never gamble what you can't afford to lose.

there are no "sure bets" in this world, and especially in crypto. we all think that octo is great and will go2moon etc. but it's all a speculation game. it could go nowhere. everyone treats that as a reality. so i wouldn't gamble your life savings.

at the end of the day if you make a profit, it you're "up" then you're golden. think about how long it takes to make %5 on an investment in the real world. so you can't beat your self up for not going "all-in" on somethign which then turns a profit. because you could have just as easily lost it all.

my 2 cents...

With this community, the way the price has gone up with each reward block drop and the dev's being overly active I would hang on to them.  It's only a matter of time before this coin is added to Mintpal and usually that only helps the price of a coin.

You are either a believer or you aren't.  If you believed in the coin enough to accumulated 250K, I take it he isn't in for a quick 5%.  But that's just my two cents Smiley

I wish i had way more octo than i do. I have stopped mining simply due to constant hardware issues. Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC are the worst mobo's for mining ever.

I have made quite a bit mining though. For now I'll continue to buy every 2 weeks when I get paid.

I've bought much more than I have mined. Most of the mined Octos have come from rented hash. I have managed to catch a few other coins with low diff before they took off, grabbed a good chunk of and made a good profit, when they did take off, which allowed me to buy more Octo.

I've done a lot of arbitrage with coins to generate profits to buy even more Octo. I have a nice stash, but I am always looking for more.

I have well over 100K but far less than 1M. I only have one wallet with over 100K in it, so I would not show up anywhere near the top 10 on a rich list. I probably would not get anywhere near the top ten, even if all my wallets were combined.

That being said... If someone wants to dump their Octo; I am always open to buying at the right price...  Grin Grin Grin

I have one address with 1% of all there will ever be just because when I look at the balance all those 8's look cool  Grin the rest is spread around a bit.

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

what do you guys think, how many people have more than > 100000, > 500000, > 1000000 octos?
any place to view such statistics?

I only know of one person with > 1,000,000. I'm getting close but not there yet. Hash rates have been high and steady almost the entire 3 1/2 months since launch so 888 is really spread around. Probably no accurate way to view an actual "rich list" as coins typically are spread among multiple addresses even if held in the same wallet.

Ok, I'm currently at about 250k but as a student this is already far above my money risk threshold. Now I'm just not sure if I should bet my last shirt on this coin...
IF the market cap reaches a value of say 10m, which is a realistic number IMO, then I'll be sorry not to have bought some more octos, when I had the chance.

On the other hand, if I take the profit then, spot another octocoin-like promising coin in the future and reinvest, this would be much safer.

What do you guys think: all in and hope this will be a one shot, one hit? Or play it safe?

Look... this is like a pre-flop All In with AA in your hands.   Cheesy
It's your decision. But i'm pretty sure you won't regret buying more.  Smiley

Great advice earlier - never invest more than you can afford to lose! That being said, a lot of people know who I am and I feel like it's worth something that I have actually met a couple of these guys. In fact, I'm the one who helped them wrap up the FusionHash integration and got Xnigma to add 888 (Xnigma was a big help in the early days of Murraycoin) at launch. Now OctoCoin is using FusionHash for their web hosting despite having their own web server in-house; I don't believe it's any secret at this point that I'm an investor in FusionHash (despite having very little to do with their operations) so this is extra exciting for me. The fact that they have given so many coins to the pools to ensure they are covered, the fact that none of the (modest) premine has been touched, the fact that they quickly came to the aid of edric and donated BTC to him when he was in a bind - these are things you don't typically see in the altcoin world. Yes there is some mystery here and, like everybody else, I would like to start seeing more (as they have assured us we soon will) but I just have a feeling about this one. I have also heard a number of rumors about who all is involved as I run in some of the same circles as at least one of the developers; I don't want to get anybody excited on what remains nothing more than rumors at this point but, if true, this could be even bigger than previously thought (and I've always believed in the Octo).

Honestly I just started out casually mining... bought a few on Xnigma... liked the guys I met and liked what I saw but wanted to spread around my investments to hedge my bets. Looking back, OctoCoin has been the most stable altcoin price-wise since the day it launched. In fact, it's the only thing I have invested in over the past 3 months that is actually up in value (sadly, my own coin included... but that's another story - we haven't seen the last of Murraycoin!) 888 prices have seriously been +/- 50% for almost the entire time other than a slight dip during the quiet period before the hardfork. I don't know if they're buying/selling themselves to maintain stability or what but this kind of stability is unheard of in today's market. Almost every other coin released in this span of time has seen 1000% drops or more from their peak. The majority of new coins are all scams from the start with empty promises which is why I put so much value into meeting part of the dev team in-person. I know they speak to FusionHash at least once/week and their delivery has been perfect in my opinion. They are just slowly rolling along and building momentum and building a community. The majority of altcoins are here, pumped, and gone within a month. I still keep the majority of my crypto wealth in BTC but in the crazy world of altcoins this is starting to feel more and more like the most solid option out there. Everything is a gamble but I'm a believer.

I threw another bitcoin out on Bittrex at 1020 if anybody wants to help put me over 1,000,000  Grin

OFF TOPIC. INBOX ME YOUR RESPONSES.

Their board is 14 measly pages long. The dev actually created the coin and has just kinda set back.

Still, I bought quite a few of them. Just to see what would happen with them.

Petro Dollar aka PD aka P$. Traded on allcrypt.com. If you want to talk about it, I'd like to hear your opinions. It's an akward coin but I follow the dev on Twitter. He's an interesting dude.

If you don't wanna fill this board about another coin just inbox me. I'd rather not waste Octo real estate advertising something else but I like the people on this thread.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who just has that "feeling". I'm busy flipping other coins and selling other coins to buy more Octo. Every thing about it just feels right.  Smiley

I'm hoping it's during the first weekend of March Madness since we go down every year anyway (would be tough to convince the lady to let me do back-to-back Vegas trips, you know?)  Cheesy

We were down there this year promoting cryptocurrency and handing out shirts/etc but it quickly became less business and more plea... drunk. More drunk.

Edit: I'll have to check out that beer; do you know if they bottle it or can it for resale? Seattle beer, correct?
