Nope. If a bot could actually play optimal (the best, unbeatable, strategy) it would print money in every no limit hold em games, regardless the number of opponents. Obviously heads up games are A LOT more easy to solve.

If you want a no bot experience play PLO/pot limit omaha.  I think they will need quantum computers for that game.

What's deadly in PLO is collusion.  Someone (or a team) playing 3 hands at once and sharing hole cards is going to have an unbeatable advantage over a player who is not cheating.

Even the best players get a hard time at PLO . It just depends on luck too much .

Not in the "long run" but the long run is longer, since hands run much closer in value, and you can even end up in weird situations like flopping the nuts and still being a dog in the hand (shit like nut straights without a redraw are always potential disasters).

It will be crazy if these bots get used in online poker. However sites like stars have an antibot policy, and will have something to detect these.

Yeah, the best way would be to set it up so that the computer just tells you what to do - and then you physically click the buttons.

Not worried though... doubt those guys are gonna sell their research work to people so they can bot online poker.

And, yeah it only does HU limit holdem.  Even HU no limit holdem would be way tougher because of the variable bet amounts.

Quote
Sandholm calls the study a “landmark result.” His own group has been working on a much harder problem — no-limit hold'em, where the sizes of bets and raises are variable. However, solving this game, which is the most popular version of hold'em poker worldwide, might just be impossible.

“This form of poker is both harder and more popular than heads-up, limit hold'em,” said Jackson, who switched his focus from limit to no-limit hold'em after 2012. “I don't think it will be solved (not even approximately) in our lifetimes, so there are still plenty of challenges!”

I am not worried about the colluders I got back 6 chips  due to collusion lifetime. I have sent in ton of hand that where all ignored.  Hands where I caught sets and other players I suspected of colluding  shoved me in with air . I am sure to the utmost that I have been more then properly reimbursed. If I see any sort of collusionary type effort and it is pretty easy to spot I don't bother reporting I just leave the game. Shit like people check raising pre flop squeezing etc.

Worse then the colluders and soft players in the mtts are the blatant scammers. Its a  shame that seals does nothing and lets them operate with impunity though I understand seals mgmt doesnt want to err and accuse an innocent player so the mgmt policy is not to get involved  in side deals. Without side deals new players have a really difficult time getting money on and the opportunists that scam them are operating with impunity and voracity.  There are a few people that have been going from screen name to screen name in the 2 plus years I have been on seals with the sole intent of building reps running long cons and scaming people in 250 dollar transactions and up.

THe way this ez to spot scheme works is after a scammer scams someone for 250 usd or more the scammer  will open another seals screen name. He will then go to seals deals and wot and start doing trade after trade usually bogus and leave comments like sent chips for 250 usd worth smooth transaction, did chop, did trade without escrow  building up his trust and rep and keep doing this until finds a victim. There are several accounts that will leave these type of messages poffering up false rep and catching suckers.

One person that has been extremley active the past few months  is a player by the name of coldxcall. He has spawned from the above scenario from other names like FLIPACHIP, STACKNCHIPs and POK3god. GLitch can confirm as has been called out by the community and dissapears into another scam name repeating the seals wot trust . THere is not a chance that I have accused this person unfairly as is backed up by glitch in seals deals when glitch was helping ender with wot.

As long as seals admin doesn't get involved these same groups of players will continue this scheme as they have done for months and months with impunity leaving seals players at risk to be scammed over and over which is precisely what has been happening. There are more players then the above doing this the above player just happenes to be the most prolific at this point. Easy to spot as have to enlist seals deals in order to perpetuate this well oiled scam. THe person I have mentioned above is on to his next screen name . He is an active ring and mtt player if he is doing these scams ripping people off its a good bet he is colluding in the mtts and ring games he is in as well.

One thing seals could do is make the multiple account policy strict by only allowing 2-3 multiple accounts. That would atleast not let scammers create multiple account.

I agree that new players getting scammed in the lobby is bad for the games... but I think the only thing Seals can really do is to maybe put up a disclaimer warning them that trading money with people is risky.

They could make it clear that they strongly recommend using something like Circle to buy/sell bitcoin yourself.

Not to blame the victims... but the best way to avoid getting scammed is to not send irreversible money to anonymous strangers on the internet.

He was joking.  It was in response to the discussion about people getting scammed...

Is there anyway you can implement a monthly tournament, say like a $100 buy-in and have it be deep stack so like 15-30K chips? Since I play casino tournaments I'm not so inclined to play the Big BTC every weekend, but if there was a tournament like this I would definitely be interested. If the player pool was big enough I'm sure it would be successful.

Don't think many will register for it...even the Big BTC currently at about $75 does not get many entries...this site seems to be stuck in neutral for a year in about the same number of players even after the December promotions...don't know if it is the software, possible old Maven software security exploits concerns, or Micon's half naked videos but the site does not seem to be growing as fast as it should,..even with the great fast payouts, you would think that the site would grow faster then it has been doing.

I think it would work if they give enough time before hand to promote it and allow people to buy bitcoin and stuff.

The DoD XL tournaments were a success and drew more players than normal.

Even if it's just a one time thing, a large special tournament with a big guarantee and a month to promote it should bring in new players.

Especially with WPN now taking bitcoin deposits... more poker players are just now learning about bitcoin and figuring out how to buy it.  Seals should capitalize on that run a big tournament that gets attention and draws them in.

Yep the promotion was great....the problem is that traffic is back to pre-promotion levels.  I think that WPN now taking bitcoin deposits and soon withdrawals is actually bad for SwC....I see some SwC regs posting in the WPN thread at 2 + 2 that they  will deposit as soon as the bitcoin withdrawal option is available. It may be soon that SwC is no longer the bitcoin leader.
