Will you prefer a Saudi, an Englishman, or an American?

So there's a difference not in who the owners are but how the money comes and what motivations back it. Is the club going to be a play thing for champagne parties like Abramovich? Is it just a trophy wife to brag about at dinners like Venky's when they first bought Blackburn Rovers and aired their players eating fried chicken?

So that's oil money and franchise money from overseas. But do Englishmen fare better? Ask Newcastle about Mike Ashley, who treated talents like Keegan like crap and appointed his own mates to manage the club (not to mention all the tacky stuff he did for his actual business while allowing his club to get relegated, for example renaming St James Park to... Sports Direct Arena). Oil money bought Newcastle but they seem to be learning a lot of lessons... and it doesn't yet appear they're going to treat the club like a toy. Time will tell.

I mean, the English had a bad track record of managing a team, and most of them sold it off after messing with the club; during the Chelsea selling era, no English fan wanted an English owner; of the 20 EPL clubs, only three are owned by Englishmen (Brighton, Brentford, and Tottenham), while the rest are either owned by Americans or Asians. In terms of finance and club success, both clubs owned by Americans and Asians outperform English-owned clubs. The English regard a club as a business in which they are only concerned with profit rather than club success. Liverpool is owned by Americans, making it very easy to transfer ownership to another American. You are correct about nationality, but recent statistics show that a club owned by Saudis is well-funded and managed.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a play thing for champagne parties like Abramovic." I guess we're overlooking the fact that he was the most successful owner since he took over, he put Chelsea on the map, he loved the club, and he left us debt-free. I'm not sure how many owners would walk away from the club and still clear the debts without taking anything home.

I really don't understand what the break would have been for though, because they played a total of 7 games through the course of the world cup, and it could have been more than that if it were to be club side football over that same period, but I'd totally understand in the case of MacAlister and perhaps Alvarez since they both had a huge load of playing time, but given how effective and brilliant they were during the tournament, I see no reason why their respective coaches wouldn't want to capitalise on their form right away, while the confidence is still pretty much over the roof for them.

More of a celebration and reward kind of break rather than resting I guess, and clubs usually allow their players time off to celebrate, just like Sarr and Mane after they won African Cup of Nations. I think also if you force players to come back earlier they play with sour mood or are still drunk from celebrating lol.

Left my predictions for Boxing Day games. Damn, it was really difficult, I have no idea what to expect from teams after more than month break. And even in usual seasons, Boxing Days usually comes with many upsets and lot of goals.

It would be interesting how Argentina players would look playing now just week after World Cup final and all these celebration. But I think it's logical decision to let them to rest for some time. After such emotional final and marathon of celebrations, I doubt that they're physically and mentally ready to play now. It's not an end of word if they will miss one round.

Yeah I think they can skip the boxing day game and then be ready for their teams in order for their teams to capitalize on their awesome performance they showed with their team Argentina during the World Cup.It is not that there are difficult or very important encounters in tomorrow games,I have seen the favorites having from 1.32 to 1.53 odds with Arsenal having this 1.53 odd against West Ham which I think every one of us should capitalize on Arsenal form as based on their recent forms for me Arsenal is going to have an easy win tomorrow night.

That's excellent odds for Arsenal for sure. If it was City though I think even their second squad is good enough the odds wouldn't move but even Arsenal without Gabriel Jesus is probably going to win this easy unless West Ham have something up their sleeve.

Definitely my pick in the pool and also a pick on my bets Spurs is playing now already and it's almost a full team at the front but Lloris as expected only on the bench.

With Jesus missing in action some Arsenal fans ain't sure if the Gunners are going to get pass West Ham that easy. Arteta's boys need to play as a unit and get every ball into the box, with Saka , Martinelli, Nelson that's if he'll start and Nketiah on the mix can make a difference in the West Ham defence. I see a big win for Arteta's men.

Yes, these odds look like an underestimate of Arsenal. I don't think they depend on Jesus so much to give such generous quotes. Maybe it would make sense in a "big" game, but it seems to me that Arsenal will easily beat West Ham simply through team play and not through individual actions of separate players.
In the meantime, the first surprise today (and my wrong prediction) is that Brentford and Tottenham have drawn 2-2.

Spurs. Suspect in the best of times, and suspect in the worst of times. Before the break, they were the UCL Real Madrid team performance of the league, playing their best football late. Did the same to claw back 2 goals, Kane as usual on target.

It's always exciting to start the league with a positive result, especially after a long break. And it's great to see that you were able to predict the outcome of the match and had a successful betting ticket as well!!!it’s important to keep in mind, however, that every match is unique and it's not always possible to predict the outcome with certainty. It's important to approach each match with an open mind and to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of both teams before making any predictions or bets!! Tottenham ruined my ticket for this week I think I'm going to do something.

Yeah, I forgot but I made my picks, predictions around 30 mins ago.  I would've gone for 1 - 1 for Brentford vs Totteham so missing the match wouldn't have really mattered as I would've gotten just 1.5 points.  From a betting perspective, I was leaning towards draw no bet for Brentford at 2.80 as posted at JollyGood's thread but I didn't have the confidence to pull the trigger even for a small bet.  Turned out it didn't really matter...

I'm also leaning towards draw no bet for Aston Villa at 3.10 who's playing at home vs Liverpool.  What do you guys think?

Their infrastructure is quite rubbish and was intended for much smaller number of users. Now when they become more popular they still did not upscale their works. I guess costs of running servers goes rapidly higher when you hit some serious numbers. Superbru has paid version but 99% of people I know uses the free one.

I am saying that just cause I don't think you will get your answer fast, if you are lucky maybe in few days but you picked the worst possible time to look for support. In the middle of hectic Premier League schedule when probably most of the workers are on holidays and they were understaffed even before that. Good luck.

I made my picks a month and a half ago, and it's been so long since the clubs have played that I'm glad I did.  I would feel lost trying to figure out how these matches would go today, but the changes in lineup were inevitable with the recent conclusion of the world cup.  Regardless, it's nice to have the PL back in action, I missed all the Saturday morning action.

Holy f*ck we started the restart of the Premier League with 2 surprises,a Brentford draw and a lost game of Crystal Palace at home which lately had been playing really well.Also I did not expect an Everton lost game against a Wolves which has always struggled during this year to score goals.The other games are going as predicted at least so far,a Brighton win I expected it and also Liverpool is making me happy with this win against Aston Villa.So far I have not made any good points during this boxing day games but there is time to recover in the next few games.

Brentford definitely knows how to start a season (or restart) yeah. Liverpool surprised me, going all out and on all cylinders. Fun to watch but I'd really hoped they went for game management after 2 goals up, but maybe Klopp is demanding his players to play like they're hungry again.

I really can't find any excuses for Nunez anymore, I can't stand the guy. He'll probably score some goals (he has to eventually), but he's so frustrating to watch.

Salah and VVD, as in good old times last season, scored for Liverpool, Tottenham avoided defeat against Brentford, and Newcastle win announcing that they are continuing with CL fight, that can eventually end-up as title fight

Nothing to be proud of, I got the first opening game right but the other games shook me up, it's Boxing Day and I was expecting many goals and many draws as usual, but the other results caught me off guard. I saw the Newcastle game and those boys didn't look like they were messing around, they played like they had full squad training while others were at the world cup, I thought their form and winning streak before the world cup was a fluke, but these guys are gunning for the top four. They have everything it takes to compete in at least one European competition next season.

Nunez's performance made me appreciate Timo and Lukaku even more; he's had 16 chances to score this season and has missed 12 of them. Whoever convinced Liverpool to pay 100 million pounds for Nunez deserves an Oscar.
