It is a good thing for the coin that the devs go for a more cautious way to implement changes. Less hype, more stable growth, et no crash in case of hiccups

2 Failed forks, It will be interesting to see what happens from here, how forgiving can the community be? personally I wasn't willing to take the risk, I got out near the top of the pump. I wouldn't be surprised if the hype machine can pump it up again, especially with a fresh set of bag holders on board

I like many coins like Darkcoin, Monero, NXT, etc..just dont tell lies.
Monero only needs a GUI wallet and it's perfect. Truthfully, it has the best anonymity available through Ring Signatures, along with a team of 7 devs... Other than the GUI wallet, there are no other things needed. Scaling/Bloating has been fixed through upgrading the pool software..since it was the pools sending out dust transactions that bloated the blockchain..
I like DRK, XMR, and NXT. I also like to root for underdogs of underdogs, so I have a small bet on Boolberry (BBR). They have aliases for the long cryptonote addresses, as well as a GUI wallet. They're still young, with a small coin count (under 500k). Also, they're not listed on coinmarketcap yet so they are flying under the radar. Check them out when you get a moment.

Monero could be a competitor 6-12 months from now. They have a LOT of work to do before it's even usable by the average person. Also, there are many disadvantages to Monero, and at this point it isn't certain that they will be fixed.

Scaling/Bloating has been fixed through upgrading the pool software..since it was the pools sending out dust transactions that bloated the blockchain.. While Monero offers the best anonymity there is , Darkcoin also offers masternodes, which I think with their payouts, will be the standard for all Bitcoin based coins and may be a great incentive for mining as it takes 1000 coins out of the supply, which in turn drives the price up, making more people want to mine, a perfect cycle. You're forgetting that there is a magic underway for RC4... RC3 is just masternode payments. RC4 will address anonymity, and Evan does have a few cards up his sleeves. While Monero might work (I dunno if it does or not), Darkcoin is true innovation. That is a huge plus Again, Darkcoin is based off coinjoin, and coinjoin is not that anonymous, as said by the Maker of coinjoin himself, jmaxwell... Monero's anonymity is the best there is.. I don't usually do this to a coin, but I don't like when you lie about other coins to further your own coin. Monero and Darkcoin are both very innovative and shouldnt argue about one over the other. IMO, they serve different purposes. Monero is the true anonymity sending coin, and Darkcoin is the more open masternode payments/transactions coin if you get that. Based on, not cloned! Get you facts straight. Completely different things! And I did not talk down on Monero. If anything, its the only legit alternative to DRK. But in my book, DARK is waaay more innovative in every sense, than Monero. Note the tendency of not talking down other coins while defending the one I like. Unlike FUDsters.

I have, but there is a Huge Huge problem with Boolberry. That's because they use the aglorithm Wild Keccak instead of Cryptonote. There is a private gpu miner for Wild Keccak, as users have been getting on average, 7,000 boolberry per day using the private gpu miner...I recently saw a 80,000 boolberry sell on Poloniex also.. AKA Boolberry has been extremely instamined, most likely more than 50%.

Say what? Where did you get this info ? That cannot be correct. Reverting to xx.xx.01 will "enable" Masternode payments again, and blocks will be NOT be orphaned because the payments will NOT be enabled, but in any case, if anything, xx.xx.02, unless Evan rolls out xx.xx.03

Again, Darkcoin is based off coinjoin,
Again, NOPE. can you explain that? except the decentralisation of mixing through masternodes it is basically the same isn't it? Coinjoin didn't use same size inputs, masking the ability to figure out which output belongs to which input. Then the "change" for the sender is sent back to a one time use address, that can not be associated with the wallet it came from unless you had access to that wallet. Still, there are holes, especially if people reuse addresses that they've made public and don't use DarkSend every time. The biggest thing that will plug that hole in the future is mandatory DarkSend. After that, Evan has something else going on that I know nothing about So yes, coinjoin as Maxwell described is possible to follow the money, but if DarkSend were used, it would be pretty much impossible to "prove" but possible to kind of guess at what is happening with enough analysis. Evan says he has come up with a way to make it as anonymous as ring signatures, but without the bloat. Speaking of bloat, Monero has solved the bloat problem? Or reduced it? I suspect reducing a huge bloat problem won't be enough, being that even bitcoin's blockchain has become ungodly huge. Ours will too, but at least Masternodes can be given the assignment to hold it so that regular users don't have to, yet it will remain decentralized. Anyway, I still like the "mechanical" way DarkSend works over any kind of encryption system, because it obviously won't be long before we have more powerful computer, especially quantum computers, and they will be able to decrypt the code, revealing all the transactions on the blockchain. The DarkSend Blockchain will not be any clearer under the scrutiny of a Quantum Computer.

(bolded quotes) This is pretty silly. XMR will not be "perfect" with just a GUI wallet. There's plenty more they are working on, plenty of other problems to solve. Also, XMR's anonymity is not the "best", but rather on par with all the other CN coins - which makes it tied for the "best" if you want to put it that way. It's generally agreed upon that zerocoin/cash will be the best when/if it ever materializes. Finally, of course coinjoin as used in DS is anonymous.....until you spend using inputs from your change account and original account simultaneously. This is the whole point of denominated change in RC4.

As a merchant and a soon to be exchange operator Monero's bloat problems are massive issues. If it ever reaches mass adoption I will have to dedicate extra hardware and bandwidth for their blockchain or resort to using a centralized blockchain which defeats a lot of the advantages in my opinion.

The bloat is caused by dust transactions, recently a upgrade was made for pools to stop dust transactions. AKA problem is solved. Even then, Ring Signature anonymity is Much much better than coinjoin/masternode anonymity..

I am not saying that no one should mine. Just questioning how to motivate miners. MN owners are motivated by the 20% / block value taken from the miners. So miners get 20% less with MN payments on. That is a fact. And the question to mine or not to mine - lets say you can rent out your mining power for 0.001 BTC / Mhs. Lets assume you have 200 Mhs on hand. Makes 0.2 BTC/day. With current price 0.0165 its aproximately 12 DRK/day. Which is almost double what you would get while mining directly.
And yes, I mine DRK, but my primary goal is to get as much DRK/day as possible, with the expectation of price rise.
You know what... now that I think about it.... go ahead. Everybody buy more and more masternodes... who cares. Invest your life savings in DRK, why not. You will play into the feedback loop that will make mining more profitable evertime you take 1000 DRK off the market. So please, just do as you wish, lol ... Not running any master node myself. And yes, I could if I wanted. Multiple. big penis

That's of useful passing academic interest. But it's not enough to shift markets as you've already seen. DRK would have to be broken in a way that Monero isn't for it to have a strategic market impact at this point. A $40 million market cap isn't going to disinvest itself based on subtle (or even fundamental) differences in technical approach if it considers the job to be done satisfactorily. There are far more influential factors underlying its merits as an investment as opposed to a technology, such as simple market penetration for a start. All the same, I agree with your previous point regarding the desirability of a diverse range of projects and in fact declare that I am a Monero holder. I picked some up way back cos I like hedges and am not a "tribal warfare" kind of investor. That said, I don't see it ever getting near DRK in market cap unless some major show stopper appears.
