bump..

For starters, there hasn't been a mass exodus from scrypt.

It makes little sense why someone would put that much into something that has not stood the test of time.

Money is the only thing that makes sense. If scrypt in your area is unprofitable, then you mine X11 due to low electric cost.

What assurances do we have that the stratum exploit(s) isn't being used ? How is a noob to know ? lmao

As for my X11 asic theory...  its only code.

What stratum exploit(s) be specific. Like the one corrected by DGW Months ago ?  Roll Eyes

Step 1 : Throw some affirmations without proof.
Step 2 : Ask for proof that those affirmations are unfounded.

Troll 101

What is there to stop a coin dev or pool op from using these ?

How can the general public verify that they aren't ?

fake hash vulnerability  #66
https://github.com/slush0/stratum-mining-proxy/issues/66

Flooding with shares below the pool target #326
https://github.com/Crypto-Expert/stratum-mining/issues/326

That's an old issue... check the discussion near these pages: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.8620

Nice to see that people are already on it. Smiley

Is there a noob friendly way for us to check ?

As far as I know all pools for DRK were patched back then - I'm not sure though about newer pools. As for a way to check, I can't give you an answer. Someone familiar with the issue probably can.

I'm trying to set up a masternode using this guide: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-1-3.240/

But, when setting up an instance in EC2, I can't find 'Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS (PV)' as is shown in the image in the guide. Am I blind? I can find 14.04, and slightly different versions of 12.04 (without (PV) behind it IIRC). Which one should I choose? Is there a more up-to-date guide?

Sorry for the noob questions.

14.04 worked for me fine with that guide. You can skip the compile in part 2 as you're just going to download the binary anyway, but only do this if you know your way around the CLI as you'll have to ignore or change some later steps where you replace the compiled darkcoind with the binary one. If unsure just run through it all as is, takes an extra 15 minutes, no big deal.

Thanks. I tried 14.04 and when I was almost done with Part 2, I got an error that I didn't see explained anywhere. I'm going to start over and pay more attention this time.

We found another (yet again!) issue with the masternode voting system and have pushed up a fix. Please update before Wednesday.

Source code:
https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin

Stable version (v0.9.3.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoin-qt

RC2 (v0.10.7.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoin-qt

Run a masternode? Update to v0.10.7.2
Run a service? Update to v0.9.3.2
Run a windows client? Binaries will be available soon (InternetApe will post later)

Bumping it so that it doesn't get burried.

In your darkcoin.conf file, replace 'ami_public_ip' with your actual server IP. (Elastic IP if you're using Amazon)

In the conf file you have to put your IP instead of 'ami_public_ip'

I think we might get a decline this upcoming week and it might drop to around .0036.

That seems like the pattern the past few weeks.

We really need better documentation and FAQ pages.

http://www.darkcoin.io/faq.html isn't even up.

Has an FAQ been started already? It should be on Google Docs and everyone willing to contribute should be added as a collaborator.

Who is willing to collaborate on this?

Also, who is willing to collaborate on a Guide & FAQ for masternodes setup?
