Well i managed to download and unzip the blockchain and now the client is stuck on the loading screen the HUC huntercoin logo.. and yep hour later still sitting there looking at me funny Unless HUC wallet works differently than other Bitcoin-like wallets, it will check data you have downloaded the same way as if you downloaded blockchain from other nodes. To blindly trust whatever source of download you picked could end up badly and given that cryptocoins are trustless it is neccessary to check all data. Is there some HDD activity at all, is HUC wallet process using up a lot of CPU? If yes and yes, it is the case as explained above so just wait untill it is all done. Some time ago there was a talk about HUC mobile (or it was web) client, a light node. Any progress there or it was canceled? Given the size of current blockchain, are there any plans to recast a genesis block? Like "at the latest block X do a checkpointing at block X-1440 and freeze database at that point then create a new genesis block containing state of all used addresses ending with block X-1440" or some other deal, in any case wipping all tx data prior to block X-1440. Is there any explorer or website that shows the amount of already mined coins? Block-halving will happen at roughly what date?

If there is an issue it would normally crash. I have looked at the running processes with task manager in windows cpu usage is near or a 0%, also i have an internal SSD and copied the data folder onto it and tried running it, still just freezes.
Tried on other more powerful computers but granted not for as long periods, at this point i have gave up on the qt and will wait for a more stable version.
For trouble shooting i disabled windows firewall to see if that was the issue, and again when hovering over the client running from scratch i get "not responding.." then it disappears and reappears.
Thanks all for the help

did you check debug.log - this will tell you/us the problem. if you used the datafolder in a different directory than the default - did you use -datadir=d:\xxxx option? without debug.log information we can't help. The QT should be pretty rocksolid tbh - although it may be slow syncing..

It's slow AF. Just leave it for days and days at the HUC icon if needed If it looks broke... chances are it will work if you just leave it alone.

Ok reinstalling the qt and letting it sync from scratch, and yes i always use the -datadir every since i got SSD's I'll post the debug once it crashes.. Question: Should i load the game up while its syncing i have not yet but it might keep the qt running and not get the "not respond.." message ** Won't sync now 0 connections ** i am having the same issue with the qt now as someone on the official huntercoin forms has about the qt not connecting, i have tried with the adding nodes and without ... and with windows firewall off, and my main pc, this is the first.. Are the main nodes down or something? Icon

Instead of syncing from scratch download the chain imo - you will have it working fast. If you want i'll help remotely for you (teamviewer or something?)

Looks like no halving: http://huntercoin.org/information/features/10 coins per block at ~block 740000 makes ~7.4M coins mined so far. It says in the info 42M total coins, which would be about 8 years from launch. It's not clear what happens after 8 years though...game over?

42million coins total, 7.5million coins in circulation, block halving should be every 4 years (2.5 to go - i believe). You can use the RPC call which Domob added analyseutxo: { "height" : 734599, "num_utxo" : 371802, "moneysupply" : { "utxo" : 7103619.60886544, "map" : 11464.69388000, "gameFund" : 315914.16725456, "total" : 7430998.47000000 }, "expected" : { "rewards" : 7430999.00000000, "dup_coinbase" : 0.00000000, "unspendable" : 0.53000000, "total" : 7430998.47000000 }, "check" : true } 316k coins in the game fund with be distributed through NPCs and through the Crown of Fortune in a future update.

i think i might know why my client keeps freezing and not responding, that debug log is logging everything and i mean everything , every single packet that's comes in is being logged. Whats the command to disable the debug in the .conf file? O btw client connected today must had been bad irc bots last night Icon *** Updated ** i think i have it, debug=0 is disabled? Cause the client is running alot faster now and alot fewer "not responding..." messages O and something i am a little shamed to admit, when looking at the sync status i was looking at the end numbers not the first set of numbers.. meaning i was looking on how big the sync is when finished not where its at PS If i have the game client up and running and can see the people playing and moving that means i am still syncing right?

I've just tested setting up from a fresh datadir - It looks like I also had some IRC issue if anyone else get's a similar issue add this in huntercoin.conf addnode=178.62.17.234 addnode=192.99.247.234 while we look into it (seems IRC server may be dead)

42million coins total, 7.5million coins in circulation, block halving should be every 4 years (2.5 to go - i believe). Thanks for info, for some reason http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/huntercoin/ is saying that only around 4 million coins are mined so it calculates marketcap at only 39 BTC but even with correct number of mined coins marketcap at around 70 BTC looks ridicule low to me.

I think it's because it extracted the amount of coins in circulation from the old block explorer run by Khal from namecoin.. he created a blank page with the total coins on.. he's MIA and we now use a new block explorer. I will ask BGB to print on a blank page the total amount in circulation..

if you need some help let me know.. you will get the not responding message when it's busy, you just need to wait unfortunately - until fully synced.

Not a huge surprise, imo, SISAR. A couple of months ago when the Unity project was announced, there was a decent pump, and now it seems like "lite" versions that might run on Android or iOS are getting closer to reality, so some price rise is to be expected, I think.
