Inform your customers and be clear about such important things or you are on the best way to Mt.Gox 2.0.
Maybe thats just what they want...

I just don't get it. You would think they'd take a close look at their business rivals and try to be better.

But here we are...

Just an Update..

I'm still waiting for my 400 USD to show up, as much as ANY ANSWER from support, either from ticket or email.. IT'S BEEN 72 HOURS in the dark..

Today I deposited 1000 USD and came through JUST FINE .. INSTANTLY.

LIKE I SAID.. Bitstamp is running totally on automated mode.. If you're lucky enough to have automatic working you're ok.. But I REPEAT.. if you run ANY PROBLEMS .. You are on you own.. Bitstamp turned into some kind of old-west...

I am also a happy customer, up until now:

I deposited 600 EUR on 08/11/2013.
No USD arrived in my account...
I called my bank, they said everything went through.

6 days ago, I opened a support ticket.
yesterday, I received an answer, I needed to send a bank statement
I did that.
Today, they said according to their logs, the funds did not arrive and willlook into it;

I hope everything will be resolved soon. I am waiting for more than 2 weeks now!

got the exact same ticket response + funds credited

(almost) the same here:

about 2 hours after my support ticket, my account got funded (as always with a pretty fair EUR-USD conversion rate Cheesy)

So I would suggest that those who a) shout SCAMMERS and b) signed up about on here a week ago STFU. Complaining about sub-optimal service is one thing, running around like a headless chicken is something different.

But that said:

+1 for Rampion's post.

Bitstamp direly needs to increase its number of employees. Among them: someone who handles PR (and posts regular updates about what is going on)

Opening a bank account in a major eurozone country might also do wonders for confidence. Not that there's a whole lot of confidence in the banking system, but Slovenia has one of the worst in the eurozone. A German or Austrian bank would probably be best.

ROI is not a verb, the term you're looking for is 'to break even'.

This topic comes up over and over again. Their bank is Unicredit Slovenia. Maybe not my ideal idea of a bank either, but probably better than the (formerly) state owned Slovenian banks.

Anyway, the point is Bitstamp decided on that bank, and that is that. It's clear they won't change that part of their system, so you either accept that element of risk or not.

The lack of response/updates and general feeling of creeping up delays however is something they *can* quickly fix, and there's no excuse for not doing so (by hiring some more staff).

Hey, it's their business, they get to run it the way they choose. But I find it worrying that they apparently either won't bother to get a German account, or no major German bank will have them. That does not inspire confidence.

To be fair,

There EURUSD exchange rate is fair.
If I use my bank for forex exchanges, they rape me without lube! 0,01 spread!

(For large forex exchanges I normally use UKForex or transferwise, but again, Stamps, exchange rate is fair).

I understand what you're saying. I had the same thoughts of course when I signed up. But through a combination of some personal research (asking a Slovenian friend who's also an economist Cheesy) and trying to stay updated on the topic, I am relatively sure the account is safe. Sure, if the banking landscape in Slovenia goes haywire, it would happen fast, but Unicredit is the subsidiary of a major Italian bank, and they are not in the same league of problems as the Slovenian state banks. In other words, should there ever be an opt-in (not certain that this will actually happen), I consider it rather unlikely that Unicredit would be included. And re: German bank account. I'm not sure that would be better. Sure, more stability from the banking side, but it'd also mean under the eyes of a probably more rigorous German state prosecutor. It's not that Bitcoin is illegal in Germany, far from it, but I wouldn't really like to be on a German exchange either at the moment.

I wonder what do you guys write in the declaration of the transaction?
Just the message or something like "Important message: message" ?

I do it the second way, I wonder if automation system will still process that transaction without human approval...
