for the merit system to lessen the ranking up of those kinds of posters (you do not seem to be one of those).

 I had not seen your posts before in part because I do not follow the kinds of mining threads that you seem to do - as you seem to be interested in mining-related ideas (at least from your historical posts).. and of course, you participate in the forum in the areas of your interest... nothing wrong with that.

I would suggest striving to make a post a week in the forum or at least a post every two weeks, and members will get to know you better with the passage of time.. It does seem to take quite a bit of time for members to get to know you, and surely you gain more credibility with more members knowing you and then starting to trust your judgement, but surely no members warm up to any other members without seeing them post for a while, and in that regard, it takes a while for members to get to know you, and they will never get to know if you if you do not post...

Another thing would be to maybe go to and get involved in some other more active threads on the forum too.. of course, the areas of your forum participation should be areas that are of interest to you... while at the same time, you will likely get to know the posts of some other members and maybe learn some topics or contribute to those topics.. whether other members agree with you or not.  

By the way, I thought everyone who is interested in bitcoin would be interested in bitcoin price, and from my quick review of your posts, I did not see if you are involved in mining shitcoins, which surely is less interesting to me personally (and various shitcoin topics or projects are not interesting to me either.. so in the end, there are going to be certain kinds of members in some parts of the forum and other kinds of members participating in other parts of the forum)..

Also like you mention, there might be some value in participating in parts of the forum that are a mixture of newbies and longer time members.. not that it hurts to help newbies, but it can also be helpful for longer time members to come across your posts from time to time and they would be more likely have merits, too.. not that you are even asserting that you are ONLY trying to get merits, but surely it does feel better for members to get some merits - especially when they feel that they are contributing to the forum... and to feel that their posts are appreciated.. even though appreciation might also come through interacting with some members in threads of interest to you, too...... ...

The Merit system was created to stop account farming spammers. You're not a spammer, so in my opinion Merit shouldn't be holding you back from ranking up. I've taken the easy approach and doubled the Merit you received from others.

Feel free to post in Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source in the future.

Posting here helps to get some attention. If a spammer does it, he'll be checked for plagiarism. If it's a decent poster, he gets the attention he deserves. I normally don't visit the boards ruber1 posts in, and if I don't see the posts, I can't Merit them.

Bro, you've got an excellent merit:post count ratio, so I'd say if you were more active you'd be climbing the ranks in no time--but in general you're right, merit really isn't easy to earn unless your posts really stand out against the backdrop of zillions of uniform-length, poorly-written shitposts that make most threads unpleasant to read.

By the way, it's good that you're more of a reader than a poster, and I mean that in a positive sense.  Sometimes it seems like the members who post the most are bounty hunters or sig spammers just trying to earn money.  Nothing new there, but I think it's pretty rare that members like you who've been around a few years just enjoy reading.  When I was a lurker years ago, I found the drama aspect of bitcointalk fascinating--and lately there hasn't been much of that.  Ah well.

I gave you that merit because I noticed many good members gave you merits yesterday which showed that you have some good posts, it mow remains on your hand to post better because I believe some good members are focusing on your account which will help you, if you do not post good, you may lose their attention.

I didn't create a separate topic and this topic seems to me suitable for my post and therefore I will write it here.

Let me start right off with what I want to say:
I believe that it is necessary to increase the number of merit-sources, and the number of sMerit generated by them should be reduced. Proportionally. Increasing merit-sources by 2 times will reduce sMerit generated by the current merit-sources by 2 times (per month). That is, the total number of generated sMerit on the forum will remain the same, and we will only "give" them to new sources.

Why?
- Will increase the diversity of opinions, which will allow you to get a more objective view of the topics discussed. Each of the current sources is interested in certain sections

... You mainly post on boards I don't read, so allow me to dump some Merit on this topic.

Look, some of the sources do not have time to cope with the duties assigned to them to the fullest extent, and it seems to me that it would not hurt to make their life a little easier. If look at the statistics of some of them, you can see that they throw off merit-packs.

Are all these posts super high-quality, useful and informative that they deserve such high rewards? Maybe.

If merit-sources have less sMerit, then they will be able to more effectively and usefully dispose of them. There will be no need to dump in large batches trying to spend the monthly rate.

- Increasing the number of sources will make this system more "decentralized" (we all like decentralization , isn't it?). More "nodes" - less concentration of sMerit in one hand - better circulation in the community.

What negative effects can appear? 
At the moment I don't see it because the monthly volume of sMerit will remain the same.

This is my subjective opinion and it is quite possible that there are exceptions and I am even mistaken.

I would like to hear an opinion on this matter from the administration of bitcointalk, active merit-sources and ordinary users of this forum. Let us know if my proposal is worth considering.

More opinions - more new ideas. Of course, only a small part of the general ideas will be implemented, but large volumes will increase the percentage of the most successful ones.

Right now, we have 111 merit sources on the forum. I'm not sure how many of them are active. But here's a math if you think there's no need to increase the total circulation-
If total circulation is same 34139 smerits per 30 days and only sources increases, we will still get the same number of smerits but some more inactive sources (possible).
While if with current 111 sources, if merits are distributed to high quality users, they are likely to get re-distributed since most merits are received by active users.
If we need any change, I think we should add more merit sources targeting local board. For example, Bengali thread doesn’t have a merit source. I share smerits to quality post as long as I have but since that depends on my earned merits, most of the time, I'm out of smerit.

Let me remember you theymos also want merit sources to dump their smerit to the deserving users. I can't find the post at the moment. If LoyceV has an easy access

You're wrong here: Merit doesn't mean "I like this", nor does it mean "I agree with this". It means the Merit source thinks a post is worth reading. See:

But since being a Merit source is a volunteer "job", and actually takes quite a lot of time, I don't want to read posts I'm not interested in.

The idea is that Merit trickles down: users who receive Merit can send sMerit to other users again.
You're of course free to apply for a Merit source position. I don't think the number of sources will double without 100+ applications.

If they complain about amounts, tell them to complain to me. It's best if sources try to exhaust their source allocations, even if it means giving posts higher amounts than is typical. If you have 150 source merit and you only see 3 merit-worthy posts in a month, then I'd rather you over-give each of them 50 merit than let the merit expire. @m2017. How many people have applied yet to be a merit source, just only four or five people, theymos can not force people to be a merit source. If 90 people apply for merit source today, the forum posts can reduce. This way is the best way, if you are established on this forum as theymos said, you can apply for a merit source. It can take time before theymos may choose merit source but he will still choose new merit source if sending merit on this forum have reduced. We have merit source makes us have quality posts, what matters again?
