Can someone create a formula that calculates daily/monthly profit for a masternode where you can put in your own variables like DRK price in USD, number of masternodes currently active, etc.? I have too little knowledge to create this formula, but it should be possible?

Roughly, 1000 DRK/day divided by number of masternodes.

eg, 1000/500 masternodes = 2 DRK/day per mn

98 MNs for now.

even with 500 MNs and 2 coins / MN it is still better than I get mining it Smiley 60 DRK / month - I`d say WOW very nice.

Hopefully we don't end up with more masternodes than miners.  Cheesy

But the numbers will sort themselves out.

Odd there are so few masternodes in the East. 3 in Japan (Amazon), 3 in Singapore, one in Taiwan, by my reckoning. You'd think the Chinese for example would be all over DRK.

Digital Ocean has refused to publish public ip address range per region(Amsterdam, San Francisco, New York, and Singapore).
So country and isp divide of Digital Ocean is incorrect.

We are past the $11M market cap, and the price just keeps going. I wonder if/when we will surpass Mastercoin?
Luckily I bought in 2 weeks ago.

What is this hard fork shit in 3-4 days?

Its purpose is to pay the masternodes 10% of the mining reward for the service of administrating DarkSend transactions.  (that is listed in the first post btw).

Oh yeah, the hardfork was announced on May 1st.

You can avoid that by sending transactions sequentially through multiple nodes... so, if say, the transactions are darksended through 10 nodes, a controller should be able to control all 10 to map the transaction from it's start (input) to its finish (output).

We found another (yet again!) issue with the masternode voting system and have pushed up a fix. Please update before Wednesday.

Source code:
https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin

Stable version (v0.9.3.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoin-qt

RC2 (v0.10.7.2):
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoind
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoin-qt

Run a masternode? Update to v0.10.7.2
Run a service? Update to v0.9.3.2
Run a windows client? Binaries will be available soon (InternetApe will post later)

BUMP for everyone updating...

No, actually not. http://www.mastercoin.org/
It stands out from the coins being released everyday.
So then it is only a matter of time before we overtake them.

Hi guys, I'm writing a media release for the launch of RC2. Does anyone know of a concise explanation of how masternodes work, or could write one for me to slot in?

Maybe that needs to come from eduffield, as he keeps noodling with it?  Grin

edit: I am still worried that two of my masternodes don't show in the wallet 'masternode list' - they are all the latest version (100702) and when I look at the logs, they are up, running, talking to other masternodes, what looks like processing transactions, doing stuff...

If you mean get rid of your passphrase sitting there in the terminal, make sure you have done this:
Code:
cd ~/
ln -sf /dev/null .bash_history
(clears terminal history)
Then close the terminal window, then if you want open another one, and log in again. Up-arrow key should now not cycle through your previous commands.

Check status with
Code:
darkcoind masternode list | grep 'enter.your.ip.here'
and
Code:
darkcoind getinfo
and
Code:
tail -f ~/.darkcoin/debug.log
