This is getting ridiculous, we pay the 3% because of ease to use and stability. Running home every day to restart miner is not it.
Use a miner -- such as recent poclbm -- that automatically falls back to another pool. Why run home at all, for a simple miner hiccup such as temporary pool downtime? i cant remote anything at work. does guiminer have this fallback feature? i dont remember seeing it. will probably switch to slush if this happens again. I like deepbit because of the easy payout and it let me see the average rate from the website with 1 click.

Changing to http://www.prq.se/?intl=1 PRQ would be magnificent. The most resilient hosting that I know. (Responsible for hosting the pirate bay). Well, I really don't think TPB should be considered "the standart" when it comes to availability... it's sometimes offline for 12 hours... the only reliable thing about TBP is, that it will always come back, even after being off for hours..

I really dont think nations are DDoSing TPB, maybe some rouge parts of the media industry... And I think its not kids DDoSing pools either, I can hardly imagine some script kiddies are in control of botnets big enough to do that... I think its a couple of guys that really know what they're doing (of course DDOS is bitchy and childish, but using a botnet to do mining is hardly something you can do by after reading "Hackers Black Book"...) I think, there is a lot of money involved in this and of course a lot of rage after beeing banned...

I used prq.se a few years ago but stopped because I felt their customer service was less than responsive. Only one guy seemed to be manning help desk (Gottfried) and he seemed to be always overworked. Their hosting was bulletproof but making changes seemed to take a long time. Are they better now? I know they moved data centers.

The guys are criminals - probably not "script kiddies". They don't get what they want (having the botnet mine at pools), now they do this for punishing the pools. I hope it stops soon. Your'e correct, these guys are not skiddies. I only know, because I know who's actually behind all of this. I have no take in it, just know from being connected via whomever.. however, its more than just a botnet and its not punishment. They have their reasons behind it. The attack against deepbit is not supposed to stop any time soon. Its just how they're currently operating. Conducting a DDOS requires access to a big botnet. And no, whitelists won't help if it's big enough (BTC Guild banned *every* IP, and they are still unable to offer their services because the connection is at the limit). Additionally, BTC Guild did not black list every IP address. This I know because I know Eleuthria at a more personal level. There have been major changes to his infrastructure over the last few days and more to come in the coming week, however it takes more than just a large enough pipe to handle the attacks. You need access to an upstream provider who is capable of withstanding the attack as well as mitigating through means of nulling the route upstream, not just the IP of the pools server, that doesn't do anything for the miners or the pool operators, other than shutting them down. BTCGuild is moving to a larger connection, much larger connection. This I know because I am the one plugging it in

What's the update on the DDoS?
A lot of my miners seem to have settled in at Deepbit, but I can't access the website. Not a good combo.

Are you guys kidding? A botnet requires VERY VERY little knowledge to setup. There are literally hundreds if not THOUSANDS of tutorials that show step by step instructions for setting up a botnet (@ hackforums..the place that rivals 4chan for amounts of skids). The basic software, with a VPS could easily handle thousands of bots. Spreading is as easy as pie. Seriously, who's going to know they've been infected when the only that happens once in a while is that their internet connection is slightly slower than normal? ~bluefirecorp

Anyone can set up a script on a irc server connect any DoS performer client capable of irc connections and do it. Easy but I will not get into details here.

You are giving crises a bad name. Just switch over to a backup pool until db comes back online. Greece is a crisis. This is an inconvenience.
Crisis is defined in the eye of the be-holder. Some people can afford to loose time more than others. Loosing 12 hours of mining could mean loosing 1 bitcoin, or loosing 100 depending on who you are. Thank you for making my point. Doesn't change that you can failover to another pool and no lose those hours...

Well he is a newbie, white listed so he must be knowledgeable and in the loop :p I am half kidding since it seems unlikely that he does, but Eleuthria would surely deny it if this guy is lying, so then, if this guy knows both the attackers and the victims .... then what does that mean? Or is there a partial truth here? I can't come to a conlusion about anything posted, except that I can't mine, but I don't really case since the difficulty has made it such that it is not worth the constant babysitting [even if it is still profitable for me if things are running smooth 24/7]. Shutting down all mining equipment and going to normal GPU clock settings on my workstation until this blows over ... or bitcoin blows away.
