After this n-factor, won't be in our best interest to mine it anymore with slower cards. 280's and 290's, 7950, 7970, and cpu's....

We are steady at 2x on crypto-trade.com but on cryptsy.com at lower price. We must concentral on tradition crypto-trade only to keep our future go up little by one. We must up there.

At what point does it become pointless to use our GPUs?

If the current n-factor gives me 120/150 KH/s for my 280Xs/290, the next will be be 60/75 and then 30/38. I will still be able to mine the same number of coins with these hash rates? Just trying to figure out how long my 4 280Xs and one 290 have got with this coin/scrypt.

You will still get as much coins as u do now, unless ultracoin gains popularity and attracts more miners.
But after a few more N factor increasese, it will be more cost effective to CPU mine this coin.
If there is a CPU miner by then ofcourse...

It is true your hashrate will half, but will we be able to adjust the settings to compensate this time? higher TC, more system ram are already being questioned

OK so still good for the next few n-factors. That reminds me, do I need to upgrade my RAM?

My 4 x 280X rig is currently using 4GB, should I be on 8 or am I good until a certain n-factor? I presume my 290 rig is OK with 16GB.

I think its time for Bumface and Ziggy to update the community on mining and the changes that will happen over the next month or so. It would be good to layout what people should expect, what the optimum mining platform is as things change, etc.

It is also time to address the questions we have raised about POS and possible changes. Thanks!

what problem?

We don't have an independent CPU miner that can be used for pools. Some of the patched CPU miners for a couple other scrypt-jane coins have a close enough start time that they will work while our n-factor overlaps with theirs. The main issue is getting one set up for ultracoin and having compiled versions available.

Bumface, there is the possibility that your precious can be burned by CPU farm mining after few n-factor changes. This is the problem. If you can prove that this is not going to happen that would be very nice.

Celebrities are always interested in winning stories. They like win-win situations, like those where they win twice.

Don't worry it will soon be time to dip again because we're not going to go higher without dipping in between. I just wanted to underline that this was a move that did not look like exponential decay of stillborn cryptos.

So far so good, the situation looks good, and we need this kind of fundations to progress.

I have put 2+2 together, cpu mining would have been dev'd/promoted more if intention was for cpus to be able to mine. highest hashrate i've seen for cpu is 125kh, could be higher, but again this is highest i've seen. Wallet setgenerate mining fluctuates wildly from 0 to 25kh for my cpu, and spends more time at 0 kh. So from what I've experienced and observed, CPU mining is a joke.

Maybe, maybe not: if you spam them this can also create adverse effects.
So better think twice and not try to get more than everyday's share.
The coin has not yet gained enough acceptance to interest investors of that caliber.

Wait...

I would like to know why does n-factor not affect cpu's. yeah yeah memory intensive, multiple threads, ram. i got all that, but if hashrate halves for cpu's as well, which I don't know if it halves, then wouldn't cpu mining still get harder over time as n-factors increase?

Can someone who has been cpu-mining AND experienced any n-factor change answer?
